They accept our pet dog 'poodle' and I have already book a room again at this same hotel because of our pet. I have an art exhibition to run in shepton mallet. Also we are very happy to stay there the food is very good. Nothing so far.

It is well located in the lovely little town of Castle Cary which is within easy reach of Wells, Glastonbury and Bath. The staff were lovely and we had a fantastic evening meal there. Would recommend the local cheese board. A little more attention could be given to the cleanliness of the rooms (cobwebs on light fittings and windows and top of headboards were dusty). The bed headboards were a little loose and there seemed to be a lot of furniture everywhere even in halls leading to rooms. For what we paid it was value for money.

Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Building was beautiful and loaded in history. Menu was simple yet had great touches with local and relevant menu choices. Scallops were perfectly cooked and the Pork Belly was one of the best I have had. The room was warm and comfortable on the coldest night of 2012 so far. The locals were welcoming and eager to share local history. I left there with a sense of wanting to return. The rooms were clean and I have an almost ocd desire for cleanliness. There were nice decorative touches and everything worked. Breakfast was delicious and generous - particularly enjoyed the sausages and fresh eggs. It's near to the station - enough to walk - so accessible to those without cars We locked ourselves inside our courtyard room so beware of that (I managed to extricate ourselves without summoning help), there is not much info on the site (Booking.com) about rail station proximity and there was an Elton John cd on loop for too long, although I expect they would have changed the soundtrack should we have bothered to complain - we didn't mind that much and enjoyed the staff singing quietly along

Room was comfortable, clean and quite good value for money. The air handling unit from the kitchen was very noisy when it started up before 8 am on Sunday. Despite requesting vegatarian breakfast in advance of the stay only eggs and tomatoes were available!

Food very good. Excellent location for National Trust properties. Bar"Manager" has no sense of humour or any conversation. Acted like a schoolchild. Also kept rushing us for our evening meal order. We were on holiday therefore want to eat at our leisure, not when the staff want us to.

The George was a very comfortable and welcoming hotel to stay in, with plenty of character! It was situated very close to the Showground where the antique fair was being held - which was the reason we were in the area. We found Castle Carey itself a very nice location to stay and would certainly book in again when we come back into the area! The staff were very attentive and made sure we had a very comfortable and welcoming stay.

A quaint pub/ hotel, lovely public areas to eat and drink. Breakfast was super, cereals, toast , juice, full english or other choices. A small but off road car park. Small suntrap patio garden. Lovely roast dinner on sunday. Lovely refurbished restaurant .Most staff were good. The bedroom let the place down totally, it was odd with a bath in the room behind a shower curtain, the toilet door would not shut, the bedside lamps didnt work.Ceiling border hanging off wall, Was all rather dated and not very cleaned or loved. The curtains lightweight and the fluorescent light shone up from reception. One member of staff lets the place down.

Location was great and the Hotel had lots of character. Staff very helpful, great pub food and breakfast very nice. Room could have been a bit more modern with a few luxuries would have been nice. We had fllorboards so carpet would have been better, though there was some new docorating going on throughout the hotel.

The staff were excellent in that they were most helpful, and the ambience of a genuine old fashioned hotel in a quiet little town was to our liking. The accom ensuite/bedroom could well do with some updating both in decor and firmer mattresses. A choice of fresh/dried fruit would add to the cereal choice at breakfast.

Very relaxing place to stay with friendly staff and excellent food - the breakfast was freshly cooked to order every day and evening meals (not included) were varied and used local produce. Room was very comfortable and a good bed with pure white sheets and cover. Good value for money The shower wasn't very hot

Very friendly staff. Convenient parking. Excellent breakfast. Appeared to be recently refurbished. We had booked a twin room and received confirmation of this but when we arrived were told they only had a double. However, Manager very helpful and provided us with the double and also a single at (obviously) no extra cost.
