Location was ideal for us to visit family. Reception uninspiring. Public rooms cold. Antiquated bathroom facilities - rubber hose on bathtaps for use as shower. Bed extremely cold - obviously heating had been turned off for some considerable time.

The bed was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and obliging. The english breakfast was excellent We would not stay there again. When we arrived the place looked as if it was closed. The room was quite nice and the bed comfortable but we had no shower only a plastic attachment on the taps with the result there was insufficient flow of water to take a shower. Really disappointed in that. Also all surfaces in the room needed dusting. Tiles fell off the wall around the bath when we closed the door!

The location made access to Snowdonia and surrounding areas easy. The staff were courteous and most helpful. Breakfast and Dinner were of very good quality and very reasonably priced. We will certainly return in the future and when we do, it will be for a longer duration.

In a lovely location with nice gardens and the food was excellent In need of modernisation although some attempt at this. Main problem was no shower in our room and bath/ jaccuzi was so big not enough hot water to fill bath. No atmosphere, felt cold.

The evening meals and quiet location. Motor/extractor under bedroom window, came on at 5-50am each morning. Could not have the window open because of the noise and kept running off and on all day. Shower was in need of a good clean, towel rail hanging off the wall, carpet in bathroom is a no no also in need of a hoover. Bed head thick of dust, mirror in bathroom needed cleaning properly. The breakfasts need to be cooked to order not kept in a warming oven / or a quick flash warm up. The waitress needs to be a it more attentive and not rush people with their food ie they need to finish their cereal before getting their fried breakfast thrust in front of them.

Excellent food pleasant staff Needs updating in some areas, but this is being addressed. Too quiet in all areas, needs a bit more input from the staff to give it a bit more of a buzz. A little music would help.did not like being asked if I would like to give a gratuity

Our bed linen and towels were beautifully clean and changed frequently. The food was good, breakfast very good but the evening menu didn't cater for non meat eaters for more than one meal. The room was in need of a more in depth hoover. The shower head was really too small meaning it took a while to shower. The staff were attentive although they were only 3 plus the chef.

The hotel is set in a lovely location - following Sat Nav is risky if you've got a big car (our Sat Nav took us the shortest way - over hill and down dale literally!) The rooms are in need or a complete refresh - they are clean but the decor is anything but modern. The price was a bit steep for the facilities offered but staff were friendly enough.

Good food, comfy bed, nice clean room, lovely gardens. Good location, albeit remote. Young Swedish couple willing and helpful but seem awkward with their roles who need to gen up about wine and improve their stocks and understanding.

The staff were polite and quite friendly. The meals there, both in the bar and in the restaurant, were very good - well cooked and reasonably priced. The location was pretty, with lots of walks available if you so chose. I enjoyed my stay there, and would happily stay there again. I was asked to add on a gratuity, if I wished, on payment on leaving which I didn't like very much, since we had already tipped for meals previously, and it made me feel a little uncomfortable.

The old world charm, It's an ild hotel which has had a lot of work done to it to bring it up to modern standards. It will never be like the modern Travel lodge and it has a wonderful charm that you cant build into a new hotel. The bar food could have been better

Lovely country hotel set in rolling hills of Wales. Good walks down the country lanes. Restaurant offers tasty, hearty meals. Very pleasant terrace garden to enjoy the ambient afternoon sun. The large bedroom had a quaint 4 poster bed with canopy and a sitting area. The staff were very friendly and obliging, even doing laundry as a bag wash where the service is not usually offered. The windows could do with a sun-proof lining to block out the bright early morning sun. The bed although a quant 4 poster canopy bed was only double in size and too short for my 180cm husband. Bathroom had only a hand held faucet in a large bath so showering had to be done whilst sitting.

Friendly and helpful staff (owners ?). Very comfortable and big room. Jacuzzi in bathroom. Food good. Big parking. A bit too quiet. The first night we were the only guests in the restaurant. (Second night we ate in the pub). A bit dated. Needs redecoration (not only painting over existing wallpaper). Not easy to find. (Do not trust your GPS).Not really a village pub. Only other customers were 2 guests.

The food at this hotel was well above excellent. It rates in my top 3 places to eat in the world. I cannot say enough about the quality of the food. I was compelled to actully speak to the Chef and congratulate him on the food. The room we had was excellent, lots of space and very comfortable. I would be happy to return to this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone.

We loved this hotel and think we were very lucky to find it. It's a beautiful old building in an idylic country valley. We had two beautiful rooms one of which was very spacious with lovely views over the attractive garden and up the valley. The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic, the lounge was comfortable and the bar, which had a cosy fire burning, was well stocked with all manner of drinks including coffee and a wide range of teas. When we asked about local walks we were given written detailed directions for a very good nearby walk. We would not have been able to find the walk without those directions. I'm sure they had information ready for other walks and activities. We were sorry to leave this lovely place and only wish we could have stayed longer. If I lived closer I would definitely be back for weekends whenever I could.

Location was excellent, although a long way from Langollen (perhaps my mistake). Very peaceful, spacious bedroom. The hotel was in a time warp and felt very tired and in desparate need of upgrading. Decoration was poor, but uninspiring. Peeling wallpaper in bathroom etc. Bathroom suite was 1970's coloured. Carpets were loose and needed stretching. Food was fair but uninspiring and didn't appear to use local poduce. The place was very quiet - in a 'dead' sense!
