This elegant hotel has welcomed guests, including royalty, for more than 200 years. The Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote a poem on a hotel window frame, a plaque commemorating this is situated on the hotel’s front. Located in Stirling city centre, it has free parking, a traditional bar and a restaurant serving Scottish beef and lamb. The family-owned Golden Lion offers modern rooms, each with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, tea and coffee and ironing facilities. Each bathroom has a hairdryer, bath and shower. There are shops, bars and cafes on the hotel doorstep, and the magnificent Stirling Castle is just 0.6 miles away. The William Wallace Monument is less than 10-minutes drive from the Golden Lion. The Library Bar has light bar meals, and stocks a range of malt whiskies. The adjacent City Brasserie offers a tasty breakfast and a varied, creative menu, including locally caught seafood. the location was excellent, and the reception was nicely decorated the bed was quite small. The breakfast was poor and the staff not very friendly. There was no hot water for a shower!

Reception area was inviting. Had room 502 it was a disgrace,they should not be renting out this room ,was like a cupboard with dirt water stains all down wall.

room was comfortable and it was very close to the station. staff ordered me a taxi for next morning stragith away and were very helpful. breakfast was delicious in town centre so very noisy until at least midnight (apparently it was student night). also you can hear anyone talkign in the corridor very loudly, and the doors slammed.

Bathroom was clean. Our room was very dreich and faced onto the back of the hotel, not that you could see much as window was dirty. The doors shut very loudly, so the noisy neighbours who partied in our corridor kept banging the doors till about 3.30am. The fruit juice at breakfast had been totally watered down, so the orange juice just tasted like sour water. We paid £99 B&B and it certainly wasn't worth that.

The service was superb..room service quick. Enough towels and travel aids.Beds were comfortable and enough pillows. Food and it's presentation was wonderful. Wifi not good in the room. We booked a quiet room and and the first night had to suffer through a school party that was in the Ballroom directly UNDER our room. Not only could we hear it but we felt it! It stopped at midnight and then the room was quiet. window opened very little so ventilation difficult.

Central position.Close to town centre shops.Within walking distance of bus and rail stations. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. An inordinate amount of noise in the immediate vicinity lasting until the early hours reputedly caused by students leaving night venues.I Am considering writing to local tourist board as it is no fault of the hotel and ought to be managed by the police.

Location in centre of Stirling. Free parking. No hot water in the morning. Room very small. Had slanting window which got full afternoon sun but no way to get any fresh air. Very stifling. Asked if there was a way to open the window and I was told the manager would come up which never happened.

The room was clean and presentable with vg facilities. The dining hall was very in keeping with the age of the hotel and lent an authentic touch. Breakfast was of a very good standard and range. The staff were friendly and helpful. The car parking exit was a little difficult to negotiate due to misleading notices.
