Score from 683 reviews Very good
Staff welcoming and efficient. Room clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Compact but good en suite. Good breakfast. Convenient parking.
Lack of long hanging space in wardrobe due to iron etc., even though an iron is a good idea.
Was clean and staff were nice.
Card bored thin walls so not much of a sleep
reasonable price good breakfast friendly staff great location for historic centre
sticking doors noise/light from corridor
The location in Stirling was convenient for trains and busses, and close to many of the sights of the city. The rooms were nicely appointed, if somewhat small. Liked having a dressing table in the room, even tho it did take up more space than it should.
This hotel is resting on it's laurels a bit, using their history of service to royals as a draw. However, the quality of service and the run-down decor would likely leave much to be desired for any upper crust. The internet service is almost non-existent, and as I said, the rooms are somewhat cramped. I understand the age of the building makes some updates difficult, and can handle close quarters.
I thought the staff were very friendly and accommodating; the breakfast was absolutely excellent. I stayed here for a wedding that was being held in Sterling. I'm sure that I would have gone for a chain hotel that I know if I was booking it for myself. I'm glad that they suggested that we stay here.
Any negative comment would be trivial. I really enjoyed my stay
Free parking Excellent central location Friendly helpful staff Excellent room rates Lovely old building
The view from our room!
The hotel is situated in the centre, shops at your door step, train & bus stations a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was excellent, but we didn`t have any other meals here. We had a very comfortable double room which was large with bath/shower.
Nothing really to complain about, except as our bedroom was at front of hotel we did hear a bit of street noise, but we still had a good nights sleep.
Good location close to all the major attractions and right in the center of the town near a lot of shops and restaurants.
Car park was full; had to park at the public car park, which was fine. Only 2 pounds per day. A bit hard to get to.
Heating was on full power on entry to room and even after turning off. The room remained unbearably hot and affected sleep
Helpful staff and excellent location
Room on first night a bit of a let down as it did not match the website. Table dhote menu repeated from Saturday to Monday.
the hotel was central and easy to get to. lovely breakfast buffet
that the hotel only had 1 disabled room, the lift only installed 2013, supposed to hold 7. no way it barely held 4,and I had to get out of my wheelchair so the chair could be folded down.the rooms were comfy, though I was not able to get a disabled room
Staff very friendly, and couldn't help you enough, full scottish breakfast was excellent, would definatly stay again
Room on 3 rd floor was above the function suite which had music on till 1 am, very noisey, but room very comfortable.
The location been central in town, plenty of bars around the hotel and variety of restaurants. Nice shops to walk around with items not seen before down in Leeds. Was ideal distance from Gleneagles and great location motorway.
One way system round town centre
Was nice reception
The room was damp no view and loud music :-(
The staff were very helpful. Our room was changed right away as we had booked a double and were given a twin. No problem changing. Breakfast was lovely.
It took us a little while to get access to Hotel, we could see it but it was in middle of one way system.
location, staff, decor, accessibility, bed size, room size, layout
Although the main parts of the bathroom were clean (toilet, bath, sink, mirror, floor) the door was well marked (in a manner that could be cleaned off) and the tiles and skirting of bath/shower really good do with a hard clean.
no wifii in rooms
good location , reception area and bar very nice .
cleanliness very poor , carpet in dinning area was filthy ,food on the floor . Breakfast was dreadful poor quality. bathroom not very clean shower curtain dirty ,soap scum on tiles . Room was a double but so small ,couldn't move . two arm chairs in the room which could not be used , stuck in alcove in front of bathroom door , could not be moved any where else . couldn't sit there and relax or watch TV .Could only get the news channel on TV . Only one window which didn't stay open very well , had to use the curtain to keep it open to get some air in the room . 2am in the morning woken by an argument in the car park which went on for a good 20 minutes , which would be on camera but no-one dealt with . When we complained about room the response was its one of our smallest room , was totally disinterested . When we returned we spoke to a different young lady who was concerned and said she would speak to the manger . we heard nothing . The location is very good ,on entering the hotel it looks good , staff 8/10 . once away from front of house very shabby . Would not use again .
-the staff were exceptional -atmosphere -food
-the one way system in Stirling
The building and facilities are lovely and the location was good from a sight seeing point of view.
Too near to the pub and club circuit so sleep was minimal and disturbed for most of the friday and Saturday night.
Internet not good
Bar and restaurant, staff were good. Location and price
Bed was uncomfortable, room looked dated.
Staff are helpful Food is good value for money
Lack of consistency with rooms, some are quite poor and obviously need an update, others are newly refurbished. Limited channels on TV in some rooms, no internet connection in rooms, rooms with face on to front of Hotel are very noisy between midnight and 2.00 am.
The location was ideal, near to the shops, restaurants and station.
The room was small, with a horrible view of a pebbledash wall and old guttering.
