Friendly helpful staff
Music from banquet hall was noisy and found it difficult to get to sleep
Accommodation was good, room clean and comfortable, excellent food in the bar, pleasant and friendly staff
Very strong smell of bleach in the room (but it wore off after a day) very thin toast is not my favourite but the breakfast generally was ok
Great room. Very spacious .fantastic shower TV And Free wifi.would advise a Definite visit on 6th February for northernsoul evening
The weather lol
Really enjoyed our stay beautiful place thank you :-)
We always stay at the Garrison when visiting family it's great value for money and very friendly
The food in the dining area was quite good and good value. The breakfast was a bit dear but good quality except for the tined tomato.
There was no heat in our room when we arrived mid afternoon and we had to go to the office and ask to have it turned on. it was very cold and this spoiled our experience very much
Convenience. Good value for money, which included a reasonable cooked breakfast. Evening meal available in the pub bar. Room was rather dated but clean. The room was warm and had an additional electric heater.Good for this time of year.
Poor signage to Hotel reception. Noticed other guests also having difficulty finding their way to the Hotel reception. Easy mistake to make - you assume that the entrance is via the pub, wrong. Disappointed that although our room was on the ground floor, as requested, didn't realize that access would be so awkward. Approach is very steep, on a slope, and as we stayed on a snowy, frosty night the drive in front of reception was very slippery. Main access from rooms to restaurant was via a VERY steep flight of uneven stone steps. I chose to walk around the outer road, which again was difficult to negotiate.
good food,very good bar,comfortable room.
at our age the stairs cause havoc to the knees.
The staff and the breakfasts are terrific!!
I always ask for a quiet room but always get one near the road. There is no lift to take one up to breakfast or the bar/restaurant. We seem to always drop unlucky with various functions (this time there were 2 in 4 days)!
The staff were very polite and helpful
The entire experience with this hotel was impressive and enjoyable. What a lovely, fantastically priced and comfortable stay. Well done staff for keeping this hotel as clean and friendly. I would recommend for sure.
It was perfect apart from the heaters
The boody heaters not working
Room was quiet and I appreciated the fact I had been allocated a room away from the Christmas party which was expected to be noisy. Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the relatives I was visiting and convenient for public transport.
Bright lighting outside the window meant the room was never dark. Room shabby and dated. Sheets clean and fresh but bedspread looked well used and a little grubby.
The location of the Garrison is ideal for our stay with a short distance to travel for hillsborough town, or a short taxi journey to Sheffield main town! You can also visit local stores/shops/attractions during your stay...if you manage to get out of the comfortable bed! If there any anything worth getting out of bed for...it's their AMAZING breakfast served by friendly helpful staff.
Although I appreciate they have to turn the rooms round for a certain time for other guests I was willing to pay extra to prevent us from having to check out early as we intended to travel in the evening due to immense traffic. Only downside...would still rate it 5* for experience.
The look and layout of the hotel, the room felt more like a chalet than a hotel room (which we liked). Our room overlooked the courtyard which was very picturesque. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with a good sized bathroom. We dined at the Jailhouse restaurant which served good pub grub, and drinks which were reasonably priced(the mixed grill was delicious). We opted for bed and breakfast which was continental and cooked, we opted for the cooked which was served to us by a very friendly, polite and helpful young lady. Checking in and out was quick and easy and there is adequate car parking. We would definitely stay here again.
Plastic shower curtains gone now and replaced with glass shower screen hooray!(well at least in the room I was in) ,excellent place to stay can recommend.
Could have done with biscuit with coffee but suppose just being picky. Think it would be nice if a loyalty card could be introduced just an idea .
BADLY SIGNPOSTED, CANNOT FIND ENTRANCE/RECEPTION NO ENTRENCE FOR CARS FROM HILLSBOROUGH HIGH RD BADLY SIGNED/LIT,CONFUSING CAR PARKS ROOM DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM - I CAME BACK 2AM- DOOR WAS OPEN HAD NOT CLOSED PROPERLY ON LEAVING.
We were travelling to Sheffield for my son's 30th birthday treat in Sheffield Wednesday's hospitality suite. The hotel was conveniently close, extremely friendly, very comfortable and absolutely perfect for our needs. I'd stay here again.
Wednesday lost the match!
Cosy rooms comfy beds
Comfortable beds, good lighting in room, proper sized bath, lots of hot water. Near the tram route. Right next to morrisons which is handy. Free parking. Breakfast is reasonable if not very generous portions. Overall good hotel, we've stayed twice and would stay again.
Not as warm in room when we arrived as I would have liked but warmed up after a while. Some noise from next room occasionally, water running, etc. Not much to complain about overall.
Extremely average. You get what you pay for!
Basic soulless room. No effort made to make it comfy or pleasant.
Stayed there after our work CHRISTMAS do.. It was all very nice and would highly recommend....
The pillows were very HARD!!!
Location, comfort, good value for money. Liked how the hotel was former barracks, lot of character and rooms were a good size. Breakfast was hot and good.
The location was ideal for the venue. Price, facilities etc. were just what we wanted. It was warm and the staff were friendly. It was intriguing to be able to stay in converted army barracks. Loved it!
Sadly, none of the staff could give us the winning lottery numbers before it was drawn, otherwise, there was nothing for us to complain about. I don't know about wheel chair access, enquire if you need this.
