central location, level of comfort
Difficult to find the car park & it was full for some of my stay
The location is excellent for the centre of Sterling and is walking distance from the castle and secure parking so near to any town centre is unique
Central location but still quiet overnight. Good dinner and excellent breakfast - Haggis was a nice touch.
Double bed turned out to be two singles pushed together and covered with king duvet - ridge down middle. Half board dinner options not pointed out at reception. Difficult getting in and out of car park.
very central, own parking, double shower, friendly staff at reception
for the price I would have expected a bit better quality
excellent central location
Spacious in all areas. Good value. Large room with plenty storage. Free parking. Breakfast. Helful staff
Restricted menu for all inclusive differed to menu in room. WiFi was not great.
WiFi only close to reception
Comfortable room and public areas, good breakfast and pleasant staff.
Awakened during night by dripping from ceiling. Obviously not a new problem as ceiling was damaged and there was a dehumidifier in room.
Breakfast was good although understaffed.
I called ahead to enquire about parking- as stated on their website it is limited to about 40 spaces but I was staying for a 2 day meeting held in the hotel and was 37 weeks pregnant with poor mobility and wondered if they could put a cone out as an exception. I was really anxious about the drive alone and being late. As I was arriving at 8am I was told bluntly that they can't guarantee spaces, it was unlikely I'd get one because 'the farmers are here with large vehicles' and he recommended I park in the marches shopping centre (that isn't open at 8am or overnight and has an hourly rate). I later found out from a colleague the nearby wellgreen car park is £2 a day and opens early; something the hotel staff ought to know?! When I arrived it was possible to get a space after a short wait, but the cars parked were mostly hotel staff which I found out on checking in. The room was basic, as expected for £60pn, but it had single glazing windows on to King street and I was kept awake by intermittent drunken shouting until 2am- on a Tuesday night. The room was clean enough but the tv remote control had muck embedded into the grooves beside the buttons and stains all over it as a reminder of previous guests.
Staff welcoming and efficient. Room clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Compact but good en suite. Good breakfast. Convenient parking.
Lack of long hanging space in wardrobe due to iron etc., even though an iron is a good idea.
Was clean and staff were nice.
Card bored thin walls so not much of a sleep
reasonable price good breakfast friendly staff great location for historic centre
sticking doors noise/light from corridor
Easy to get to, centre of town
First phoned hotel to ask where could park car was told Murray place was not offered directions luckily had sat nav. Once in the hotel was asked to pay bill on arrival which we asked if we could split the bill 3 ways to which the receptionist rolled her eyes and said 'i suppose' room was ok beds comfortable bathroom was disgusting with mould on ceiling and screws starting to come out the bath. Saving grace that day was the bar staff totally on the ball. Next morning at breakfast after being ignored by staff decided to pick our own table when after waiting again was then asked if we would like to sit else where. We got our breakfast and returned to the seats we first picked to be scolded by the manager that ' girls since you ignored me asking you to sit elsewhere I will have to get you cups from another table' in an abrupt manner definitely did not make us feel welcome
The location in Stirling was convenient for trains and busses, and close to many of the sights of the city. The rooms were nicely appointed, if somewhat small. Liked having a dressing table in the room, even tho it did take up more space than it should.
This hotel is resting on it's laurels a bit, using their history of service to royals as a draw. However, the quality of service and the run-down decor would likely leave much to be desired for any upper crust. The internet service is almost non-existent, and as I said, the rooms are somewhat cramped. I understand the age of the building makes some updates difficult, and can handle close quarters.
I thought the staff were very friendly and accommodating; the breakfast was absolutely excellent. I stayed here for a wedding that was being held in Sterling. I'm sure that I would have gone for a chain hotel that I know if I was booking it for myself. I'm glad that they suggested that we stay here.
Any negative comment would be trivial. I really enjoyed my stay
Free parking Excellent central location Friendly helpful staff Excellent room rates Lovely old building
The view from our room!
The hotel is situated in the centre, shops at your door step, train & bus stations a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was excellent, but we didn`t have any other meals here. We had a very comfortable double room which was large with bath/shower.
Nothing really to complain about, except as our bedroom was at front of hotel we did hear a bit of street noise, but we still had a good nights sleep.
Good location close to all the major attractions and right in the center of the town near a lot of shops and restaurants.
Car park was full; had to park at the public car park, which was fine. Only 2 pounds per day. A bit hard to get to.
Heating was on full power on entry to room and even after turning off. The room remained unbearably hot and affected sleep
Helpful staff and excellent location
Room on first night a bit of a let down as it did not match the website. Table dhote menu repeated from Saturday to Monday.
the hotel was central and easy to get to. lovely breakfast buffet
that the hotel only had 1 disabled room, the lift only installed 2013, supposed to hold 7. no way it barely held 4,and I had to get out of my wheelchair so the chair could be folded down.the rooms were comfy, though I was not able to get a disabled room
Staff very friendly, and couldn't help you enough, full scottish breakfast was excellent, would definatly stay again
Room on 3 rd floor was above the function suite which had music on till 1 am, very noisey, but room very comfortable.
The location been central in town, plenty of bars around the hotel and variety of restaurants. Nice shops to walk around with items not seen before down in Leeds. Was ideal distance from Gleneagles and great location motorway.
One way system round town centre
Was nice reception
The room was damp no view and loud music :-(
