Breakfast was lovely
The bedroom was small along with very small en suite. The carpets could do with updating along with the decor including curtains, wallpaper etc.
The welcome was great and the host was very friendly. The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. The breakfast was superb. It's nice to stay somewhere with character.
A bit of a difficult step to negotiate on the twist in the staircase. The patterned carpet disguised it a bit so I tripped a couple of times.
bunk beds for younger children, communal living room with a lovely view of the bay
We liked the adventure of getting a car ferry across to the island and that the hotel was only 2 mins from the ferry and town centre. The owners were lovely and the food they made was the same. Would defiantly stay again.
We did not dislike anything.
We're a couple with a 9yr old. The room was lovely, at the top of the house with a huge bedroom and big bay window overlooking the sea. Toilet and good sized shower room was lovely as well.
I have arthritis so going up all those stairs was hard work.
Tasty breakfast. Problems were fixed.
We were welcomed with being told how much the key would cost if lost, not a good start. Room was twin and not double, we had requested double, even emailed. We weren't pleased and were told we could leave if we weren't happy! Had to produce a print off of the email to get this corrected as owner denied he had received email. Sunday morning there was only small window to have breakfast.
Owner - open and friendly, helpful. Breakfast fresh. Quiet despite being on a main road.
Wi-Fi a bit slow but worked.
Stairs as husband elderly
Nice location along the road from Rothesay centre. Good price / value
Limited breakfast (not self service) Rooms ok but no view, limited ventilation. Limited parking (on street available)
The Glendale has character and class. My kids, ages 17 & 19 loved the tastefully decoracted seaside view. It was very clean, with a personable and helpful proprietor. Lastly, breakfast was just delicious. We would highly recommend staying here.
There was nothing we didn't like!
view from room window interior style (furniture)
View from the room Breakfast Staff Cleanliness
Friendly, good access to town. Breakfast superb.
A little dated, but no real issue.
lovely host very friendly, comfy bed beautiful sea view could not praise the breakfast any higher, a little bit different scrambled egg and salmon, smoked fish and potato cakes with a poached egg on top, all absolutly delicious.
breakfast was between 8 and 9 perhaps could serve a little later.
I cannot fault the breakfasts. They were excellent and there was a good choice. The portions were ample and they also provided plenty of toast and tea or coffee.
My room was like a "garret" and left a lot to be desired. It was on the third floor of the house at the very end of the corridor and was extremely small. The so-called wardrobe was an "open cupboard-like" space with a rail holding 5 attached coathangers'; the bedlamp plug wasn't near the bed; the teamaking facilities were difficult to manoeuvre; the shower didn't work properly; the room was sub-standard and very damp..............The only thing of comfort was the bed! When I complained on the Sunday morning about the shower, Keir (I think that was his name) said he would look at it). On the Monday morning, it still wasn't working. After breakfast he said that he would move me to another room! Therefore, I collected all my luggage and was given the key to Room 4 on the second floor. This room was more in keeping with a Four Star accommodation, it was much larger and had proper on-suite facilities. During my stay in Glendale I didn't see Fiona (the wife) at all until I was leaving and paying my Bill. I was extremely disappointed with this booking at Glendale. I was hoping to enjoy the much-needed break and return home feeling well and rested. Not so! The Proprietors will have to "buck up" somewhat if they want to continue in the catering business. This is a special time for Scotland with the forthcoming Commonwealth Games when we will be hosting many, many athletes and visitors to our country. I, personally, will never return to this Guesthouse.
The breakfast was well prepared and presented and offered a good variety
the view from back rooms is dismal
Superb sea views from room. Excellent Scottish breakfast available. Owners not intrusive - able to come and go as you pleased. Excellent Wi-Fi signal strength. Close proximity to town centre. All-in-all a very welcoming guest house, will definitely use again when back in area.
No failings evident during our stay. All contact was first-class.
Excellent location. View from our bedroom was terrific. Can highly recommend the homemade smoked haddock potato cakes and poached egg for breakfast.
Owner very pleasant and helpful.Breakfasts were excellent with 5 different choices. This guest house is not the most luxurious, but if you want value for money in a clean and pleasant atmosphere then this is the place to go.
If your looking for luxury this isnt the place.
