Spacious rooms, old country house with appropriate atmosphere, lovely grounds. Excellent English breakfast. Family room worked very well for 2 single women - 1 double and 2 single beds with lots of space. Did not know the bar and dining room would be closed for dinner on a Saturday evening. No-one available to ask; had to drive for miles looking for somewhere to eat.

Fantastic room with four poster bed and loads of space. There were 3 of us in the room and you could have fitted more in. The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough to help. I would definitely go back there.

We chose the hotel as out relatives were having their wedding and reception there. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food very good, an excellent wedding meal and a very good breakfast. A problem with our room meant we were upgraded to a superior room at no extra charge. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. A little more attention to minor maintenance would improve this hotel. Eg Radiator valves, paintwork around windows etc. .

Quiet location, unusual house. I enjoyed staying in a building with lots of character and a little quirkiness. Superior bedroom was large with two large armchairs and a small table with two chairs and decoration was good. There was a large well appointed bathroom. Country house hotels are different and you should only choose them if that is what you want. They are not always perfect and not as up to date as they might be. If a little quirkiness is what you like then go for it, it makes a nice change. You must be prepared for facilities that can be a little variable, old houses are like that. Our shower struggled to reach a comfortable temperature and one morning went completely cold for at least a minute. However if you are looking for consistent facilities then stay at a Premier Inn, we regularly do.

Gissing Hall is a very grand place (which is what attracted us to it ) and thought it woukld be ideal to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary with friends who were also celebrating their ruby anniversary. THe rooms were very nice and comfortable (deluxe ) although they needed a bit of tlc, however the restaurant and bar were closed for the duration and this put a bit of a damper on the weekend as we had to walk to the local pub for our meals. I would like to go back when it is fully functional

I was the only guest that night and had a late arrival, no-one was there to meet me (which was fine as they had contacted me during the day to check this was ok) so as 'compensation' I was upgaded to a honeymoon suite and found a bottle if iced beer waiting for me on arrival. Very nice!! For business-people, starting breakfast a little earlier would be useful

The white four-poster bed, the shutters, and the rather extraordinary shower, and the room's position on the ground floor looking out onto the lawn. My husband wished for biscuits on the tea tray, and the mirror was rather low for him, showing no head and little chest. The bed creaked, and we felt a sign to say if the tapwater was ok for drinking would be helpful. However, all this was totally trivial

Room was lovely, booked the honeymoon suite after getting married..breakfast, good selection, well presented... No reception or staff on arrival, keys and a note left on a cupboard.. Didn,t see anyone for a few hours, then it was other guests looking as bewildered as us. Bar and restaraunt was closed (6pm) was informed we should have been told on booking, which we weren,T.. (Even when I phoned up 3 days before hand to confirm, we still weren,t told) had to walk to the nearest pub, in the rain to get a meal and a drink.(no coats, as we didn,t expect to be leaving the hotel) very unprofessional........

It had a clean smell, not easy to achieve in such an old building. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. We arrived late in the evening and had to ring a bell to wait a few minutes for someone to arrive and let us in. The place was in darkness. It worked out fine, but for a few minutes I was not comfortable that we would have a room for the night. .

Great food , great staff , very helpfull. In need of a little tlc on the whole hotel , wasnt always clean , for the price we paid per night , a little over priced in view of its present condition , will look a lot better when its had a full referb , and then I would return to see how it looks

A very pleasant house with a long and varied history. It is situatedin a somewhat isolated location and is set in well maintained grounds. Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was adequate. Our reception was rather cool and indifferent but it was late on a Sunday evening. The water in our room (g3) was not very hot but relatives on the first floor said theirs was very hot. No sugar was available at breakfast.

The restaurant was very good, but I wish we'd known beforehand that it would be closed the night we arrived. The most expensive room of the two rooms our family had was the more poorly fitted out, which was a little bizarre. The shower had very little pressure and was very small and awkward to use. The decor was old and dated and even had an old box tv! The other, cheaper, room had obviously been refurbished and had a lovely new bathroom fitted.

As a disabled person the ground floor room was easily accessed with plenty of space to move round in a wheelchair. The bathroom was excellent. Food was good staff were friendly and helpful. Single steps to all day rooms and restaurant. View from window in our ground floor room spoilt by foliage.

My room was really spacious and well furnished. It was also very clean. My friends said their rooms were lovely too. There were 2 public sitting rooms and a bar - all in all a nice country hotel. My room was only just warm enough using the maximum setting.

A lovely rural location but all a bit tired in the rooms. Very uneven, slightly unstable floors, walls need some paint, we had a portable 12 inch colour CRT TV! The public areas were much better and the breakfast was very good!

The getaway location in a rural Norfolk village. Beautiful setting. High quality conversion of a very old manor house into a country hotel. Very frriendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Would have preferred more choices on the dinner menu.

I have stayed in the hotel on business for many years. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was not open - advised in advance. The bar was not open when the hotel said it would be.
