Score from 104 reviews Fabulous
The room size was great, we had plenty of room and also a good sized bathroom. The location was good and the few staff I did encounter were very nice and helpful.
The bed was probably one of the worst I've ever tried to sleep in, in a hotel. The carpet was obviously quite old and there were a few long black hairs on the bedding. Neither of us have long black hair.
Lovely cheerful staff who were interested in making sure we had a good time. Excellent value for money.A real old fashioned sort of place with a cosy, welcoming feel to it.
My room was next to the chimney from the kitchens so it was quite noisy. They did offer to change my room for me though.
Hotel needs modernising, its like walking into the 1950s & 60s
Well located for my needs. Comfy bed, plenty of tea n coffee n milk in the room. The bed was clean and comfy.
The decor is very run down and dated. The alleged free Wii fi wasn't working, the net curtain in the bedroom had a big hole in it. The floor boards in the corridor creacked when walked on.
3-course dinner, breakfast was nice.
Close to venue we were visiting
Needs a lot of t.l.c to bring it up to date
Price - very reasonable. Value for money.
Décor a little tired but clean and comfortable so good value overall.
The setting and hotel was all good.(I don't like the term excellent)
The price. Hotel dated but for the price you can't complain. Breakfast included.
Staff very pleasant and helpful, interesting building, good location.
No unpressurised beer in the bar, but this is understandable for a low turnover.
It was a perfect location in town. Adorable hotel. Beds weren't comfortable- bathrooms need serious updating, other than that not bad hotel.
Nice Old Building
Needs Some TLC
Breakfast was ok for price
Hotel needs decorating bed are plastic, carpet in bathroom is always going to be a problem
Location in the town
Hotel needs a makeover
I like the History behind the place
Great nights sleep, great shower, lovely staff
Sadly in need of a facelift
Polite, friendly staff. Good food. Good shower in room with plenty of hot water
The wifi kept dropping out but the staff were always willing to reboot the modem so this wasnt to much of a problem
the comfort of the bed
the fact you could not smoke in the room all hotels should have a corridor with smoking rooms
Well priced, staff very helpful
Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Comfy beds. Central location
Hotel is a bit dated - but full of character
We requested a late check in ( midnight) and an early breakfast at 7:30 . We received a warm welcome and swift check in . The room was dated but clean. The break fast had a choice of cerials and fruit with sausage, egg, beans , bacon and hash browns. All in all the place is dated but the price u pay its a bargain ,very friendly and helpful would stop again if in the area.
Noisey outside with late night drinkers ( not so much the hotels responsibility)
ideal one night stopover staff were pleasant and helpful good nights sleep and on the road next morning to continue our journey
needs updating badly but clean and good shower plenty of towels and comfy beds just the thing for one night stopover
Great location for course. Excellent breakfasts
Music below room in the evening
Value for money and convenient for the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth
We didn't enjoy our stay there. On plus side: 1. good location 2. the exterior is very nice 3. good value (we paid £50 for a family of 3, not including breakfast) 4. bedlinen was clean (although we would prefer to have a proper duvet cover, not just a set of sheets and a blanket)
However, negatives outweigh positives for us: 1. Most important thing: hotel was dirty! The rooms were not cleaned perfectly, dust everywhere (even on tea/coffee equipment!), bird feathers on the floor. 2. I'm not sure if they changed the towels after previous guests. 3. It seems that our room was last decorated in 70s. Old-fashioned furniture which has seen (a lot of) better days, wallpaper peeling off the walls, water stains on walls and ceiling. 4. Rooms not looked after: in our room toilet roll holder was broken, light in bathroom was not working. 5. No hair dryer, no toiletries (only soap was provided). 6. no dedicated parking Overall, it's ok if you need to stay somewhere for one night and on a tight budget and don't expect comfort or enjoyment. It would be a good idea to bring some antibacterial wipes with you - just in case.
