Staff were very friendly
State of bedroom - wall paper peeling and freezing - up to you to turn heating on when you get in Towel rail falling off wall Shower like baby's breath and very small so fighting shower curtain entire time Single room bed - no support from matress,.which is sunken into wooden frame so basically you are sleeping on frame. Matress so thin - no real support - duvet very thin and barely covers you - cold night with poor sleep quality All needs redecoration and cleaner carpets
The staff was friendly and the full English breakfast was extremely good.
The first room we went in had a cover on the bed with several nasty looking stains. There was no problem in getting moved to another room but as the first, the rooms are very tied especially the bathrooms. Grouting in many area stained black, broken fan heater so no bathroom heating and nothing more than around a 19" tv screen. What concerned me more was the fact with the curtains drawn the electric fan heating couldn't be used as the curtains went to the floor and within a few minutes became very hot. Couldn't take the risk trying to push them onto the very narrow window cill as each time they fell down in a few moments. Some serious work is required before we would stay again or even recommend.
The landlord, landlady and all the staff were very helpful, kind and welcoming. Our room in the annex was comfortable and quiet with all the necessary facilities. The food was very good, offering a wide choice and home cooked. Chips were excellent. The log fire is very welcome on a cold day. I like the variety of seating, by the fire on a comfy sofa or at tables for bar meals or in the attractively decorated restaurant. I imagine in summer the outdoor seating would be very popular.
loved the friendliness of staff.felt abit like home from home.my husband loved the large fried breakfast!main building was warm and inviting,if rather dated on the decor side.but very homely feel.
just didnt like the rooms being in a building seperate from main hotel.wasnt far but it just wasnt what we are used to.
The location being convenient to RAF Cranwell is excellent. Accommodation is modest but adequate, best described as quaint. The full English breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall very good value.
TV in room was tiny. Wifi was only available in bar, not in the room. Ensuite bathroom requires refurbishment and modernisation
The food in the restaurant was lovely. Great cooked breakfast. Staff very friendly and polite.
Extremely uncomfortable mattress. Tiny TV in bedroom.
The staff were very friendly. Food very good.
A very damp smell permeated the entire place. Our room was shabby the bathroom disgusting, toilet filthy, mould all over walls in bathroom with no attempt to clean off.
Front facade of hotel. Welcoming bar and lounge adorned with approx 650 bottles of whisky. Cosy intimate restaurant.
Outside seating area is a bit of a mishmash furniture wise. Would also benefit from a good sweeping to clear leaves. Grounds are rather tired.
Staff friendliness. We asked the lady to order us a taxi for the evening and as one wasn't available she drove us in her own car and also offered to pick us up, which we felt was above the call of duty!
friendly helpful staff good food comfortable bed wardrobe space quiet location tv provided wifi in bar tea/coffee facilities in room car parking good value not pretentious
fittings and such tired and worn throughout public areas not clean enough some damp in bedroom wall get the impression owners are ready to sell or retire?
Good Cooked Breakfast, nice bar
The restaurant/food appears excellent on the internet, but the restaurant smells of damp and the choice of food was very poor, we had to go out to eat, which was very disappointing, the entrance to the rooms also smelt of damp
Food and bar is excellent. Staff are extremely polite and friendly.
I stayed in the Annexe. The TV was too small and the shower could not be regulated. This could easily be corrected for a few hundred pounds.
Staff, Owner, Food, Pub, Place, Kind Enviroment, Quality/Price Rate, for lover of silence and spartanity
Room a bit cold and humid also in August, don't expect a 5 stars room but you know it is not ;)
It was central for visiting relatives and brandsby horses. The landlady was very helpful nothing was to much trouble. The staff were friendly. We will definitely stay again.
There were spiders and cobwebs in the bathroom. Cobwebs behind the bed. I hate spiders. But to be fair the cleaning lady was off ill.
Good food Pleasant Staff
Surroundings and rooms shabby.
Very friendly locals. Almost unique whisky collection. One of Great Britain's greatest pubs. Excellent breakfast.
Breakfast was really nice, and the staff very friendly. Value for money.
Near for visiting RAF Cranwell and nice walks in area.
Rooms in annex to pub and are in need of decorating.
The stay at the gorge hotel was very good we were well looked after. Brakefast was excellent
Right Location for what I needed restaurant food excellent but possibly too much on the plate Quiet room
room needs bringing into the 21st century ,in fact the whole place does. restaurant had an odour that would put some people off but I was too hungry to opt out, Got an excellent deal through booking.com. but wouldn't pay more. you get what you pay for!!!
Mouldy bathroom ...snail trails on the dining room carpet
Friendly staff, breakfast wonderful.
Quiet accommodation. Inexpensive. Easy on site parking. Friendly staff. Nice bar with food available.
Food service and bar were excellent
Room was a bit tired.
The food was well cooked, reasonably presented and good value for money. The bar also ha an excellent choice of whisky
The room we had needed a good spruce-up, it was rather tired, particularly the bathroom. The whole hotel was showing it's age, albeit it does have some history behind it.
