Gallery Hotel8-10 Queensberry Place, South Kensington, Kensington, SW7 2EA London (Show map) Good, Score from 160 reviews“Very clean bedroom, friendly staff, convenient location”
Karen,
Wakefield
The 4-star Gallery Hotel has a refined Victorian style and a central location opposite the Natural History Museum. Close by are Earls Court, Olympia, the Albert Hall, Knightsbridge and Harrods. The beautiful Victorian house is decorated with original, framed art on every floor and in every room. The building is traditionally furnished, but offers modern amenities like high-speed internet (for an additional cost). Guests can relax in the luxurious lounge area, furnished with plump sofas and a chandelier. There is also a bar to enjoy, where a selection of drinks are available. A few minutes' walk can bring you to the museums or South Kensington Underground Station. There are plenty of shops, restaurant and bars that you can reach on foot. Hyde Park is a 15-minute walk away. Hotel Rooms: 36

Friendly staff. Quiet room. Love the William Morris/Arts and Crafts theme, although some might find it all a bit fussy - but it was cosy and homely to me! Slightly old-fashioned and a nice retreat from the London bustle. Brilliant spot location-wise. 3 minutes walk to South Ken tube, taxis and buses galore at either end of the road, and a taxi rank. Very convenient indeed yet on a relatively quiet street. Housekeeping was a little slack perhaps. Probably not enough staff to keep on top of such things.. Broken bedside lamp bulb in my room and a kettle that needed holding down to work. Not complaining though!

We enjoyed being immersed in British culture immediately after stepping through the door. The impecable manners of the staff was refreshing. The location was amazing, steps away from museums and the South Kensington tube station. Situated on a quiet street, it was perfect for jet-lagged travellers.

It was what I expected - disappointed that TV was ancient! we checked in late and were hungry therefore tried to get room service using the interline line - pressing the correct number on the telephone was not working and there were no instructions on how to get through - we therefore used our own mobile phone to call reception and were told we needed to dial '9' beforehand - reception did not offer to out us through. We therefore dialled '9'and then room service but again it did not work. We therefore used our own mobile to call recepton again and ordered our food.

If you want a modern "chrome and glass" hotel, this is not for you. If you want goold old fashioned cosy comfort and courtesy, it is. And there's an elevator! Polite and genuinely friendly and helpful staff - and the whole hotel was delightfully warm when it was very cold outside. When getting a special deal, the value for money was exceptional. I have already booked a return visit there. Just a little suprised not to have a trouser press in the room (assuming that it wasn't that I just couldn't find it) and the kettle/coffee/tea etc. could be displayed a little more obviously: it took a bit of a hunt to find it. But no significant complaints.

That old English ambiance about the place. Room was spacious compared to recent trends for minituarization of rooms. Bathroom was quite large too. Location next to South Kensington tube station and 2 min to the museums is unbeatable. Served drinks at 11 pm at night - excellent service. Sheet had holes. Furniture somewhat old. Breakfast cost GBP 7 additional. They also ask for GBP 20 deposit - just could not understand why!?!

Location location location: two steps from one of the most convenient tube stations, in walking distance of amazing museums, and 2 blocks away from a street packed with restaurants/cafes... The room was equipped with a comfy bathtub with vintage taps and a huge mirror, kettle and coffee was there, and the bed was wide & tall. One must also put an extra line for the hotel lounge area: a comfy & cozy & place to hang out with a drink after a walk in the city... Albeit the bed was tall it was a tad too short: not too comfy for a tall pair (if you are >180 expect your feet to dangle at some point). The room was also amazingly warm (had to sleep with the window ajar on a night of ~0c outside to sleep well -there was a portable a/c unit in place, but we chose to play eco-friendly & quiet)

The Gallery Hotel's location is convenient, the staff was helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. No complaints about the price either. In other words, I got what paid for, which is unfortunately not typical with central London hotels. A friend stayed at their sister hotel across the street (the Gainsborough) and based on what I saw of that hotel, the Gallery is the nicer of the two. While the Gallery is a very good hotel, I don't think it's a four-star facility, which is how it's advertised. The rooms and amenities are more in keeping with what one expects from a good three-star. And parts of the hotel are showing their age - though not so much so that I'd avoid staying there in the future.

Nice decor, good location I was charged £30 for a late checkout, considering I checked out midweek, on a Wednesday I think the late check out charge was not necessary. I could have paid the extra to a nicer hotel and stayed the same duration

Great position for our needs, not too expensive, friendly and helpful staff. Room needed redecorating. Bed wasn't very comfortable - but that's a personal choice.

We felt the hotel was lovely, staff very accommodating. Pity they did not celebrate the new year in any way. Perhaps a glass of bubbly to bring the new year would have been nice.

Love the Victorian decor, staff was very helpful, going over and above. The wireless Internet service was terrible. It kept dropping me while trying to use it. For 10 pounds a day It was expensive. Wireless company was Bitbuzz.
