Aviemore Skiing and Snowboarding (14 miles / 22.5 km) - the village is renowned as being a top Scottish location for winter sports. A funicular railway can transport up to 1,200 per hour to Cairngorm Mountain in the winter.
The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre (20 miles / 32 km) - the Cairngorm herd is Britain's only herd of Reindeer, with around 130 roaming between the Cairngorm Mountains and the Glenlivet Estate. Guided trips leave up to twice a day from the centre to take visitors to these very tame and friendly animals.

The Garth is a traditional Scottish hotel with Scottish atmosphere. The food was excellent and local produce was used. In the evening a piper was playing the bagpipes outside. I liked everything about the hotel. |

A good standard hotel located at the end of teh main street in Grantown. Perfect for those following the Whisky Trail. Food was good but not exceptional Some of the staff were a bit surly |

Excellent breakfast Being served a crab salad when the the crab was off. The rataurant agreed and changed the meal but I am forced to question the standards of the chef. |

Made very welcome, old fashioned good service felt like a guest not a customer. Food very good and reasonable choice for breakfast menu. Would stay at the Garth again without hesitation and would recommend this hotel. |

All guests seemed to be enjoying themselves, staff were helpful and made you feel very at home. Reviews said the rooms were small but we didn't feel this to be true. Bathroom was warm and clean. They made provision for our little old dog by giving us a downstairs room with easy access to the garden. The whole break made us feel welcome and relaxed. The bed was a bit hard for anyone who suffers joint pain. |
