Gifford House was very clean, beautifully decorated, convenient. The staff/owner were very friendly and helpful. Free parking is on street, so could be difficult to find.

I found Gifford House unspoiled the traditional architecture was pleasing to the eye the decor was excellent, the whole house was spotless, the furniture was very comfortable and the beds were excellent and sleep away from home was very easily achieved and restful. The large tv in the room and multiple channel choice with option for internet facilities was also excellent. The choice of in room hot drinks was excellent also as was the on suite facility. The window views were straight on to the local venue of Arthur's seat and the fresh mountain air was cool and refreshing,The owners were very friendly and helpful both with information and assisting with travel, the whole experience was most enjoyable and it was sad that we had to leave so soon. But our thanks go to David and Margaret for a most pleasant stay.

The owners of Gifford House have embraced the chance to renovate a wonderful little row house with large corridors and rooms. They have been successfully running this quaint B&B since the late 80's. It was refreshing to be able to stay at a quality location with a well maintained, clean and friendly environment with a home cooked breakfast (great scrambled eggs!). The price is representative of B&B's in Edinburgh but I doubt that the quality of others matches. Alas there are not many places in the world like Gifford House, if there were, city hopping in Europe would be a much more pleasurable experience. Please be sure to inform the owners of your arrival time as we forgot which was a little embarrassing. The bus fair to Gifford House costs £1.40 from the Royal Mile and buses leave frequently until late at night. Walking would take 40-50 minutes. The advantage of this out of town location is it's proximity to Arthur's Seat, so be sure to pack some running shoes!

1. Margaret and David are very hospitable and are glad to be of help and inform you on everything about Edinburgh. 2. the house is warm which could be essential in such a place like Scotland and in a very good condition, we had excellent linen which smelled nice and bathroom was cleaned daily 3. Breakfasts are great and big enough for a hungry man!! We preferred walking home every day instead of using a bus, so the distance from the city centre with some bags was a bit annoying, though buses are often ant take 5 mins max (single ticket price to north bridge for 2 was £2.4 Another minor point was a bit low water pressure in the shower ( our room was on the top floor) though I managed to wash my thick hair anyway, so it is just a minor thing

Very comfortable, quiet and pleasant place. Great breakfast. Our room has great view of Arthur's seat. Run by a lovely couple who went our of their way to help us. I would definitely go back here. The shower room was a bit small, and the shower was a bit weak.

Chosen because of its location (just 1 1/4 mile outside centre) right next to Arthurs Seat :£7 taxi from station /£1:40 bus or walk which we did twice. David welcomed us and gave us maps and other info. Bedroom 4(family) was massive and beautifully decorated. Very ornate high ceiling, comfy bed. Plentiful breakfast, set us up for the day. David even sold me his haggis from the fridge at a givaway price to bring home for relatives..Thankyou so much for our stay...yes ..we would go back again.Pamela & Ray

We stayed at the Gifford Hotel over night when we went to the Playhouse Theatre to see a show. The hotel was well situated for this & if you want to see the best of Edinburgh it is the best place to be not to far out but far enough to be away for a quiet comfortable night's sleep ready for the next day.The owners were very welcoming & made us feel at home. We will be returning. 5*****

We stayed overnight as a party of 3 on a Stag do (3 men aged 26 - 32) in a triple room. The room was superb with a large comfortable bed each and a key each. The room was clean and well organised and decorated in a very tasteful and modern way. The owners were keen for our stay to go well and were happy to help us with any request. Breakfast was good and the city centre very close. The price was excellent and offered superb value for money. Thankyou.

Friendly welcome, good location for us ( we don't mind a walk into the city) but it is not far in a taxi either (~£6). Superb hot breakfast cooked to order. Very comfortable rooms. Relaxed atmosphere.

The proprietor & his wife are very welcoming & anxious that all goes well for your stay. An outside water main burst while I was there, but they moved me to another room which had a separate water feed & then reduced my bill by £10 to 'make up' for any discomfort I had experienced.
