In the heart of historic York, this Hilton has 2 bars, 2 restaurants and is opposite the ancient Clifford's Tower. Modern rooms, each with a flat-screen TV, are moments from the Jorvik Viking Centre.

Central location and good parking. Proper tea and a good breakfast.
En-suite bathroom damp with poor ventilation, and room very uninspiring and sparse.
Nice little hotel the Town is very quite nice places to have meal and drink with easy access to york would stay again
Excellent food Helpful,friendly staff
Room was comfotable, but would benefit from a refurb
Good location for day trips to east coast, York, Harrogate, Yorkshire Dales etc. Hotel is comfortable has loads of character, free parking, staff are polite and helpful.
More variety regarding evening meals
Very good choice on menu
Too low wattage of electric bulbs in bedroom ,,,not easy to read. a mag or newspaper
Easy to take luggage to room as room on ground floor at back with its own front door, could park immediately outside. Great for people like myself with mobility problems.
Shower over bath not so easy to get in with mobility issues.
The people were very friendly
the beer in all the local pubs was poor and expensive.
The management & chefs went out of their way to ensure a dairy free diet was adhered to, checking ingredients & changing them when necessary. I was overwhelmed with their care.
Communal wall, as in some other hotels, was a bit thin. It meant on one evening we could hear conversation of neighbours. Their bed head backed onto communal wall. It didn't detract from our stay too much because everything else was so good!
The location, friendliness of staff, in particular the landlady was excellent in her role, decent quality of food,
Lack of,view from our particular bedroom, also we found the bar food whilst good, was quite expensive in relation to similar Inns/pubs
Lighting in bedroom not very good for reading
friendly staff excellent bath tub good pillows excellent food charming village
no comfortable chairs in lounge rooms are dated bike rental too expensive
We liked the location because there are plenty of pubs in Easingwold so we came straight back from the racing avoiding the cramped pubs in thirsk food was good and drinks where not expensive. If you do stay hire the tandem the hotel has we had a great laugh on it something different.
Low door frame into bedroom but ceilings where high enough I'm six foot
near to our sons house
Slopping floors in bedrooms.Take u by surprise when returning from loo in middle of night!!!!!!!!
Nothing but good things to say about the George we will be back again on our next trip, food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service and the friendly staff!set in a lovely Yorkshire village worth a visit!
Ground floor adjacent to car park. Easy to bring bags inside. Friendly, helpful staff.
We booked this hotel on it's location close to a meeting. Very glad we did. It is an old coaching in of a few hundred years old but has been improved on the inside without damaging the structure. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, had all the facilities required and an excellent large bathroom. The food was good with large portions, the crumble is to be recommended! Black Sheep ale on draught was a bonus.
Can't think of anything.
Friendliness of staff and excellent quality of food.
Position of television in room was not suitable to be watched by both guests.
Being disabled, the ground floor annex room with accessible close parking was perfect. The bar snacks and breakfast were excellent and the friendliness outstanding, as it always is - we have been several times. Long may it continue.
Nothing really. One slight niggle was that the TV wouldn't swivel away from the wall, making it inconvenient to view from the RH bed ! Otherwise perfect.
The location, in the market square, is excellent. The rooms at the back next to the car park are very convenient - especially if you are staying for just the one night.
Location, friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
Bed far too soft for me, as a big man it was very difficult to move about in. 0800 - 0900 too small a window for breakfast. 0800 - 1000 would be better. I was on holiday for goodness sake! I left working hours behinds years ago!
Very friendly staff and very accommodating to your needs. Good food at reasonable prices and an ideal base to visit surrounding areas from. Will definitely stay there again.
Everything, care for the impaired, help with luggage, good food, great staff. Cannot complain
Should have stayed longer!
A warm welcome, staff very helpful and accomadating. Room comfortable, lots of character. Had everything we needed in it. Owners went out of way to help us out, recomend it. Will be visiting again soon.
Looked after me like I was a member of the family
Nice location Good food (evening meal) Friendly staff
Rooms tired All needed a good clean Breakfast poor
