Bed was comfortable, rooms clean. Good breakfast and were helpful. Location absolutely beautiful and handy with parking.

Poor wifi, continued to loose connection Could have done with an ironing board with the iron as we were there for a wedding so had wedding attire to iron. This was not easy with no ironing board! Although the rooms are clean, they are quite dated in decor and I expected more for the money we had paid.

Ideally placed for local walks and the Ulswater Steamers. Friendly and curtious staff. High standard of cleanliness of rooms. Last but by no means least the high quality of the meals in the Garden Room and excellent service by the staff.

    Nothing to fault.

Comfortable Room and good food. Not too far to travel for Seniors!

Did not like to be asked for a Debit/Credit card on arrival. Booking had already been paid for. The intention was to pay cash for any extras incurred. Appreciate this is the modern way - but not for most 'Seniors'

    Excellent location

? runken crowd waking us up at 1.35 am yelling staggering into walls. They need to have a night porter and make it quite clear drunkenness is not tolerated. Paid 177 pounds per night couldnt get back to sleep for hours and we had a long drive the next day. The problem was sorted out but it should have been monitored in first place.

It was a typical lakeland hotel, comfortable, good food and great views even when raining

No mobile signal save for vodaphone. This is not suitable for business users

Fabulous environment within Lake District, beautiful outlook. Great range of spaces within hotel, could suit a wide range of interests. Same goes for eating spaces - lovely rowdy bar, cafe, more formal dining space, outside space. Activities on-site as well as nearby in the town, and in the surrounding countryside. Room well renovated, clean and very comfortable. Parking on site.

Lots of stairs, which cannot be avoided altogether, so not good disabled access. Wi-fi good, but had to re-login every time.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful food. High quality hotel without the stuffiness. The rooms had high quality furnishings and looked great. Felt very relaxed. Enjoyed the pool and sauna. Would def stay here again and look forward to it.

Other visitors ridiculous poor reviews. No reflection on the hotel at all.

    The whole experience was delightful.

Greasy fried bread on the Helvellyn challenge breakfast. This did not however detract from a great meal.

I loved the remoteness of the hotel, but the facilities considering that were as good as a city centre hotel! I will be booking again. I loved the pub in the basement, great atmosphere, great staff and great value for money. The views from the hotel were breath-taking!

The only downside, and it's only a tiny one, was the pool was a little cool for my liking, but it was excellently clean and could do with a proper hot jacuzzi!

I thought that the young staff could have had better training. They tried very hard but lacked the basic training.

Although breakfast was good the courses came a little too quick, customers, including myself hadn't finished first course before being brought main breakfast. Then this was left on the table getting cold while rushing to finish starters.

Helpful and polite staff. Location very good, Facilities very good

We booked, indicating that one of us was in a wheelchair. But there is no ramp into the hotel back or front. The lift only just fits a very small chair. Bathroom too small to allow wheelchair access to the loo.

This hotel will suit those who wish to escape to the country and who enjoy walking and exploring Ullswater. A beautiful location and an excellent restaurant with a very friendly and pleasant, helpful staff.

The Bar menu could have been a bit more exciting.

First time I've ever been told I'd have to get changed for a Wedding in a toilet cubicle!! Despite requesting early access to my room OR access for 10 minutes to a room where I could change for a wedding I was going to next door. I was told I couldn't get access to any room until 2pm, the wedding was at 1pm and the only place they suggested was the general toilet cubicle. No compromise or care or concern, very difficult after a long journey and a suitcase and full change prior to a wedding reception to negotiate! £152 per night, creaking floorboards and noisy pipe work - never again!!
