Food was lovely, great breakfast! Staff helpful and friendly.
The room was a bit cold
Location, staff very helpful
Swimming pool chilly
The food was good but a bit over priced.over priced and not dog friendly.
Would of not stayed there if we were told that the swimming pool was so cold, my 6 year old couldn't use it because it was really so cold. Also because i had a small dog my room wasn't up to my standard.Nothing happen at new year so was in bed for nine pm.
The whole reason for going to this hotel was to celebrate the New Year. Unfortunately the hotel did not have onr single item of entertainment to celebrate the New Year. This was disappointing.
Quiet location set in beautiful surroundings. Swim, sauna, relaxing in the bar with a meal - great way to start the new year. Good walking area straight from hotel after good hearty breakfast.
Room was a little too warm, but was able to turn radiator down!
Quick and efficient check in.Friendly staff on arrival.Lake view room was excellent and comfortable.evening meal in the bar was out standing, fresh vegetables and steak cooked perfectly.Breakfast was just right to set you up for a days walking.definately return in the future.
No negatives that I can think of.
Great location, good bar (ratchers). Plenty of ample free parking. Breakfast good. Helpful and friendly staff
The pool was very cold (too cold for our toddler). The restaurant for evening meals aims more towards fine dining but doesn't quite get there. Bar does more usual pub fare so you have an option. Quite a lot of steps internally even on ground floor so for those with push chairs beware (although being in the lakes you accept there isn't much flat land !). The bed we had was a little soft and the pillows a little hard.
the location was superb, facilities were great, a good base close to everything.
choices of breakfast good, quantity not so good
breakfast was great, lots of different lounges to sit around in and great to have a suana on site.
Tepid shower water...
Location Décor and Christmas decorations Good food - particularly breakfast Real log fire in public bar
Beds too hard
Breakfast was very good and the views over the lake are excellent
Booked at standard room for £99 (reduced from £140) for one night. The first room was awful, stains on the chairs. The room looked like something from the 1970's. I asked to see another room, which wasnt much better and had no heating on. We had travelled 150 miles so needed to freshen up and shower but as the room was near freezing and was musty smelling, we refused this room. I asked if there was a better room but was told I had to pay more. I ended up paying £180 for a room for the night as staying in the standard room or driving home wasnt an option. Ruined my stay!
Smell of the room atrocious Sunday roast/decor at ratchers (basement pub)
All of it. We were really spoilt
The Christmas dinner was a bit ' Tesco' like.
We had a problem with out first room but it got dealt with straight away and we were moved into a much nicer room !
location good breakfasts friendly staff
Location & friendly staff.
Poor breakfast on the first of three mornings. Bacon over done on each occasion.
Warmth and cosines. Helpfull and friendly staff
Superior room? Not superior. Very small with a distinct lack of bathroom toiletries. What was there was inaccessible from the bath and shower. The first evening meal we had was appalling (service and quality of meal for both of us). We were offered a complementary meal the next evening. That was superb. Good swimming pool but far too cold!!!
Great hotel, great location , good food.
Some very young, not good english speaking staff which lead to missunderstanding.
Friendly staff Good breakfast Really nice pizzas
Pool is slightly chilly Double bed was actually two singles pushed together
Lovely Food Ace Sauna Fantastic Scenic Location
Pool was a tad cool Leaving
Stayed here many times over the years good non commercial location.
The rooms are now looking shabby,in need of deep cleaning carpets stained and worn out arm chairs in the room heavily stained and to be fair disgusting.Does not reflect the higher end cost of staying here anymore. The valence around the bed was dirty and stained the throw on the bed not very clean etc. In general this has become an expensive shabby hotel. We cut our stay short and moved to a different hotel.
Room size was good with good powerful shower over bath, a welcome soak after a long walk. Cafe serves delicious hot chocolate!
Pity the pool wasn't open on Friday when we arrived at 5pm, and despite asking a receptionist several times to advise if and when it would be open, thus didn't happen and we later found it had been available Saturday. Food was adequate, but despite advising my duck was over cooked, there was no apology or recompense for a half eaten meal.
Right on the Lake with good size room, warm and clean, used indoor pool which was good size...plenty other leisure facilities inc table tennis and pool..also hotel has its own pub with good food and sky sports. Very good meal in hotel restaurant
As a personal preference would like more upbeat music or radio rather than classical music..in particular at breakfast....but that is personal taste..
Access to stunning scenery Good value accommodation & ,meals Having Kilners coffee shop Good sleep & comfort off season
