We liked the music event in particular. Congratulations to whoever booked Clive Carroll - a real coup for a small venue. We also liked the friendly staff, and the cooked breakfast. Didn't like the curry served as part of the pre-event meal, as the rice was not drained, and was swimming in water!

Good breakfast, free from dripping fat, served quickly. Important when staying for business. Right in the town centre, with no double glazing (due to period features, no doubt) so a little noisy overnight, but nothing too disturbing.

I stayed at the George earlier in June and found it a welcome change from the usual brand hotels. I had the room 4, the double bed was very comfortable and new (much better than the big brand 4 star hotels) and the room well appointed. The shower was modern & powerful. The cooked to order full english breakfast was excellent quality with plenty of choices. Don't be put off by the 2 stars, this is a proper hotel (not just a B&B).

location good for the two moors and north devon coast. Comfortable rooms recently refurbished. Interesting historic building. Food good - not standardised hotel fare. Could do with reviewing food service, i.e. presentation at table

The member of staff (owner?) could not have been more helpful. The rooms was of adequate size and had a very comfortable bed! As I need to work in the evening, I found the dim lighting in the room a bit of a trial.

The George is a quaint, historical hotel just outside the North Devon countryside in the small town of South Molton. It is a very relaxing atmosphere with the staff managing everything from check-in to breakfast accommodations to afternoon tea. Since we were there for a wedding, it was very well situated to visiting with friends, having a bit of shopping and countryside to explore, and learning about life in this small rural town. It also served as respite when we needed a break.
