The George Hotel

Hyvällä paikalla oleva siisti ja hyvätasoinen hotelli. Hyvä aamiainen. Hotellin sijainti hyvien kulkuyhteyksien varrella ja lähialueilla runsaasti ostos- ja ruokailumahdollisuuksia. Kaunis vanha rakennus ja yleisarvosana hyvä.

Meidän huoneemme oli melkoisen pieni ja näköala ikkunoista pari seinää ja pala kattoa. Huoneen koko/näköala ei vastannut hintaa. Tyypillinen sokkeloisen vanhan rakennuksen ongelma.

Tyylikäs, siisti hotelli keskellä kaupunkia.

Location, room layout

The hotel "nickeled and dime'd" us. First, we were early, room not available, but, the clerk said "we have one of our better rooms ready and you can have it for 25 ls extra. Next, "you can have a morning paper but we charge to bring it to your room". Lastly, they have implemented a 2% surcharge for using a credit card! They didn't charge me, after I questioned the policy.

All staff were polite and helpful. Good room service clean and nice white thick towels.

Having stayed many times before when under different management we did not think it was as good overall as it used to be. The room refurbishement was good.

Noisy in front rooms

Location, good size of bedroom, excellent breakfast, efficient and friendly staff.

Room was very warm even with windows open. Not great soundproofing i.e. doors banging, people talking

The location was excellent. Nice places to eat locally.

We arrived for breakfast at 10.04 on our first morning (service ends at 10.00). The waitress was very discourteous, she took out her mobile phone to check the time, which surprised me as I thought it very unprofessional that staff have mobiles on them at work. She spoke very sharply to us, said the time a couple of times and said the service had ended and said "you are too late!" Then I think when she saw how shocked we were she said "ok - go into the restaurant". We didn't know the protocol, we had to pick a table and take cutlery from wherever we could find it on other tables. We were mortified and other guests looked on wondering why we were waiting on our own table. Eventually a waiter came and offered us tea and toast.

The comfortable atmosphere about the room. Bathroom was sumptuous. We were upgraded to a superior room for no extra cost which was a nice suprise by booking through this site. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary so it made it a bit more special
