The proprietor & his wife are very welcoming & anxious that all goes well for your stay. An outside water main burst while I was there, but they moved me to another room which had a separate water feed & then reduced my bill by £10 to 'make up' for any discomfort I had experienced.

Traditional scottish hospitality. Spotlessly clean, renovated, comfortable. Very good choice for visiting Edinburgh. The city centre is 20 min. Walking or 5min bus ride.

The staff was very nice and they had a large selection of movies to watch as well as lovely rooms and a hill nearby if you like climbing. The breakfast in the morning was also excellent. If there was one thing I had to pick, it would be that the clothing hooks in the bathroom were the kind that stick onto walls and they fell off. The soap dish was also broken but it looked perfectly fine. Those were very minor things and we enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel looks well maintained and kept otherwise.

Breakfast was very good, good selection of both continental and Scottish. Bed was very comfortable, hosts and staff very nice. Enjoyed our stay. The shower had poor temperature control, either really hot or very cold.

The house itself was beautifully presented and absolutely spotlessly clean and tidy; and the welcome was warm without being overbearing. The breakfast was brilliant, the room was perfect and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. I could not fault anything, especially in terms of value for money. The standard being set by the owners was excellent by northern European standards and simply out of this world by Scottish or English standards. I will certainly stay at Gifford House again. Everything was exactly as one hopes it always will be but rarely finds. Well done to the owners.

Lovely hotel, the owner was very nice and helpful, recommending places to visit. The room was a good size, very clean. A 20 minute walk from the centre and nice view of Arthur's Seat. Would definitely recommend this hotel! Nothing bad to say.

The staff was helpfull and friendly. Breakfast was ok. The beds are to small (190 cm) and in à terrible state. Fixed with stuff I feel all night. I missed The b&b feeling. It was more à small hotel. And for that price It was to expensive. It was à De Luxe Room but that was only for The price.
