Boasting an idyllic setting at the edge of both the Gower peninsula and central Swansea, this welcoming bed and breakfast enjoys spectacular views of the sea and nearby Mumbles and its lighthouse.
Score from 115 reviews Good
Shower was good!
General decor and cleanliness needs time and effort to clean it up and lots of fresh paint breakfast adequate but amateurish
Near the Sea
Place stank, as did the two gentlemen running the Guest House. No parking after 8 am.
The owner is very friendly and cook very nice breakfast. I had a brilliant sea view room, which i didn't expect, and the location was easily accessible. The shower is very powerful with consistent supply of hot water.Definitely a good try!
the location just next to the beach was fantastic and the staff has been very polite and helpful!
Nice Quiet Clean Will Definatly Stay here again It was within my Budget Too Thankyou
room with shower and toilet that good for people like to be private
Nothing there I don't like.
Location, Sea View room beautiful.
Mattresses were not comfortable
Excellent location for all amenities and services. The staff were always polite and helpful.
Across the street was the beach.
The building was run down. The window in the room was dirty, the shower had mold. The sink had no hot water because the knob was broken and according to the proprietor had been for some time with no intention of repairing it. The room was incredibly small, the bed was almost in the shower. No fan to cool the room and could not open the window because of the noise of the cars all night.
Nothing. I liked leaving the next day.
The stench hits you when you walk in--days old grease and smothered cigarette smoke. I could literally feel my face breaking out from the grease hanging in the air and absorbed by the carpet and hangings around it. True this is overlooking the beach, but, the picture on the Bookings.com website shows the hotel to the left of it--not actually the place we stayed. Bookings.com really should do more research on the properties it manages on its website. We were given a room at the top of the house--on the hottest day. Prior to arriving, it may have been nice of the proprietor to open a window or place fans about the room. That was probably too much to ask. We melted. There was an odd contraption located outside our bedroom door--a cross between a homemade sewage/water system and plastic containers. The music from this oddly placed doohickey serenaded up throughout the night. We could have had less noise, but that would've prohibited us from sleeping with our room's door open (who cared if the guy next door saw might bright red panties?). Three women---sleeping with the door open in a seedy motel? You got it. My personal safety was compromised with the need to not melt. When I asked for a fan, I believe crickets chirped. Oh...the water system. It really didn't help the lack of drainage in the shower. We had standing water overnight and in the morning. I'm very sure that room wasn't meant to have a shower or a water system. The breakfast was. The man who made the breakfast did not look happy to be up that "early". We left. Now we are forever bonded by our combined experience of staying in Swansea's worst.
The view from the "dirty" window. The kettle for coffee-tea.
The small room was hot and noisy. The bed linen was smelly. There was smell of smoke in the hall. When we arrived in the breakfast hall, only two tables were occupied but beans, juice and milk were almost finished and the three of us did not get enough. Although requested, the owner only brought a small tupperware with beans 15 minutes later and he didn't add milk or juice. The 8 people who arrived after us did not get a "proper" full English breakfast.
Location good friendly staff good breakfast
No lifts shared bathroom but we new that when we booked
Price Location Breakfast
A bit noisy at night in room overlooking beach ( and road outside ).
Position on seafront.
Breakfast.Parking only until 8am then the restrictions apply.
We had a room which faced the beach. Breakfast was included and good.
No internet in the rooms.
Friendly owner, cheap price, good home cooked breakfast
Electrical problems, felt old and worn down, bar was closed / unstocked
The owner is nice and very helpful.
The accommodation is just so shabby and outdated and cramped.
Good value and a bit quirky
Premises run down
Breakfast and leaving it
Just about everything, WiFi was a joke, you either sat on the bottom of the stairs or sat in the dining room, which was normally closed. The whole place needs a good scrub throughout, including the banisters, which were sticky to the touch.
Room 9: no electric shaver point, no light above mirror above sink, no light switch near bed head, old TV with poor picture.
The price was cheap for Swansea but not particularly good value. You'd be better off paying a bit more for something more upmarket
The cheap price attracts the bottom end of the social and economic spectrum. The hotel was full of them, so consequently staying on a Saturday night, from 3:00 am onwards the room next to me had a door slamming contest and a domestic shouting match. Breakfast was as bad (not the food which didn't stay for) having to watch tattoo covered plebs at a trough. If you're out to impress DO NOT stay here!
A Scruffy and Shabby run down hotel, towels were stained and marked,T.V had to be veiwed Via Digie box which didnt work properly.Doors and furniture were beaten up and dirty, breakfast saw the bread heaped on a table no cover or tongs.
This is very poor standard accommodation and should not be called a hotel.
Sea view, good breakfast, close to centre
Television to small in this day and age very hard to read txt.
Clean bedding, Security code entry system, location to the town.
The owner aka chef, cleaner and barman needs assistance during breakfast. He takes individual orders, goes to the kitchen and 20 minutes later brings out the breakfast. If there are people turning up whilst he is cooking, they just sit on tables with other peoples empty dirty plates on them for this time. Not good. He could do with a waitress to help him. Owner, chef, cleaner seemed like a genuine chap, nice guy but personal hygiene could do with immediate attention. The hotel is 1960s throw back, hasn't had a coat of paint since then, the shower in my room was impossible to use and had an electric cable fed into the shower unit exposed to water!!! Still for the amount paid, was a reasonable stay if you are just looking for a bed for the night. All in all a funny experience - fawlty towers.
