Penryn was chosen as a central place to stay, whilst visiting the sights we wanted to visit (Lands End, Tintagel, St. Michaels Mount and St. Ives). Therefore we cannot say much about the town itself, as we never visited it.

A real place with real people, shops and lives in an often spoilt by tourist Cornwall. Some really good pubs (try the Famous Barrell) / brilliant classy fish and chip shop (The Mariners) / cafe with cakes and coffee to die for (Stargazy Cucina) with lots more on the Fal Estuary at the bottom of the hill and lots of buses to Falmouth/Newquay and Truro (much used by students at the local university) - and all in a really interesting and ancient stone town.

Lovely historic town with interesting buildings.
Lovely historic town with interesting buildings. Set on the Falmouth estuary. Beautiful scenery and lots of gardens and historic houses to visit. Very good public transport links by bus to Falmouth, Penzance, etc. Free parking. Very friendly locals and students (it's part of the Exeter/Falmouth campus). Two pubs with good food at competitive prices, one of which, the Thirsty Scholar, has this year's Gold Award for pub food in the South West, which is richly deserved.

It's a very cute little place, not a huge amount to do but it's very close to Falmouth, which has a lot more on offer. The high Street is all up hill so if someone has health or mobility issues, this possibly wouldn't be the most ideal place to go. The best place to stay and eat is The Thirsty Scholar, this place, the food and staff are exceptional! Parking is a bit of a pain, the closest car park is a 3hour max short stay so you need to go to a long stay one, which is an up hill trek to the pub and high street

Penryn is the poor relation, a small town between Truro and Falmouth and though a bit old fashioned, it is quirky and is worth a visit. It has a long history - longer than Falmouth; it has quite a bit of interest, is on the water and is very conveniently located. I doubt if it's a family holiday base itself, but it is situated close to a huge range of amenities. Worth considering if Falmouth and Truro are too expensive

Great location with many local cafe’s (Pips cafe, Muddy beach) and free car parks. Amazing fish and chips (mariners) and so close too Falmouth and a great beach.
Amazing little hidden streets and a history trail for the kids.
Sea gulls at early morning not so good…..
The Merchant's House, with its fascinating history, is a wonderful place to stay in Penryn. Excellent central location and private off-street parking is a huge bonus. The house has been beautifully renovated to a modern standard, yet at the same time it retains so many lovely, intriguing features of its past. The rooms and beds were all comfortable, and the bright sky-lit kitchen is a well-equipped delight. The hosts are gracious, very pleasant and helpful, quickly responding to a question that arose.
Newly refurbished accommodation and fit our family of 5 comfortably. Came with a washer, dryer and fully equipped kitchen which was very handy! Had everything we would ever need for our stay - everything was well placed and explained properly. The property had a parking which is very useful - and its right in the centre of Penryn which was a good base for us as we explored Cornwall. I thought this was very reasonably priced for the quality - would definitely recommend!
The barn is very comfortable and spacious, with a nice outside area and BBQ. It is newly fitted out with quality appliances, and was one point, the home of the owner. More generally, the place is well placed for a hub and spoke touring of south and west Cornwall, meeting our requirements, but not for those that want to a five minute drive to the beach. The host, Chloe was super-helpful and communicative via the messaging service for the duration of our stay.
Brand new facilities, very clean, very secure, lovely friendly pub downstairs. Although no breakfast was served, they left a thoughtful cooler box full of breakfast stuff (cereal bars, porridge etc). Also, coffee, tea, Cornwall hot chocolate in the window sill. I would come back to stay there anytime I come to Penryn.
Was delighted with room and en suite
Ate in evening at pub food was lovely and I can honestly say good value for money,, especially in Cornwall where the prices for a room with breakfast has gone through the roof! We met host at breakfast & she was lovely would not hesitate to stay again or recommend Thank you
Loved the location, the animals, the owners and the time they took to show us round the farm. Was very good with the children and let them hold and stroke the animals. Dogs and puppies also very friendly and fun. Nice to arrive to a cream tea. Close to Penryn and interesting places to visit.
Location was great, in central Penryn, and within easy distance of roads to the rest of Cornwall. Flat was within a short walk of pubs, restaurants, water and town generally - Flat was modern and well designed and had virtually everything a couple would need.
We have stayed at this property before and it was great, again. It is in the perfect place for us to visit our daughter, who lives in Penryn.
We did have a problem with the wifi when we arrived, but it was sorted straight away. Thanks!!
Bev is an excellent and attentive host and is very welcoming to your stay. It's a good place to stay for further exploring of Cornwall and with the Verdant brewery nearby, highly recommended for beer lovers alike.
Given that I left my booking until just a week before travelling, I didn't hold much hope of getting a room at this popular hotel. Clean & comfortable, an excellent pub downstairs & transport links nearby.
Location is lovely, nice and quiet. Nice walks nearby including a lake 5 minutes from the property. Ample parking. Short drive to Falmouth town centre and beaches. Owner very friendly.
The cottage was just right, warm and welcoming, had all of the amenities that we needed and was centrally located for access to the center of Penryn, buses and trains.
Wonderful hosts, very friendly and so helpful .Also a great choice for breakfast. Great position easy walking distance to the town and also a nice walk into Falmouth
