A stunning location with fantastic views. The food was first class and would be expected in a higher rate hotel. There are also many tourist attractions nearby aimed at countryside and outdoor activities. The hotel was overall a good experience with a stunning location and good access for many attractions. The accommodation and staff were excellent but areas of the hotel needed renovation / updating. The only bad point really was the en suite bathroom which was very tired and the 'Saniflow toilet' had an unfortunate odour which sometimes invaded the room.

The location was stunning and the staff excellent and very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was too small and not quite private as the door leading to it was a sliding one with a gap.

Takes a bit of finding - ignore Sat-Nav directions if coming from the South or West as you be sent down a narrow gated road. When you get there the hotel overlooks mountains and low-lying area lovely Made most welcome, food was good, quite good value for money

The location particularly the wonderful views of the Red Kites. The food was very good and great value for money. The staff were very helpful. My bedroom carpet was rather tired-looking, a bit stained and really needed up-dating, otherwise, no complaints.

The bed was very comfortable. Efficient service. Friendly people A clean hotel but decor is tired and dated in some areas visible mousetrap on landing.Furniture polish and some cleaning equipment left out in dining room. Very minor things I know but attention to such detail would help offset tired decor. But did enjoy our stay!

Warm, welcoming staff, very considerate of our needs. Bar full of friendly locals with log fire, hearty bar and restaurant food with good beer. Quiet rural location ideal base for for local walks. Splendid montain views from bedroom window. Bedroom was clean, comfy with all necessary tea/coffee/chocolate drink-making facilities, Small flat-screen TV and clean towels provided. Would certainly return to the George Borrow Hotel the next time we visit Aberystwyth. Showing some signs of lived-in wear and tear and lacking some comforts, befitting it's two-star rating. However this imparted an attractive 'oldy-worldy' feel to the place, reinforcing its character.

Stayed August 2011. The saying "Do not judge a book by it's cover" is quite apt for the George Borrow Hotel. Although bedroom we were allocated was small, it was adequate for a one or two night stay. Hotel staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Ideal for walkers. Would definitely stay again

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was quite good, reasonably priced and well served. We chose the location because it was fairly close to Devil's Bridge, the steam railway and the waterfall walk. Our room on the second floor was really too small for a double - its an old building and you have to negotiate the beams! I would always request a first floor room in the future.

My stay lived up to my previous good exoeriences at the George Borrow. All the staff ensured a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, including keeping the kitchen open a little longer to allow us to wash and change before our evening meal, and our meals were excellent and washed down with a good pint of beer. As we had to leave early the next morning breakfast baguettes were prepared for us in place of our missed breakfast. I will certainly stay there again when in the area. The en-suite was rather cramped especially for my large frame, but this is often the case with retrofitted ensuite facilies and is therefore an accepted fact of life..
