Very accommodating staff, and the landlady tried very hard to please us, and make us welcome. Loved the food too. Nothing really.

It was clean and the owner and staff were friendly. The location is fantastic, with wonderful views and great walks on the doorstep. The breakfast was good, would be better with quality local produce. It's shabby. The whole place needs at least decorating if not updating. Gutters needed clearing as they over flowed and dripped constantly onto the dining room roof. The ensuite shower was a dribble and could have been a foot larger.

Only stayed here for one night as my daughter was visiting Aberystwyth University which was around twenty minutes away. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom wasn't very big and the toliet uses a saniflow system which was bit noisey when flushed. Room had a tv and tea/coffee making facilities. The price included a full english breakfast which was very nice. This hotel would be ideal for people that enjoy hiking or mountain biking.

My son and myself were revisiting Aberystwyth where he went to Univeristy. While he was there, my husband died, so this was a poignant return. The setting of the hotel is lovely, and the family and the members of the local community were very welcoming. It is a great area for walking as well as being close to attractions. We were not short of things to do even when it rained. The attractions included the Red Kite centre, the silver mine, the Devil's Bridge and the Devil's cauldron, and, of course, Aberystwyth, with access to the beach, sea, Constitution hill and other attractions. The food at the hotel was home cooked, well presented and delicious with a choice of traditional Welsh dishes. The service was excellent with friendly staff from the village. The dining room looks out over the mountains and the view was really nice when having breakfast. The room was pleasant with tea and coffee available in the room, TV, and en-suite facilities

Lovely welcome into what seemed like the family home, with all members performing various functions. Outside condition, car park and approach, was 'dowdy'; with minimal attention could have been very attractive. Garden superb but some breakages needed clearing. 200ft drop to cascade impressive. Beautiful view of hills from bedroom and public rooms. Garden aspect beautiful. Lounge needed a 'tidy'. Limited menu available for us, but every attempt made to supply our requests. No tea-pot at breakfast - did NOT impress my lady-friend! We realise they have had complete re-wiring and refurbishment but after 6 years some smaller niceties could have been improved. Nonetheless an appreciated stay and convenient for our holiday.

The setting of the hotel is splendid. It has a ever tantalising view from the dining room over to Erw Barfau Hill and from the end of the garden you can peer over the fence down into the 200ft chasm & waterfalls of the River Rheidol. It is very handy for a short trip northwards to the little visited Nant-y-Moch reservoir, southwards to Devil's Bridge and the pleasant walks in Hafod Estate. I was really pleased I did not stay in Aberystwyth with its traffic & lack of convenient parking.

Quiet, easy to find, spectacular countryside on doorstep, traditional ambience, unpretentious but adequate, bar is the pub local, restaurant if you want it, mammoth breakfast to set you up for the day, good value.
