Set in the centre of Guildford, Mandolay is an impressive hotel open 24 hours a day and offering free Wi-Fi throughout, a bar, a restaurant and limited free car parking.
Score from 975 reviews Very good
Set in 9 acres of parkland with superb leisure spa facilities, the hotel is well placed for Guildford, Woking and the M25. There is free Wi-Fi in the lounge/bar area and free parking on site.

Nice decor of the hall/dining room. It looks like a safe area in general. Being too late for the check-in, I received a call from the owner to be instructed on how to access the hotel.
No continental breakfast available, only cooked English breakfast - I liked it thought it's not possible not to have an alternative! Front parking is only for 4 cars and the access to rear parking area is too tight for medium-big sized cars. The reception is unmanned all the time. In my opinion this hotel is a bit overpriced for the service offered.
The recomended Pub for evening meal was terrible.. why would you send anyone there?
It ticked all the boxes for me
Comfortable room freeview TV Power shower. Not too noisy.
The breakfast while OK was nothing to shout about and grub clearly 'kept warm' so if not at 7am sitting baked to death nearly by 8. Also very limited choices.
awkward for parking
A very lovely warm room, beautifully furnished, Sanderson duvet covers and an incredibly comfortable bed! I had an amazing nights sleep.
There was only a skeleton staff, both of whom did their best but their English was minimal. There was no real welcome and I only saw these two men during my stay. The breakfast was ok but only orange juice, cereals in a screw topped jar , which wasn't mentioned and a full Emglish breakfast. There was no continental breakfast or fruit or yogurt on offer. It would have be nice to have seen a concise breakfast menu handed out rather than try to order from a man with little English. The service wasn't good and the breakfast was ok but it would have been nice to have had more choice.
The hotel is a 5 min drive from the train station which was great. I had a Single Room with Shared Facilities. The room was very clean was extremely small and I mean tiny! But still you had all the things you needed.
None of the staff spoke good English so was hard to order breakfast. A guy ordered etc sausage on his Full English and ended up with just 3 sausages on his plate nothing else. So I recommend for ease just say YES to a Full English
It is what it is. Reasonably cheap, reasonably good standard accommodation. Recommended if have a busy day and just want somewhere to rest your weary head. Staff friendly and breakfast reasonable but not much variety
Route to parking at the back of the hotel is very narrow, if you have a big wide car you need to be very careful. TV signal kept cutting out for short period of time
Room was airy, which I liked, and a comfortable bed. Tasty breakfast. Shared washroom and shower was easily accessible.
Heat was turned on at inconsistent times - left off all the entire once and then turned on at night for some reason when it wasn't too cold, and then not turned on at all on the coldest night (during a wind storm).
Excellent bed and breakfast facilities, staff were pleasant. good location and excellent value for money. Have stayed here before. Will stay again.
Very smiley helpful staff. Quiet and clean and good value.
Clean and smartly furnished. Freedom to come and go. Parking was sufficient. Breakfast served quickly and well cooked. Friendly service.
It was a rather small room - nowhere to open our case. Suitable for a travelling person for an overnight stop but not for a stay in Godalming. No choice re breakfast offered. No evening meal available and no info where to eat nearby.
Good value if you’re less than 5ft5 [165cm] tall, or more than 5ft5 with a lively sense of humour. The following 200 words are by far the most I've ever written about a hotel. Small, pleasant, room, adequately furnished [no easy chair or drawer unit]. Comfortable bed with warm, lightweight, duvet. Nice touches – small bottles of water and a small bottle of red wine. Bathroom compact, with good lighting. Powerful shower.
Bedroom lighting eccentric – low hanging centre light, 5ft5 [165cm] from floor, has dingle-dangle shade with sharp metal edges. Bedside light has black, lightproof, shade [honestly !]. Virtually no soundproofing – neighbours’ snores, conversations and television programmes very intrusive. Bathroom heated towel rail, very close to wc, permanently switched off as it would scorch unwary knees. The top of the large bathroom mirror is only 5ft5 from the floor - too low to allow shaving without stooping. Shaving option is bedroom mirror above desk, with adjacent shaver point, but the lighting is poor. Shower temperature susceptible to sudden variations as hot supply diverts to adjacent rooms. No toilet roll holder – the switched-off towel rail occupies all available space. Bathroom extractor fan not working. Cheap, worn, green plastic beaker in bathroom. Gravel car park at rear of building unlit at night, accessed by very narrow and uneven concrete path.
Good breakfast and you were asked for a time slot when you wanted it between 7.00 am and 9.00 am I think. Helped us as we had to be somewhere for 8.45
The room was rather too warm
I understood that the room was not ensuite however the shower was upstairs from the very small room and the toilet downstairs. My main issue and one I raised with the hotel was the shower alternated scaldingly hot and in my opinion was dangerous. I have had no reply from the hotel despite giving them my email address, I would appreciate some comeback. The worst thing was the chap on reception agreed that the shower was dangerous: If it's a known problem why haven't they fixed it? Oh and the bedside lamp didn't work and the pillow were uncomfortable. But hey. Feedback from the hotel would be appreciated, some customer service goes a long way.
Comfort. Not trying to overcharge for basic modern day items. Hotel was lovely and quiet.
Nothing. The hotel was full. Yes tiled and laminated floors but not obtrusive on the noise front.
Everything was perfect
Dark car park a long walk from the entrance along a badly paved, steep driveway. Basement room with an exposed dangerous step down into the bathroom, even when the bathroom door was CLOSED! It was funny the first time my wife fell into it. No reception desk, and the sleepy gentleman who eventually came to greet us did not speak English very well (not too much to expect in Surrey). Refused to arrange for an "early" breakfast on Sunday morning (7am). Strong smell of cigarette smoke in the "no smoking hotel". One thin pillow each.
Location Bed was comfortable
Lack of staff presence
The room was pleasant. It had enough provision on the tea & coffee facilities, as well as provision of bottled water. The bathroom facilities were acceptable. The breakfast was good & parking is adequate.
It was a windy evening, my room door rattled a bit when other doors were opened in the hotel. When I filled the sink with water to have a shave, the water emptied out quite a bit before I had finished. I would have liked a under sheet on the bed as the duvet was quite short. Additional blankets would have been nice.
Cleanliness and staff were polite and helpful.
Only one small bath towel. Would have liked a hand towel as well. Position of radiator in bathroom made it impossible to sit on the toilet in anyway but side on! (or burn your leg up against radiator).
The room was OK, good size and quiet.
The bed was a little uncomfortable, but ok.
Clean and decor is good.
If you're on business and checking out before 8am then forget about the free breakfast. Weekends breakfast is from 8.30am
