Score from 424 reviews Fabulous
Nice comfortable four poster bed Tasty breakfast with plenty of choice Able to leave the car in car park after checking out which enabled us to enjoy the stroll into Bowness. Both Windermere and Bowness are a short stroll away
Nothing to dislike. Poor WIFI connection in our room, however this was not a problem for us.
The hotel itself had everything we wanted and needed for a weekend breakaway. Its location proved to be helpful and made life easy. Mornings were welcomed with a filling and satisfying breakfast. Couldn't have asked for more from a last minute booking.
Room was cold
Very good food and friendly service
We were staying just the one night as were were going to a wedding. We were allowed to check in ealry in order to get ready. The room was very clean and the bathroom looked like it had been newly fitted. There was a hairdryer and everything else you might need. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. We didn't have the breakfast as we decided to sleep in instead after a heavy night! The staff were frindly and helpful. In general, the hotel was just what we needed.
The warm room , very comfortable bed, very nice bathroom and shower. Restaurant provided very good food and the breakfast was first class. The staff were very good.A hotel I would go back too.
8.30am breakfast time a bit late for business men.
Meals and service especially the apple crumble!
Stairs and road noise
Our room was well presented and the en-suite modern and clean. The beds were very comfortable too. Everything we needed was provided. Very friendly reception and good food in the restaurant.
There was nothing we didn't like
Time to relax and friendly staff
made welcome, very clean, great breakfast, bowness has good restaurants especially the spinnery and the hole in the wall pub
Pleasant staff, vg breakfast, dinner limited choice but good though on expensive side.
Staff very courteous and service was excellent.the beds were very comfortable.excellent location
There wasn't anything not to like!!!
The staff were very helpful and put us at ease.
Location Value for money in the restaurant
We paid £120 for one night as the room had a spa bath, but, the bath was so small you couldn't lie down. The room was nice but abit over priced.
Was a lovely stay in a great place.
Please sort the creaking floorboards above room 4 we were woke at 6am Saturday and Sunday by people walking about
The staff were fabulous.. A warm welcome as soon as we arrived and the customer service was spot on.. We stayed in room 6 which was full of everything we needed to relax.. Prompt breakfast and all served with a smile.. We will return as we value their hospitality and welcome..
A bit creaky from the room upstairs but it all added to a nice stay..
Well run hotel, friendly attentive staff, hearty breakfast and the kids loved the bunk beds.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Food was excellent. Look forward to returning!
Nice little hotel between Windermere and Bowness, friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room, good and plentiful breakfast, nice evening meal which made for a very pleasant three night break.
We liked the cosy homely feeling of the hotel, which was spotlessly clean with a warm welcome from the staff. An ideal location to come back to after a long lovely day in the countryside. Would recommend for a comfortable stay.
No negative comments to make
We liked the location of the hotel along with the friendly staff. Breakfast was really good and the facilities were of a high standard. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider stopping here again on our next trip to the lakes
Friendly and helpful staff; and excellent breakfast and evening meal.
Staff good. Food in the restaurant was nice but a limited menu.
Second night we missed the hotel meal as you had to book before 6pm. Restaurant could do with being open until 9pm. And no cheese and biscuits on offer. Other than that it was nice
Spent four glorious days and nights in the lake district. Orrest Head(a short walk with fantastic views from the top) is situated near the railway station. We had a sail on the boat from Bowness-on-Windermere to Ambleside (red route). Ambleside village is about one mile from the pier. You can walk in or there is vintage bus that will take you for £2. But you must not miss the blueberry scones The Waterhead Coffee Shop near the pier. We had a day out at Grizedale forest. Lots of waking and lovely views from the top of Carron Crag. Back to the hotel we stayed in the same room as in April so we new what to expect. Comfy warm room, excellent breakfast and friendly service.
The hotel was ten minutes walk from Windemere. Our room was comfortable and the decorative arrangement of the towels was a nice touch. The staff were friendly and polite and breakfast was reasonable.
The floorboards above our room were a little creaky but given the age of the property, this is understandable.
