We had a problem with out first room but it got dealt with straight away and we were moved into a much nicer room !
location good breakfasts friendly staff
Location & friendly staff.
Poor breakfast on the first of three mornings. Bacon over done on each occasion.
Warmth and cosines. Helpfull and friendly staff
Superior room? Not superior. Very small with a distinct lack of bathroom toiletries. What was there was inaccessible from the bath and shower. The first evening meal we had was appalling (service and quality of meal for both of us). We were offered a complementary meal the next evening. That was superb. Good swimming pool but far too cold!!!
Great hotel, great location , good food.
Some very young, not good english speaking staff which lead to missunderstanding.
Friendly staff Good breakfast Really nice pizzas
Pool is slightly chilly Double bed was actually two singles pushed together
Lovely Food Ace Sauna Fantastic Scenic Location
Pool was a tad cool Leaving
Stayed here many times over the years good non commercial location.
The rooms are now looking shabby,in need of deep cleaning carpets stained and worn out arm chairs in the room heavily stained and to be fair disgusting.Does not reflect the higher end cost of staying here anymore. The valence around the bed was dirty and stained the throw on the bed not very clean etc. In general this has become an expensive shabby hotel. We cut our stay short and moved to a different hotel.
Room size was good with good powerful shower over bath, a welcome soak after a long walk. Cafe serves delicious hot chocolate!
Pity the pool wasn't open on Friday when we arrived at 5pm, and despite asking a receptionist several times to advise if and when it would be open, thus didn't happen and we later found it had been available Saturday. Food was adequate, but despite advising my duck was over cooked, there was no apology or recompense for a half eaten meal.
Right on the Lake with good size room, warm and clean, used indoor pool which was good size...plenty other leisure facilities inc table tennis and pool..also hotel has its own pub with good food and sky sports. Very good meal in hotel restaurant
As a personal preference would like more upbeat music or radio rather than classical music..in particular at breakfast....but that is personal taste..
Access to stunning scenery Good value accommodation & ,meals Having Kilners coffee shop Good sleep & comfort off season
Excellent staff, especially the cleaners and waiting on lads and lasses who truly work hard
The size of the room initially allocated, could barely move around the beds - but thank you for moving us to a room we really enjoyed our stay in.
I thought it was a bit pricey for the basic room
Location and pool facility plus good breakfast.
Noisy room doors of late comers and early risers. Doors need modification.
Staff were very unhelpful and need to be trained in customer service. Hotel dirty and dusty. Massively overpriced and should be rated as a 1 star. Stay in the inn on the lake hotel instead.
Staff were very helpful, hotel was clean with a great location.
Telephone in room didn't work. They offered a new room but the view was poor so we stayed put. Swimming pool was far too cold, and as jacuzzi is in the pool this was also too cold. Could only stay for 30 minutes as my daughter's lips were turning blue. Talked to staff who said they would turn it up but it was too cold all weekend. We weren't the only ones to complain. Wouldn't stay again because of this.
Location, staff and the beer!
Expensive for what it was and wifi was bad. Bad value for money really
Wifi and price and beds. Two singles pushed together is not a comfortable double bed
John in the restaurant was very helpful.
Food in restaurant good breakfast lovely first day but second terrible sausage cooked in fryer and rewarmed beans generator running all night outside window did not like the idea of dogs being allowed in bar were food was to be eaten
Room was old but comfy nice bathroom glad booked a superior room
A comfortable hotel, in an excellent location within easy walking distance of the Ullswater steamer. Good, powerful showers.
A very noisy fan in the bathroom, bedroom and wardrobe doors needed a bit 'sticky'
Great location for walking up Helvellyn, first rate accommodation, good food, friendly and helpful staff. Good parking and hotel facilities.
Wonderful views, friendliness of staff, general environment. My room was superb.
Food could be better, but it was a very busy w/end with the triathlon.
Stayedd for 3 nights and the room wasn't vacuumed at all
Loved the Location. We had a superior Double room the views of Ullswater and the surrounding fells were absolutely stunning. The proximity to the Lake and the steamers was excellent. Very quiet and peaceful. Facilities in the Hotel were good. coffee shop, restaurant, pub with outside seating area next to a stream. Swimming pool, we didnt have chance to use it but probably would have if we had stayed a little longer than 2 nights. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Breakfast on both mornings was very good.
We were disappointed with the quality of the food in the restaurant and also in the pub. I orderd lamb with a red wine jus but it was very bland and just looked and tasted like gravy. The lamb was tough and fatty. My husband ordered chips the quality was poor! they were greasy and seemed like frozen chips cooked in old oil. The pizzas were very good in the pub but we definately felt the food was overpriced and not the standard we would have expected from a restaurant in such a lovely Hotel. We also felt that the Hotel could be improved by updating the decor in the pub downstairs with better and more comfortable seating.
