Review score
Score from 18 reviews
The Globe Hotel is a 19th century coaching inn with 18 en-suite bedrooms, a public bar and a restaurant. The hotel is privately owned and operated and its location and informality are two excellent reasons to choose us.
The hotel is independently owned and operated in a personal family manner. This coupled with our modest charges and extremely friendly service make the Globe Hotel an absolute must when staying in the Northampton area. Please be aware that the hotel has no lift. Nothing! The aa need to re look at the 2 stars they gave it. Everything, we looked at 3 rooms before we were barely happy to stay in one. The place was dusty and dirty, noisy, and desperately in need of refurbishment. A bit of brasso would have gone a long way. Doors obviously been kicked open, damp cloth may have helped. The place was awful, we only stayed because the man said he would have to charge us commission. There was a towel behind the sink to pick up leaks, the place was dusty and dirty. Bathroom door needed washing, neither my husband nor I had a shower in the morning, best not!!!!! Full english breakfast was not the best.

Good breakfast and friendly staff It is the most run down hotel I have ever stayed in. Internally and externally. No wardrobes, no netcurtains, mattresses that did not fit the beds, ripped curtains, drawers that did not stay closed without the aid of a piece of cardboard, sinks that would not drain the water away and being told to close the shower door as otherwise the people in the bar would also receive a shower. For £70-00, I expected a LOT more. Never again.

Cheap and convenient for a45. The bedding was clean. Breakfast was good. In need of thorough cleaning and lot of money required for a complete refurb. Interior is dated and fraying at rather more than the edges.

It is unpretentious but everything necessary was there. Good shower, comfortable bed, very courteous and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent and we were able to get a drink in the bar on our return late at night. Beautiful views of hte countryside from the dining room windows. Although on a main road, there was very little traffic overnight. It's a bit tired, but I am sure that if the rooms are upgraded, the price will double as it is very well located. We only stayed one night (while taking part in a bridge competition in Daventry). Maybe for a longer stay I would want something a bit more glamorous.

The walls & ceiling had grey sooty marks, the radiator was hanging off the wall and the carpet was worn and stained. There was a leak from the bathroom sink that made the grout in between the floor tiles wet. There was an overpowering fat/frying smell in the room that did not go even when the window was open. The overall decoration in the hotel was poor and was badly in need of redecoration. I was only booked for 1 night and would not have stayed a second night.

The owners are very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are wonderful. The hotel is in prime location for many areas... The hotel itself could do with some refurbishment. It looks run down, however this hotel has so much potential

The food was excellent.Very clean in the bar and restaurant.Staff pleasant. The room was basic but fairly clean,it also smelt a little. The double bed was two single together but one half had a matress which was'nt much good.We did'nt appreciate the Wheatsheaf pub across the road playing load music until 01:45 in the morning. That made our stay quite miserable as we were on the main road.

Price was very good, breakfast was as good as many more expensive hotels that I have stayed at. Ample parking. Hotel was very run down both inside and out, so much so that I thought it was derilict when I arrived, with no other vehicles in the car park and and an empty bar, despite the hotel being in a village and on the crossroads of two main A roads. Faded sign ouside advertised 'real ale', but the only one available was from a barrel out the back somewhere, did not taste good and was overpriced. Went elsewhere.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Although I'm sure nobody smokes in the room, there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke coming from the carpets. The bed linen was fresh and clean though.
