The owners are very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is home made and enjoyable!
For older travellers, or those with physical limitations, it would be important to know that for this 3 story B&B, while the setting, decor and amenities are very good--there is no elevator--making it difficult to get luggage to a 3rd floor unit.
Warm, friendly, helpful hosts. Very good breakfast. Very clean and comfortable.
very welcoming, extremely clean ,very comfy bed and a delicious breakfast.Near enough to walk into centre of Edinburgh but there is also a bus.Highly recommended.
There was only one thing that did not spoil our stay but we could not connect to WiFi think it was because we were on the top floor. But to be honest everything was excellent.
+ very friendly and hospital couple + great breakfast service
everything absolutely perfect!
Places was absolutely faultless
Lovely breakfast. Owners most helpful, think they've thought of everything. Would definitely stay here again :-)
Excellent b&b, recommended, great and attentive hosts. Scrumptious breakfast (the one day I managed to win the jet-lag and wake up early enough).
The room was large and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. My favorite was the Scottish porridge! Hosts were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back.
It took us longer than expected to walk to the Royal Mile - more like 40 minutes rather than 20. We probably should have taken a bus instead.
A comfortable room in an attractive building a short bus ride from down town. Add that to friendly, helpful owners and it is one of the best choices you can make.
we would recommend Gifford House for its value for money, comfort and the friendliness of the owners. This is an excellent place to stay.
Very welcoming, we arrived early and that was no problem. I highly recommend staying at Gifford House.
Third floor has lots of stairs. Pack light
Excellent location, just 10 minutes from Royal Mile by bus. There is a bus stop in front of hotel. My room was very big, all facilities available, very clean and comfortable bed. Silent room. The guest house is managed by a couple , who makes all efforts to make you feel at home. As I had to leave the hotel the next day early in the morning, they left a mini bar in the breakfast room with sandwiches, juice, milk and yoghurt just for me. Always prompt to give any information I needed. I strongly recommend this guest house in Edinburgh.
No negative points.
The room was lovely, beds comfortable, reception was warm and friendly, breakfast was excellent.
On-street parking. The front rooms are subject to some street noise.
The hotel is within walking distance to city centre (25 mins), also on a bus route. Hotel also lovely, very clean, fresh, spacious bedroom. The family were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed breakfast, lots of choice, (cereal, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, and full English breakfast).
Friendly and welcoming
More of a full English breakfast than a full Scottish breakfast. Was looking forward to black pudding and tattie scones! But the service made up for it!!
Even before we arrived our hosts Margaret and David were very helpful providing useful advice on finding Gifford House. They continued to provide useful information on buses, dining, sightseeing etc. Our room was on the top floor and of course there were no lifts but the exercise was good each day (We were there for 4 days). The room was beautifully decorated, was very quiet and the compact ensuite was well presented and clean. The breakfast was a treat each day, my husband loving the scrambled eggs with salmon! Extra touches were the bowls of both fresh fruit and chocolates, freely available to guests. The bus stop, just across the road, with a 10 minute trip into town made sightseeing very easy!
David started breakfast early to accommodate my schedule.
Very clean. The owners are friendly & informative. We got great recommendations for places for dinner & a near by pub. The house is clean & neat. Good location in the City. We would stay there again in a minute! Street parking was just around the corner. We were traveling with another couple & we had a bottle of wine in our room one night before dinner, the 'house' supplied the wine glasses! There was a safe to use in the room. The couple seemed to enjoy having the guest house! That's nice!
Frankly, the bathroom was a bit cramped but everything worked and was clean.
Margaret and David, our hosts, were wonderful. Went out of their way to accomodate our schedule, and our need to chill our beer. Very good breakfast and most comfortable bed.
The walk to the Royal Mile was a little longer than I thought it would be. We are in good shape, so it was no problem for us, but would be for those who have walking problems.
Friendly owners,large rooms,good breakfasts,fast wi-fi.
Only on street parking, can be difficult to find a space. Need to take bus/ taxi to city centre.
David and Margaret great hosts. Good breakfast, not too far from town so was nice and quiet. We stayed in a twin room, very spacious and comfortable.
Extremely accomodating owners, nothing is too much trouble. I recommend the creamy porridge for breakfast. Great stay!
Warm welcome. clean room. Great location. good breakfast.
