Glen Usk Hotel  

Nice staff. Early breakfast laid on for us. Very good price. Clean & comfortable. Slightly dated, but would definitely stay again.

No hairdryer. No shower soap / shampoo.

The staff were friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. I was made to feel very welcome and given a superb room, an upgrade from my original booking of a single room to a double. Breakfasts were as expected, offering both a cereal/fruits course and the "fresh-cooked" offering was exactly that: fresh (and delicious). The room was clean, well stocked and maintained. Housekeeping was efficient: my room was made up before I returned from breakfast each day! The facilities - bath/shower, towels, TV, tea-making - were all to an excellent standard and what I expected and required. The location of the hotel within the town was excellent, and the town itself is a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. All in all, a very pleasant stay in a great hotel.

The wi-fi signal should be strengthened, if possible, so it is accessible from areas beyond the lobby.

Clean, tidy and affordable. Great staff......a budget accomodation that is great for a couple of nights stay in which to explore the surrounding beautiful countryside.

rooms are very dated, with basic TV etc, and rather small.

a perfect hotel for a visit to the Hay literary festival - clkose to Elan reservoirs which are well worth a visit. value for moeny and nicely run.

breakfast was not as good as it could easily be - the choice of food items limited fro vegetarians - coffee undrinkable. a little work could make the whole place a little better - redesign the dining room as well.

My stay was a step back into the days where you left your shoes outside your bedroom door to be cleaned overnight. The food and service was outstanding. The staff were delightful.I would stay again.

Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Furnishing, though much of it is dated, is of good quality so perfectly usable. Decent breakfast. Good pressure and temperature on shower. Price made it very good value for money. And on a sunny day, the south facing veranda is the perfect spot to sit and imagine the heyday as a Victorian spa resort town. Or just read, talk.

Parking is OK on weekends, but seemed like everything around was only 1 hour during weekdays. We could hear a baby crying from a room down the hallway, so I can imagine that noisy neighbours could be a problem. Sheet-and-blanket envelope is not my preference, but perfectly true to the traditional atmosphere of the hotel.

We booked 3 single rooms for a business trip. The decor is a little dated but that really doesn't matter. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean and well equipped with what you would need. The only suggestion I would make is to have a socket next to the beds and maybe a free view box with the TV. Other than that 10/10. The staff were very friendly and down to earth. A lovely environment, clean , comfortable and friendly. We will be back.

The staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean and the food was good. The entertainment was very good. We will use the hotel when we are in the area again

The only downside was that the hotel could do with a bit of a spruce up, but otherwise it was fine

The staff were really friendly and helpful. I was travelling on my own with a young baby and they went out of their way to accommodate me.

The bathroom was a little worn, but it was nice a clean.

We loved everything about this hotel- the price was unbelievable- the kind lady at the desk upgraded our single room to a triple and only charged us for a double- they were a friendly, informative staff- that knew the area and knew just how to treat there visitors- the hotel itself was fantastic- clean with old school touches - just brilliant- great sized rooms and the location was perfect too- we absolutely loved the Glen Usk and would recommend staying there to anyone. Thanks again for making our stay so great ;-)

Always a nice welcome and although most of the Victorian hotel is in need of refurbishment (which is in hand) the rooms are always clean and warm. This will be a lovely hotel again once more work has been completed. I have stayed before and will again.

The reception and restaurant staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accomodate dietary requirements. My friend and I really loved the welcoming aspect of the hotel and although the decor was a little faded, the rooms were very comfortable. I would definitely go there again and recommend it to friends looking for a budget getaway in mid Wales. Lovely, lovely people working at the hotel.

we came for a vintage car rally and found the hotel and the parking convenient, the breakfast good and the room good enough.

there was nothing we did not like about our stay.

Location, in the centre of the town. A very comfortable & friendley Hotel.

Meals were set up for large groups, in a big room, too impersonal.

Great value for a grand hotel which may need a bit of tlc but we stayed in a large room with all the facilities you would expect. The place is obviously cared for and clean with new curtains and it was easy to ignore slightly peeling wall paper.

we stayed at the front of the hotel and the road noise and street lighting was a little intrusive, but I still slept well.

ROOM 210 Clean bed leanen. Good breakfast. Good location.

I will never stay there again. It was like going back in time. Rooms are so dated, pilling wallpaper, oldfashion, walls not soundproof, squicky floor, dirty and stained carpets...
