The Gleneagles Guesthouse offers 4-star rooms with free high speed Wi-Fi and panoramic sea views. The guest house overlooks the Cliff Gardens, and is only a 5-minute walk from Southend Pier. The bright and spacious bedrooms each have a TV and an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer. All rooms feature tea/coffee facilities and some have wonderful sea views. Guests can enjoy a hearty full English breakfast with produce from local butchers and bakers, while lighter options are also available. In season there is a coffee shop which serves light lunches and indulgent cakes from a large garden terrace overlooking the sea. Gleneagles Guest House is a Grade II listed building within Southend’s tranquil conservation area and until 2001 it used to be a hotel. Limited free parking is available on site, with free street parking 200 metres away. The High Street, seafront and Adventure Island are just a 5-minute walk away. The staff were great and the cream tea was to die for ;-) Thought the bed was quite hard ;-( The breakfast could of been lot better to be honest, slimy egg, about 10 beans, sausages ...;-( But everybody likes thinks different.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were able to suggest places to eat and called a taxi on my behalf. they were understanding of my trip and were accommodating regarding needs and dietary requirements or preferences. I can't fault the service. :)

Friendly,pleasant new owners. Decore internally was being upgraded / changed for the better. Really nice cooked breakfast. Pleasant location - facing the sea & not far from shops, restaurant etc. Not expensive. Overall ? Great nothing

Thoroughly enjoyed the friendly homely atmosphere and the help given when requested. I would hope to visit again. Room was extremely warm and I was unable to switch off the heating or open the window.

This guesthouse offers superb value for money, nothing was too much trouble for the very warm and welcoming owner who made you feel as a true guest and not just a room number. Lovely room, very comfortable bed. Great tasty breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. Fab location just minutes from sea front and shopping area. Highly recommended!

A good location close to Southend town centre and the seafront. Street parking is available close by. The room was compact but well laid out. Shower and toilet facilities were very clean. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. There was nothing I didn't like! Very good for a small hotel.

The proprietors were friendly and helpful. The decor was beautiful The beds were very comfortable The breakfast was fantastic The toilet in one of the single ensuite rooms I stayed in did not have a door. Also, due to the toilets proximity to the window in the room, it was necessary to close the curtains in order to use the facility during daylight hours as the room was overlooked.

The breakfast was good. Access to free wi-fi. Room was very small, bathroom was tiny and had no door. The room was freezing at night.

Clean and functional Too many tight stairs, the room was far too small, the bed and all the furniture had to be squeezed into a very small space and made the whole experience feel cramped. The plumbing is terrible, the shower only worked if you removed the shower head and replaced it, the toilet took forever to refill and the sink is very dated. Overall the room should have been a single and for a newly refurbed guest house should have spent more money on the plumbing instead of investing in a rather lush tea room.
