Great location, 5 minute walk from the tube. Staff welcoming and friendly. The window was broken, all lampshades were very dusty and the toilet seat needs replacing as it was minging. Requires a better choices of jam at breakfast (not just marmalade).

Location was great. Excellent breakfast. I asked for a budget room and that is what I got. Good value for the location. Location of the facilities - but that is for this particular room. For other rooms this would not be a problem.

The location was great. Breakfasts were adequate. Noisy!!!! Street traffic as well as noise from other rooms (slamming doors, loud voices, etc). No lift. Carrying 5 pieces of luggage up 60 steps was not fun! State of bathroom very unsatisfactory-mould on shower ceiling, water faucets that were extremely difficult to turn off.

The staff were very professional and helpful. They were very knowledgeable about various services offered nearby. Although the rooms were conveniently located, they were rather small. There were also no laundry services either offered by the hotel or onsite.

The location of the Garth Hotel in Bloomsbury is unbeatable, the price is affordable, the breakfast is terrific and, under new ownership, the hotel is clean and well run. Free access to wifi internet was a real boon. This is my 4th time to the Garth Hotel in the last 10 years and was undoubtedly my most pleasant stay. The bed I had desperately needed a new mattress: I could feel every spring. Some thought should be given to making phones/land lines available to guests.

The hotel was situated close to the west end, kings cross station and main shopping/tourist attractions making it an ideal place to stay. A very basic service was offered. There was no lift and the family room was on the top floor making it awkward with toddlers.I Found that this hotel was fairly expensive for the level of service and comfort offered.

The location We booked a triple room with a double and a single bed. We were given a room with four very small single beds right at the top of the house. The bathroom was so small that you could hardly move. The wash basin was tiny. The TV was a portable from about 20 years ago. There was no bedside lamp or bedside table between the two beds which were in the most comfortable location. There was no electrical socket within reach of the kettle. The cooked breakfast was poor.

A traditional English bed and breakfast hotel, unchanged I would say from the 1960's, which means that if you need an en-suite then look elsewhere. My room (nr 6) was very small but with a hand basin and facing the back which was pretty quiet and green. Floor boards creak above at night - but so what? It's not really suitable for single women (because of having to parade up and down to the loo etc) but for a man like me looking for a quiet night before work the following day - just ideal. It's on a busy road (Gower St) but which leads right into the centre of London (bus stop opposite). Most of the guests seemed to be from abroad - I think Americans would be a bit put off by the faded and limited facilities but if you go into this with your eyes open you'll probably be ok. Breakfast could have been better with a bit of effort - the ingredients were fine but the staff needed more training and investment into organisation and management skills. I had the sense of a general lack of experience amongst the staff who needed additional English language tuition and the presence of a manager qualified in the field of 'Hospitality and Management'. There are many universities in the uk offering this specialism, so there's actually no excuse for inaction.

Despite horrendous reviews, the hotel was fine. Room & facilities were clean, & no noise issues. Breakfast was good & the hotel is in a good location. Hotel currently being redecorated, so some general mess. TV barely usable. Carpets in poor condition throughout.

good english breakfast, the hotel is very central: you can walk covent garden and underground (goodge street) is just around the corner. very very very small room without any comfort, dirty carpets, ridiculous small shower and wash basin, uncomfortable and dirty bed. the hotel has a good location, but all in all it´s just too expensive for what you get!
