Bed was comfortable and food was good, friendly staff
Access road is a bit of a pain, especially when you are behind the bin men
70's Time warp. From décor, to menu.
The gardens are lovely with entertaining rabbits. The staff are very friendly and anxious to ensure guests have everything they need. The food was very good.
The hotel is a nightmare to find. Some signage at the M5 junction would be helpful, to indicate where exactly the hotel is situated.
Excellent location for Exeter and the M5. Have stayed there many times and always been pleased with the service and the food. Nice grounds and good view from room.
views where good
wifi kept bombing out all the time very frustrating
Being in the bungalow in a car park !
Efficiency and helpfulness of staff
Directions would help as it is tucked away
nothing i didn.t like
Friendly staff and good food
I arrived just as the bar was closing, the receptionist could see I was a weary traveller and organised a well deserved pint of bitter for me to be waiting on the bar after I dropped the bag in the room, Quality! Thank you
We had the room on the ground floor next to car park very noisy from people talking no private at all,the internet is poor.
Decor bit tired. Would have like to have seen a change of dinner menu.
Huge rooms, staff and the FOOD
We stayed in the Maple wing over the kitchens and it was very noisy with clattering and banging until late in the night and early for breakfast. Also, there was a van parked under the window its alarm went off 3x during the night. The night staff didn't seem too bothered and let it alarm. The cherry in the cake, a fire alarm at 05.30. Not impressed. It's a shame because the hotel in its self was lovely.
I liked that staff made me welcome, were friendly, but not overly familiar; they asked me about my day, had good advice and recommendations about routes to where I wanted to visit as I'd not been back to Exeter for so long. They made my stay better than I expected as I'd not travelled alone before and the evening meals were really, really excellent.
To be honest I can't think of anything I did'nt like, not even a little bit.
Friendly staff Nice big room and comfortable bed Big bathroom Good food
Motorway a little bit but we knew that when we booked
good clean rooms, plenty parking. good breakfast. pleasant helpful staff
floorboards creaked, room was in directly over kitchens so for few hours late at night could hear kitchen staff cleaning up.
The staff work hard to make you feel welcome and to respond to your needs. The breakfast had all the trimmings. Bathroom was clean and up to date.
The rooms and common areas all need upgrading. Paint, wallpaper, carpet, plaster--all could stand to be refreshed. The location is near the M5, so be prepared for background road noise (albeit not obtrusive).
Well placed to M5, Almpst rural
M5 noise sussurating all the time
Food was excellent.
Dirty towels from previous occupants still in bathroom but we all make mistakes at sometime.
The hotel was perfectly located being close to the M5 in breaking our journey down South and very close to the park and ride so we were able to easily explore Exeter. The staff were friendly and helpful making us feel very welcome and the food was excellent. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable and overall we found Gypsy Hill a very enjoyable overnight stop and we would definitely return.
Decent meal Free wifi Price Good bed linen.
Tired decor Bar had no quiet area for eating (TV very loud)
Staff friendliness Excellent food in the restaurant in the evening. Very good breakfast with a lot of choices.
Room a bit tired, could do with a lick of paint.
Some excellent dishes on the dinner menu, and excellent breakfasts. Friendly staff and nice grounds. Good location for city, airport, and surrounding coast/countryside.
Unreliable wifi reception in one residential block. Reception desk sometimes chaotic, and manned by non-receptionists. Unwilling to adjust cost of extra meals when partner admitted to hospital and therefore unable to take prepaid breakfasts. Shame - spoilt an otherwise pleasant stay.
The food was very good. Garden was very pleasnat too. Bathroom was very clean. Bed comfortable.
Service at brekfast: When my friend nas I asked for two coffees we got a pot of tea and coffee. The lady did not seem to be on the ball. second morning I did not get coffee at all she seemed to disappear somewhere. Very limited choice of breakfast. TV: the tv or rather the box would stop working weired set up. Rooms: dated and hot
