We stayed at the Glenwood as a overnighter for sailing from Dover the next day - very good location . We found the hotel to be a little tired in some areas. The beds though were very clean and the room although small was also clean and functional for our purposes. The manager and his wife were extremely nice and the Irish lady ( sorry didnt get her name ) was a tonic! We didnt sample a dinner at the hotel but the sandwiches were very nice indeed. All in all as an overnighter it was fine. Not exactly pointed at the Glenwood itself, but there wasn't a local pub for an outside drink that we would have gone in- but if you're there, go and say hello to the folks in the Druids Social Club in Percy Street 1 mins walk away, the kindest people you will ever meet.

Basic hotel, the room was clean and bright. Not much of a view from our room. The staff were brilliant very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much. The food was good, cooked well and plenty of it. We had a good time ,the evening entertainment was okay and nice to have a bar where you could sit and relax if you wanted to. We stayed an extra night making 3 nights in all. The area was a bit run down, the houses need renervating but you did not feel threatened at all. If in Margate I would definately stay at the Glenwood Hotel again.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cooked food we ordered was cooked to the way we asked. The place was spotless and the socialising areas looked spacious and comfortable. The facilities in the bedroom were modest and worked.

Convenient location close to seafront. Very quiet room. Friendly, helpful staff. Unpretentious. Plain but tasty cooked breakfast. Old- fashioned with basic facilities, clean and comfortable. Comfortable bed and pillows. Not always able to access building immediately if front door locked and single staff on duty unavailable to open door. No fresh coffee - instant only at breakfast!

Staff very friendly - room a bit basic but clean, and excellent breakfast - they would cook what you wanted to order, Was a bit worried when I first arrived, as it's in a bit of a run down area / the hotel is a bit of a maze, but actually, the hotel itself is fine, and the friendliness of the staff, great breakfast and overall relaxed atmosphere made up for that.

A great place for the children to play hide & seek. Louge area spacious. Does not reflect the pictures on the internet. Was expecting a modern hotel - with modern mod cons. The bedrooms need updating ie, showers / beds and the view outside my room was a shabby roof top with broken unused toilet and hand basin ( not nice). There was some confusion about having evening meals ( even though I specified this on the booking form) & called the hotel directly and was told meals not a problem. There was 1 lady serving meals and ours was a group of 8 so seemed a bit of a drawn out process. But she was very accomodating. No evidence of drinks bar and no entertainment. We were due to stay for the week but stayed for 2 days.

Staff very friendly and helpful and generally a good atmosphere. Food was good. Good value for money. The decor of the rooms in need of a bit of refurbishment. The headboards were grubby and the doors rather tatty. I had a broken kettle and light.

The glenwood is good value for money, it is clean and the staff are great. It's not fancy and a bit basic but very clean - no complaints at all We have stayed at the glenwood 3 times and on the third Time the bed was a bit uncomfortable - you could feel the springs, so perhaps a few of the beds need replacing?

Hotel is cheap, and you get what you pay for. Would not go to Margate again. The place is depressing and run down. The area around the Glenwood is almost third world.
