Great place to stay. Very clean and great value for money! Breakfast included was a bonus and also lovely.
The room was quite dated.
Location was ideal for walking and the moors lovely breakfast and good size bed and room
Room had shower head but no shower screen so couldn't really use. They explained was because of water temperature and pressure. little noisy when other people came home as doors bang quite loud
Friendly staff good food.
She was very rude! Ignored us in the morning. Didn;t have the room we had booked available when we arrived and then tried to charge me more for another 2 rooms - there was no aplogies. We could not fault the other members of staff and one of them even apologised for her as we checked in ! As if they knew she would be rude with us.
Staff were excellent really helpful and lovely breakfast.
The only downside is that at the time of our stay, they were renovating/ decorating the main bar area.A minor hitch, but never the less, we did enjoy the stay. THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY BRILL. 8.5/10
Friendly, competent staff who were all totally engaged with what they were doing. They couldn't have been more helpful and charming. The food was absolutely spectacular, first class ingredients cooked to bring out the very best, the venison steak and the lamb shank were particularly enjoyable.
We could only stay for 2 nights, but we definitely be going back.
The staff, excellent food location and value for money.
The room was cold on arrival but the staff sorted it out straight away.
Location was perfect. Visited the lion inn. Was nice views of the moors. Nice food. Spooky drive back.
The food was amazing
Bed Comfy Shower Good Food great
Shower in 2nd room was hand held and of no use!
Loved the restaurant and warm welcome on arrival.
Food was excellent Staff were excellent rooms clean and comfy
rooms in an annex behind pub and up flight of stairs - not recommended for people with arthritis/walking difficulties showers did not work only a yale lock on door could not open window as public walkway right outside
We had a three night stray at the hotel and was warmly welcomed on Friday and although we were early the room was ready and we were able check into the room early. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble and the rooms were clean. Would certainly stop there again.
Good food and nice bedding. The staff were helpful and friendly.
The room wasn't as clean as it should have been for the price.
staff, always consistent and so very caring and friendly.
Great staff and amazing food.
Slightly dated if anything.
The food was superb!!
Distance from main pub building
Staff - very willing and friendly Food and drink - generous portions Room, bar and restaurant - clean and pleasant Location for the purpose of our visit - very good
Hotel staff were friendly and welcoming we were upgraded to a superior room without asking. Room was spacious, very comfortable and also had large em suite. Food was excellent some of the best meals my husband and I have had, can't wait to visit again we stayed 3 nights but would happily have stayed longer,
There was nothing to dislike
Restaurant, pub area
Bedrooms 10 and 11 were too small and were at the top of the building only accessed by steep flights of stairs. After the first night we were moved to much nicer rooms , spacious and well appointed.
Staff were excellent. Breakfast & evening food was very good but portions huge! The bed was clean.
We had room 2. When we got there the tray & cups were dirty but were replaced immediately. I think, talking to the owner, because we got the room cheaper on Booking.com, we were given the smallest and only room without ventilation in the bathroom - the fan was inadequate and we saw the mould on the walls and the shower cubicle grow daily. In fareness when we mentioned this on departure the owner told us that we should have said and she would have tried to move us. Not sure this would have happened. The hotel was not full so there was no need to use the poorer room. If going through Booking.com means being given the worst room as opposed to a bargain for late booking then we will not be doing that again. Had the hotel answered the telephone when we rang direct then we would have booked that way.
The bar staff were friendly, as were the breakfast staff
When we booked we asked for a nice room as it was our anniversary. We got a very dated room, whilst guests with dogs had much better rooms,2nd night were woken at 1am with children and adults running in the room above. We complained and was told there was no manager available but someone would call....still waiting! This pub is trying to be better than it actually is, eevrecommend anywhere but here
Very relaxing. Friendly efficient staff.
Restaurant was first class, good food good value
Rooms are very tired and can not really justify the price, have stayed in guest houses with better facilities at half the price
