The accommodation was excellent. The bed was most comfortable. Couldn't find an iron or ironing board. Very pleased with accommodation. Shame about the services. We arrived at 6pm after a 2 and a half hours journey. Asked reception to send us some milk as we were desperate for a hot drink. None arrived. we did not make a second request as we left to attend a function at 7pm. We returned at 2.30am but no milk was left for coffee next morning. At breakfast, the toast was burnt and cold. I had to request a new lot. The coffee was tepid but we drank it as we did not like to complain again. The cooked breakfast was just warm. We ate half of it and left. I cannot recommend the hotel for 2 reasons (a) your time for breakfast is very unreal as closing time is 9am. Most week end guests would attend an evening function like a wedding party etc which could finish very late. Not many people can make that breakfast time. A more civilised closing time would be 10am or 11 am like most hotels do. I didn't spend all that money to be getting out of bed at 8am on a Sunday morning! (b)Breakfast was very drab. I do not eat cereals and there was nothing else before the cooked breakfast. There could have been yogurt or fruit or sliced bread and butter.

The ambience of the building, and its setting in truly spectacular grounds made this a business trip to remember. I was accompanied by my partner and she was delighted with the whole experience. I travel a lot and have seen many hotels, not too many reach this standard.

Nice grounds. Room was dated and tired. No four poster bed as pictured. Service was terrible. Food wedding dinner was nice but breakfast in the morning was what they wanted to give you not what we wanted to eat. They wouldn't even scramble the eggs at breakfast. You had to have under cooked fried eggs. The duty manager was about 18 and did nothing to resolve our issues.

Our 3rd 3 night stay in two years. Recommended by grandaughter who was a receptionist there. Like the grounds.Like the rooms. Good location for visiting the Gardens of Mid-Sussex and family in Horsham and Burgess Hill. I criticised the menu the 1st visit as it was the same each night and no lamb!! However, that seems to have changed and there was lamb on the menu two nights running and it was excellent. Looked for questionnaire to fill in and wondered why there was not one in the folder!! 1st visit the breakfast chef put out small white cups of honey or coulis to be topped by guest with Greek Yogurt. Sad it no longer happens. It was absolutely delicious! We would like to be able to choose our table in the restaurant, though, and keep it for the duration of our stay.

The quiet location, relaxing atmosphere, and at the same time being near and convenient for getting to Gatwick Airport. All staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We thought that the double room (which was very spacious) should have had a larger and thus more comfortable bed than the standard size.

Friendly staff, plenty parking, lovely gardens. Rooms attractive , clean and bed very comfortable. Bathroom good size and enjoyed tea making facility. Very good location for Gatwick airport. Breakfast freshly cooked and well served, staff very helpful and friendly. Some aircraft noise but not too bad, only to be expected with location so near Gatwick. Only stayed one night so wasn't a problem.

We stayed t this Hotel 22 years ago on our Hneymoon and it was just as lovely as then! Could not fault the staff very attentive. Our room was one of their best, 4 Poster suite usually the Honeymoon suite superb. We just had an overnight stay. We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant too. This Hotel is classed as a 3* why it is not a 4* i cannot imagine................ we will be back! Everything!! especially our room................

The rooms were big which was fab. The staff were also friendly Only thing was for breakfast, I had to ask for more ketchup, the tea pots to be filled, more cutlery etc etc. I shouldn't really have had to ask for these things - the staff should have seen they needed to be done. On that note - I did wonder if perhaps it was understaffed.

Having made a standard double room booking we were not sure what to expect on arrival, but we were pleasantly surprised to find our accommodation was a private cottage with bedroom, bathroom and lounge area where we could relax and unwind. The food was good and it was really nice to be able to explore the beautiful garden surroundings. It was a lovely bit of peace and nice time to de-stress. All staff we interacted with were friendly and accommodating. We only stayed one night but didn't want to leave the comfort of the huge king (or superking) sized bed on check out day. There was nothing we disliked about the hotel and we enjoyed our stay. We liked the cottage we stayed in, but felt it could be improved by updating the decor. Some of the curtains didn't appear to properly fit the windows and carpets were stained in places. Since lighting is a very important part of creating a room's ambience, we felt the lighting arrangements could be improved upon to give it a warmer, more inviting feel. I felt a little cold in the evening in the lounge area of our cottage, but there didn't obviously appear to be any spare blankets to wrap up in, though I am sure reception may have obliged had I asked, but I had an early night instead so I could keep warm. Travel tooth brushes in the room would be a bonus as I accidently forgot mine, though luckily my partner had a spare.

We booked a one night stay at the hotel as we were going to visit family in the area. The room we were given was standard as booked and was a very pleasant room called 'Greenslevees' However we were not happy with the noise level in the room. The room was located above reception and staff office which was quiet noisey every word you were able hear quiet clearly. My husband asked to change to another room but was told there were non available. My husband was told that the office closed at 9p.m. and would we would have a quiet night. Howerver that was not the case. From around 11.30p.m. there was constant chatter and laughter till 1.20a.m. when my husband went down to reception to see what was going on and to ask people to be more quiet. It was mainly staff congregating in reception and office as they were coming to the end of thier shift. The under manager offered my husband tea which he accepted as we were well awake by then. It was then we made the decision to pack and leave at 2a.m. in the morning and travel back to Dorset as we felt we would not get back to sleep for some time and then probably woke early when the staff turned up for the morning shift. We will not stay hear again.

since we brought our two dogs it is always a treat when a hotel claiming dog-friendly actuall is dog-friendly not a big deal, but as a seasoned traveller you always get a bit exasperated when the hotel feels the need to tell to dress smartly for the restauarant....

Very comfortable, helpful staff, superbe quality breakfast. Lack of choice on the Sunday evening menu. Same price as the varied choice on Saturday night but only roast lamb, roast beef and roast pork on the Sunday. We ate out at a local pub instead.
