We were filming on location nearby and the George Barrow was less than 15 minutes away. I was surprised as to how big the hotel is and the staff are very accommodating. The views across the valley are stunning plus the added bonus of Red Kites in the area. AAA+++ from us :-)
Nothing to report, all good.
Breakfast & evening meal excellent
Bathroom and general decor a little "tired".
Friendly owner, good breakfast; location excellent for walkers.
The room was too hot for me (just right for my husband who is unwell); I was able to open window for fresh air
Staff were very welcoming, the food was excellent, both the evening meal and breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was warm and cosy, everything worked.
superb breakfasts with locally sourced and delicious free range eggs, bacon and sausages. Friendly proprietor and her family close to where we wanted to be Used to walkers and asked for our expected time of return and co-ordinates unprompted; good packed lunch. Quiet location, great views, chatty "locals"
our room (a Family double) was fine but was about to have an update so was a little "tired" looking but perfectly adequate especially in view of the very low price
Great atmosphere. Staff so friendly and informative, Lovely comfy room with a great view.
We had a lovely four day stay. Room comfortable and food delicious. Will be going back. Thank you.
Stayed one night, very friendly people, with good food at reasonable price, would recommend
Good views, Friendly helpful staff, Good price, Nice breakfast. Convenient location
Road noise, its about three feet from the road. I had an attic room which while comfy, even me at a very average 5ft 10, felt like gandalf in a hobbit hole. Whilst clean and tidy decor all looking a bit tired and dated.
Very friendly staff, freshly cooked food, quirky rooms, nice mix of guests and locals in bar, comfortable bed, great views - its not a 5 star but has everything you need and want for a few nights stay in a great location - will be staying again when in the area
some areas of decor looked a little tired but always clean and tidy - it was all part the charm!!!
courtesy and helpfulness of the staff. Easy parking. Good value for money
Duvets were too hot for me. You can control the temperature with Sheets and blankets although I appreciate they make more work for the Hotel
It had a very helpful and friendly staff. The atmosphere suited us and in the the evening after our meal we enjoyed spending time in the bar listening to the local customers. Welsh by birth ,left Wales in our twenties to obtain work .Hearing the voices of our early lives is always a pleasure.
Great welcome. Wonderful breakfast
The location, and view from the rooms. Good hearty meals and breakfast
We have stayed at The George Borrow several times and if we didn't like it we wouldn't return! On this visit we took an elderly Aunt there for lunch and the staff made her very welcome and ensured they could provide a suitable diet. 12 out of 10 as far as I'm concerned!!!!
very nice surrounding, friendly people, good food
We were absolutely satiesfied with everything.
food very good, great views from room.
bathroom shower had hairs in tray, not free wifi, needs modernising.
Beautiful location Great welcome from Karen and Rob Excellent food
Room very small and furniture basic, home made wardrobe and sadly no view from high window. Shower did not work Pillows flat and need replacing. Generally needs updating
One of the best parts was the friendliness of the staff. They provided such a welcoming atmosphere and in a homely setting. The views were also stunning, and we were provided a lovely garden area to watch it all within. A fantastic choice of hotel.
The only thing was that it was a bit hot in the room at night, and I we felt the lack of a cooling system. Other than that it was very comfortable and enjoyable!
whats not to like, views, food excellent, Karen and staff made you very welcome..
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely garden and view from the restaurant.
The front bar seemed a bit unwelcoming on first arrival but was better when we returned later.
Friendly and welcoming. Good breakfast and flexible with timings for an early start – offered a bacon roll to take away if we wanted it. Not particularly comfortable and of course very hot this week. Dinner menu very limited and 1970s, but some items eg the curry were excellent Happy to go back next year Phil
Pictures don't do justice to the great view of uplands and wooded valleys, there's even a waterfall at the bottom of the garden. Exceptionally helpful staff and owners, a relaxing atmosphere, elegant traditional decor and good food make this ideal for a country weekend
The way the hotel was being improved, albeit, as cash allowed. A family run concern, all friendly. Great location.
very friendly staff and good central location. Food was great value .
rooms a little tired but ok for a few nights
