Clean and comfortable hotel, food and drinks at the bar were excellent if a little pricey. Good facilities and very comfy beds.
Rooms are a little tired and in need of decoration
Checked in and found our bathroom door didn't close and had a hole in it. Towel rail hanging off the wall and then toilet handle fell off. Moved to another room which was ok, but decor in both grubby and tired.
Location Staff on reception very good
Staff in dining room at breakfast very slow to clear dirty plates etc. Hotel on the whole looking a bit tired!
Close proximity to hydro and the clyde
Breakfast was so good, lots of variety and very attentive staff, two mornings was not enough time to sample all that was on offer.
The shower door was not watertight so the floor was soaking.. a small complaint as I would return again and again...
We normally stay at the hilton garden inn however that at time of booking was more expensive than the crowne plaza. The facilities here were great and the food was excellent. The catering staff were polite and couldn't do enough to help.
On our confirmation email check in stated 2pm however we were greeted with a grumpy receptionist who said it had been changed to 3pm. It wasn't a problem however it would have been nice to be told.
The room was lovely with a great view and of a decent size with all facilities in room and no need to contact the desk. The room service menu had more than just snacks. On site facilities such as beauty treatments all easily accessible and reasonable priced
At breakfast there was no explanation of where everything was eg the porridge and toast was in a separate location to everything else and if any particular items like boiled eggs were available
Close to the convention centre
This place is ideal if you want to experience what its like to go back in time. A perfect and pleasant indulgence for anyone who likes to queue endlessly at the service desk with a problem, and have your essential enquiry answered in fluent russian, directed to another russian speaking assistant rather than yourself. The internet was listed as being unlimited download high speed: it is probably high speed compared to the 1980's but not compared to anywhere else in the world currently. The room near the lift is ideal for those who want to stay awake all night due to noise, and its hard to go past the disco-ball type decor under the indoor canvas near the bar. I nearly celebrated another birthday while waiting to collect my checked luggage. Remember to get there a couple of hours early for breakfast as the number of people with coupons looking for a table is probably 3 times the number of seats. All at only double the price of a US hotel!!!
Room was clean and modern. Staff were helpful and the breakfast was great with plenty of choice.
We were only on the second floor but took the glass elevator up to the top to see the views. The twin room was ok but so is a budget hotel ok, for the price is was a bit disappointing.
We stayed in the Central station hotel last year and it was the same price but we had dressing gowns, slippers and breakfast included, it also had information on the history of the hotel which I bought as a momento.
I booked this hotel because it was so close to the hydro where we were going that night. But from start to finish I loved every minute of this hotel, I booked club class and will always book this first class treatment. I was a little dissapointed that we could not use the swimming pool because there was to much cholrine in the water. But I can't wait to return to this hotel maybe even for longer next time.
Evening food was very nice. Room was fine but remote missing for TV! It did arrive promptly when we phoned reception.
Swimming pool was closed. We were wakened 3 times during the night/early morning with some sort of alarm call. Embarrassment in bar at night when we tried to charge drinks to our room and we're told no yet we had swiped a credit card on arrival. Service at breakfast was very poor. We had to ask for bowls, plates, orange juice as none left. Also for tea/coffee which we were told would be brought to us.
Staff Morning breakfast Facilities Location
Over priced Lack of bar staff Info in room
Lovely location. Close to SECC and centre of town was just a short taxi ride away.
Our room next to the lifts which needed an oil/grease as we could hear the lifts in the morning. Our room was meant to be in a quiet zone but no peace for us with those lifts squeaking
Enjoyed every minute, nice room, nice sized bed, relaxing bar, unhurried breakfast in the morning, definitely retuning 5 star performance.
Location - walking distance to the city centre but pleasantly situated in a quiet area overlooking the Clyde. Excellent breakfast room staff and very good facilities.
We had an Executive Room. Superb. Access to the wine and tapas was a real bonus! Food was superb. Great Western Australian wine. Very friendly staff. Unbelievably clean and modern. Parking gave easy access to hotel
The venue for an awards dinner is perfect. Loved the location on the Clyde - easy to get to and within short reach of city centre
