A really friendly hotel, in a good location for the West Country. Very clean, tidy and welcoming. The food was excellent - at breakfast there was a good choice and it was well cooked and presented. Evening meals are excellent again, with a good choice to suit all pockets but of a high standard all the time. The only real problem was that the decoration was a little dated - mis matched curtains and four poster bed dressing. The bathroom was clean and with a good shower and plenty of hot water, but the sink was cracked and it had a coloured suite. The public areas are just a little dated.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the annex which was lovely and quiet. Dinner was good, the menu a little basic and breakfast was excellent. Wonderful choice and very good quality. The hotel was a little hard to find.

Location was good - the special Easter break offer was the main attraction compared to other offers, staff were friendly and a good breakfast The hotel is in bad need of rennovation in the main hotel area including rooms and general facilities, 80's type look and feel

We chosse this hotel, because it was the deal of the day. The room was ok, but we wouldn't take it for the regular price. It was located in a side building. Which has seen better days anyway. Was Ok for one night, but we wouldn't choose the hotel for a longer stay. Dinner was average. Breakfast was very good (buffet). The side building isn't very comfortable at all. Lot of stuff laying around.

Good staff, nice hotel and brilliant breakfast. The room was spotless and very pleasant!! Well worth staying again. My only concern is the map showing how to get to the hotel needs updating to show the new road layout off the m5. We managed to find it ok by following signs for Gipsy Hill off the m5. The hotel are trying to get the Ordnance Survey maps to update their map of the local roads so hopefully this will be sorted soon. Please don't let this put you off this very nice hotel.

We weren't there long enough to see which of the above characterised the hotel. In general, it was a very nice place to stay. We were most impressed by the spaciousness of the bedroom and the dining-room; the excellent customer service and (with the exception of a breakfast which could have been a little warmer) the high standard of the meals. The setting was very good (but see below), even if the proximity to the m5 was quite obvious (but no complaints about that - if customers don't look at the map before they book, that's down to them). On one point only can the hotel be faulted. Although one of us is/was an Exonian, the place was exceptionally difficult to find. We saw only one directional sign, very close to the hotel itself. Even if the hotel has no interest in attracting 'passing trade', I would have thought that more direction-boards could be placed from the roundabout near the m5 onwards.

The staff ,the location, and the price. The evening meal provided value and taste The bed was uncomfortable.there was no hot water available in the room so no showers or baths and very little to wash in.The staff dealt with the problem best they could and the duty manager offered a discount against the bill. The breakfast let itself down badly by being cool otherwise there was variety and quantity

The only quibble I would have is that the tv in my room was a little dated with no freeview, however with that in mind I would most definitely visit again as every member of staff was welcoming and made every effort to do anything to please guests. It was quite refreshing to have a relaxing break with a hotel full of well mannered staff and guests. I went home relaxed and happy. A big thank you to the lovely staff :) I cannot complain about anything. It really is true that having the right staff with the right personalities makes your stay. If I had to think of something, I didnt like my pie at tea time, but thats my own fault for trying to eat it before it had cooled down and burned my tongue.
