Have stayed several times.Room was not up to standard of other stays, not value for money.
Breakfast was really good value
room didnt have a view as overlooked the generators- which made a noise. Room was up some stairs off the main landing area..
Breakfast Dinner Cleanliness of room Staff very helpful
Rooms a little warm
Location of the safe in our room was ridiculous. At floor level it was very difficult for a 74 year old (like me) to operate.
No air con in room. Room too hot and not allowed to open windows as a cable alarm on window disallowing you to open them! This was most disappointing!
Staff attention to detail
paying extra at breakfast for a cappuccino coffee
Staff were very helpful. Made our wedding stay memorable. The breakfast in the morning was amazing!
I liked the position of the George hotel central for everything.the hotel was beautiful decor.the staff were very helpful rooms were comfy
There was nothing we didn't like
Location, friendly staff and good facilities - breakfast and dinner were great.
Great location just behind Princes St and close to the train station. Excellent breakfast staff in impressive decor of Tempus restaurant.
Very helpful and kind staff. Great breakfast, very good location.
Room was clean and bed was comfy
Room was very hot at night and it wasn't until the morning that we noticed a fan was provided
Comfortable, elegant hotel.
Breakfast was a bit cold & waiter in bar not as friendly as rest of staff in hotel.. Stayed in hotel 2 yrs ago & had similar experience with same waiter
Friendly reception staff, grand foyer, clean rooms and perfect location for shops and sites
Breakfast was plentiful and varied but cooked breakfast was lukewarm and bacon hard. Other alternatives were good especially fruit selection
Location OK for walking access to tourist attractions in city centre. Food good and staff friendly.
No car park, expensive car parking elsewhere. Room and bathroom relatively small for price. Poor TV choice. No chocolate in addition to tea & coffee. Bathroom sink cracked & extractor fan not working.
Lovely big room Excellent location Great bar area
Lack of air conditioning in the room.
The room was excellent, as it should be at this price point and so was the location.
Staff not interested and didn't even ask us if our stay was OK. Parking very problematic and we weren't made to feel welcome. Pity as this used to be a great hotel
Beds and bedding were first class, breakfast (included in cost) was excellent, location.
Some reception staff abrupt and unhelpful. Check in time of 3pm quite late.
This hotel was in a great location staff were very helpful.. Had a great night sleep after a brilliant day out around wonderful Edinburgh
Harvey Nichols around the corner. What else do you want moore?! Nice bar and a fantastic breakfast
Cleanliness, very comfortable beds, quiet rooms, friendly helpful staff and ideal location.
Wish there was a mini-bar/fridge in room...surely that's the norm in a 4-star hotel! And a bidet would've been nice! Otherwise great hotel.
The location. The room was also very comfortable and clean and I was happy with the value for money but that was because we got a good cut price deal.
If we had paid even close to full price I would have been very disappointed with this hotel. Except for the reception area the communal space was poor, the tea and coffee facilities in the room were also poor. I was also disappointed that the wifi was so expensive. At a hotel of this quality the wifi should be free.
Location and level of comfort.
Noisy room as it overlooked George St and noisy guests in corridor in the middle of the night.
Good central position and friendly efficient staff.
The photo of the single room on this web site is supplied by the hotel and bears no resemblance at all to the tiny, dingy single bedded room (97) I was given at check in. Asked to be moved and was given a room like the one in the photo but charged for the upgrade. Drew the inaccuracy of the photo to the attention of booking.com and to the hotel. Booking.com were very helpful and contacted the hotel and as a result the charge for the upgrade was withdrawn. The hotel said they were considering changing the photo.
