The staff were excellent and our stay was special Manageress, Allison, needs to get her priorities sorted out when it comes to Agency bookings. You do not attempt to re-let a room and expect the guest to still pay for it. Bad attitude which nearly spoilt the stay. The rest of the staff were superb.

Plenty of staff and very good service. Food in restaurant was good. Breakfast very nice. The food and drink was expensive. There was limited seating in bar area - the hotel seems to want to be a restaurant more than a bar and restaurant. Parking is a bit limited at the back, supposed to be 15 slots but not marked so only about 10 park up and we ended up down the road. When we settled our bill we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip as well which caught us on the hop a bit.

The hotel room was spacious. The courtyard was a pleasant area and the restaurant was very nice.....white cloth tablecloths and interesting decor. The hotel room walls and ceilings seemed very thin and a lot of noise was experienced.

The food 11/10 was excellent , we had evening meals on both days choice was good . The breakfast to die for, filled you up for the day , skipped lunch . Would certainly recommend and will be back in the near future.

Faultless friendly staff - went out of their way to help with any requests. Breakfast offered superb choices - only sampled full english but was delicious. Not related directly to the hotel but if you are going to need a taxi - book early - staff said they were like gold dust but more likely to find gold dust!

Very helpfull and friendly staff. Excellent food and service. 'Beer tapas' was good too. Eco-friendly bulbs in the rooms were a bit dim, other than that, nothing.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food was excellent. We liked the location and the town. It was good value for what we paid on the deal. The room was a little bit dated althopugh the bathroom was modern and nice. But we had everything we needed and it was clean and comfortable

The staff were very welcoming and very approachable. In particular Debbie was very freindly and helpful. The setting in North Yorkshire was breath taking. The open fire in the bar, the furniture, the dinning restaurant, the staff, and especilly the accommodation all combined to make this a very memorable stay.

Helpful bar and breakfast staff, particularly the chef. Good bar food. Shabby, tired and dated room and furnishings. No thermostatic shower - ensuite needs drastic modernisation. No digital tv & very small screen Disorganised/chaotic breakfast service - chef took place of breakfast staff on one occasion. Minimal options for vegetarian breakfasts. Definitely no more than 2 star. Stayed in much better 3 star accommodation. Poor value for money. Asked for tip for serving staff on leaving! To the owners; pay your staff more! Overall - disappointed.

It was a friendly hotel with very good food available, breakfast was particulary good. It was also competively priced. The walk from the rooms to breakfast, and a small point I know but I feel coffee like tea should be served in a pot at b-fast with two cup capacity.

Stayed in pubs before and booked with mixed feelings. However there are outside bedrooms accross the courtyard from the pub which helps although no noise in the pub even though it was a Saturday night. Bedrooms large enough with a bath ideal on a cold Winters evening. Staff very friendly during the booking in period, always a good or bad sign. Taken to our rooms, travelled with friends, and the usual information given. Had booked dinner in advance and came down to a roaring fire in a homely pub lounge. We dined in the restaurant which was big and spacious and very tastily furnished. We ate from a menu which catered for most tastes and not expensive. Drinks at normal prices for the area. After the meal we relaxed in the bar with locals and felt very much at home. Offer of a free night and a 20% reduction on a meal if booked between January and March which we will probably take up. All in all an excellent pub and would gladly recommend.

Staff friendly and food in the restaurant was very good. Good parking facilities compared with other local hotels. Close enough to larger towns for day tripping. Bit on the pricy side considering location, facilities and standard of room.
