We only stayed 1 night and that was 27 years to the day of our last visit to hotel and same room as well, for our Wedding Anniversary. The views are beautiful of the moutain and valley. The owners were very friendly. The meal we had in the restraunt at night was nice, but expensive for the amount of food served, and would have been nice with a nice home made steak pie or similar on menu,to get more in as only us 2 in there eating. More of a traditional fayre would be nice.

The situation of the hotel, with excellent walks and views-especially from our chosen room.. The peace and quiet. The young manager was anxious to please ,even though he did most of the jobs himself.

We absolutely loved the atmosphere from the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by Johanna and her son Philip. We only had one night to take in the flavor of Wales, and this was the perfect place to do that. We decided to have cocktails and eat in the beautifully decorated country pub, and we were not disappointed. The meals were delicious: welsh rarebit mushroom appetizer, butternut squash soup, lamb shank, rib eye steak. But more importantly, it was the friendly service of the staff and down-to-earth companionship of the local patrons that made our evening. We were welcomed with open arms and had such fun both telling and hearing the stories of the locals. It made Wales come alive for us! What's not to love about the Golden Pheasant Country Inn? Perfect!

The location made access to Snowdonia and surrounding areas easy. The staff were courteous and most helpful. Breakfast and Dinner were of very good quality and very reasonably priced. We will certainly return in the future and when we do, it will be for a longer duration.

Good location. Breakfast good but service a little slow. Beds comfortable. Rooms in need of updating, they are rather 1980'S. Cleaner missed cobwebs in the bathroom.

The location was just what we like: tucked away amidst beautiful scenery. There was plenty to do in the area. My husband is keen on steam railways (Llangollen; Welshpool not far away). We enjoy visiting historic sites and old houses - Plas Newydd, Erddig, Chirk castle etc. The food at the hotel was good and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and anxious to please.

In a lovely location with nice gardens and the food was excellent In need of modernisation although some attempt at this. Main problem was no shower in our room and bath/ jaccuzi was so big not enough hot water to fill bath. No atmosphere, felt cold.

The evening meals and quiet location. Motor/extractor under bedroom window, came on at 5-50am each morning. Could not have the window open because of the noise and kept running off and on all day. Shower was in need of a good clean, towel rail hanging off the wall, carpet in bathroom is a no no also in need of a hoover. Bed head thick of dust, mirror in bathroom needed cleaning properly. The breakfasts need to be cooked to order not kept in a warming oven / or a quick flash warm up. The waitress needs to be a it more attentive and not rush people with their food ie they need to finish their cereal before getting their fried breakfast thrust in front of them.

Excellent food pleasant staff Needs updating in some areas, but this is being addressed. Too quiet in all areas, needs a bit more input from the staff to give it a bit more of a buzz. A little music would help.did not like being asked if I would like to give a gratuity

Our bed linen and towels were beautifully clean and changed frequently. The food was good, breakfast very good but the evening menu didn't cater for non meat eaters for more than one meal. The room was in need of a more in depth hoover. The shower head was really too small meaning it took a while to shower. The staff were attentive although they were only 3 plus the chef.

The hotel is set in a lovely location - following Sat Nav is risky if you've got a big car (our Sat Nav took us the shortest way - over hill and down dale literally!) The rooms are in need or a complete refresh - they are clean but the decor is anything but modern. The price was a bit steep for the facilities offered but staff were friendly enough.

This hotel was nestled into the Welsh Mountains. The four poster bed was actually comfortable and the food was very beautifully presented. The hotel was the local pub too, so we didn't have far to go to get our pint. We sat outside in the garden and had our cocktails in the evening sunshine. It's located in a tiny village, but just what we needed before we went on our narrow boat holiday - it's about 20 minutes from Llangollen.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Good breakfast and good choice and quality of evening meal. Relaxing lounge and garden. Excellent parking facility. Quiet music in the dining room would lessen the silence and make it easier to have conversations without being overheard.

The staff were polite and quite friendly. The meals there, both in the bar and in the restaurant, were very good - well cooked and reasonably priced. The location was pretty, with lots of walks available if you so chose. I enjoyed my stay there, and would happily stay there again. I was asked to add on a gratuity, if I wished, on payment on leaving which I didn't like very much, since we had already tipped for meals previously, and it made me feel a little uncomfortable.
