The whole experience couldnt be faulted, high standard of service.
Nothing to fault
The rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of hot and cold drinks, cereals, yoghurts etc. and there were plenty of options for the cooked food (including E.G. vegetarian cooked breakfast, Manx kippers). All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend Glen Mona as a value for money base to see Douglas and the rest of the island.
In our room, wifi only available near to the door. To be fair, I imagine this is not unusual with wifi and might vary from room to room. Anyway, it wasn't a big problem.
Convenient location, comfortable, friendly staff and prompt service.
Very nice hotel nothing to much bother.
the rooms were clean and tidy, the bathroom was clean and towels changed daily, the bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful, the hq was a nice pleasant bar and restaurant
large clean comfortable room
breakfast only fair worst fried eggs I've ever seen didn't risk eating them
The rooms were big and modern. Plenty of space for the three of us.
A bit of a walk to the bars and shops.
Bedrooms very hot
Great breakfast but was very early for a weekend not much of a lie in!!!
Maria was so special! Her breakfast service made me as a solo guest very special and not so alone.
Shower in room was hard to turn on,however when I got it on, it worked.
CLEANLINESS, ROOM SPACIOUS, FOOD PLENTIFUL AND SUCCULENT. ABLE TO STAY IN ROOM TILL 11.00 p.m. ON DAY OF DEPARTURE SITUATED MID PROM, BUS STOP AT BOTTOM OF ROAD.
Friendly & helpful staff, the food both breakfast & evening meal were wholesome and very enjoyable. It all made for a wonderful break after the heat of Portugal.
Dripping pipe outside window. Room size.
Love the place, will go again. Good staff, good food.
Handy being in douglas , close to everything we needed, brakfast was ok and staff were good , when they could understand you
The glen mona hotel ? was not a hotel ,it was a b&b not as advertised , you walk up the street 50yds for breakfast , we were in room 10 which was in the roof space (what a hike). No reception, had to walk the 50yds up the road to another hotel to book in and out.
The room was good,Staff helpful
Walking to Mereside for Breakfast, Hot Breakfast buffet poor and badly managed(Food prepared before 7 am kept warm until 9-30 am) Unmanned rooming house. No Lift
All the staff are very professional and helpful at all times
Good staff.spacious room (exec) with new bathroom.sister hq bar nearby served good breakfast.
Street noise....people and traffic into early hours.
Staff very helpful Excellent location Good Wifi access, at least in the groundfloor room I was in.
Staff are rude. No lift no help with cases. No bar and breakfast was up the hill in another hotel. Wifi didn't work. No clean towels and the ones we we're given had holes in. Room was tiny. Very noisy. Shower didn't work properly. I suffer from a bad hip and Asked to be moved to different room and was told NO. Only stayed 2nights out of our 5. Was told we had to pay for all 5 nights. My daughter in law found us a lovely room in the empress hotel for the duration of our break. Wouldn't recommend glen mona. My son comes to the island every year for the rally and he's appalled at the treatment we where shown. I will be contacting booking.com for a refund on some of the cost of the hotel.
Breakfast kipper was fab! and the stay was very cheap, great value
The check in process is a bit strange - Glen Mona doesn't appear to be staffed, you have to go up to HQ bar. which is fine, but it could all be explained a bit better.
Clean rooms, quiet with comfortable bedding.
Good sized room. Clean well appointed bathroom. Good food at restaurant.
Fixed shower head. Walk up the road to separate reception and restaurant. Wi fi signal low.
The Glen Mona is one of three small guest houses run by HQ. You had to go up the street to the HQ restaurant to check in - not a problem. The location in Douglas is good. HQ offered a good, varied breakfast menu and ran a nice small pub. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful (I needed an iron, they found one), and the hotel offers free WiFi — a big plus when traveling (in many places that claim to have free WiFi, Manx Telecom charges £1 a day).
The yahoos in the room next door who came home drunk two nights (early mornings) in a row, shouting, laughing and slamming doors. Something to anticipate when you're staying in more economical lodgings, unfortunately.
Buffet style breakfast (with extra choices e.g. Kippers/Haddock) meaning you had real choice and could take as little or as much as you liked. Electronic door locks, so I could come & go just as I pleased. Coffee making facilities that were replenished every day.
Lack of parking adjacent to property, having to climb 6 flights of stairs to my room!
