The location of te hotel was lovely.
It was over priced, the hook we're hanging off the wall, the wall paper was hanging off
Bed was comfortable.
Long drive way to hotel full of pot holes, stains on carpets, toilet/shower room not clean and could not use, stool in bedroom wood hanging off ,wouldn't of even if dreamed of using the kettle as it was disgusting all in all not worth money we paid
The room and hotel were nice and very clean.
On arrival they tried to charge me £20 over the original price. Apparently, bookings.com booked it incorrectly. Once I said I would find another hotel, he brought the price down £10, I said no. Finally he agreed to the original price of £40, as if he was doing me a favour. We were awoken at 0930 by someone hoovering outside our room, which was a nice unrequested wake up call.
Comfy bed inexpensive convenient location
COLD! radiator not working in room2 2 milks not many for 2 people overnight
Perfect location for this particular visit
Quite run down Strange smell in the main areas and halls Rooms could do with a renovate Expensive for the quality
Great location value for money
For the price it was good
Could be better but again location was great
Whilst decoration and room itself was shabby, bedding and furnishings looked fresh and clean.
Poor state of decoration and upkeep. Shower showing mould in corners and patchy grouting repairs. Discovered room was double booked and manager had obviously hedged his bets - when we were ejected at 9:30pm! Unforgivable behaviour.
> Room smelt of damp > Bed was uncomfortable > Room was cold and radiator needed bleeding and although the proprietor tried to do this it was not successful
Comfy bed, great location, plenty of car parking, reliable wifi. Lovely old building. Easy check in and out. Easy to get to.
Cobwebs in the room, flies in the bathroom, pillows without pillowcases? First hotel of hundreds I have experienced that has a Lino floor in the room. Bathroom much too small
Desparately in need of modenisation, paper peeling of walls, mould in bathroom, large wet patch on carpet only one plug socket so kettle which was in room needed to be moved and boiled on floor which is unsafe when children in room!
View of trees from room and old world charm of the building. An English teacher so liked the Bronte link too At the price facilities including tea and coffee vg
Shower a bit basic
nice food breakfast
no evening meal no staff comunication and room was tiny and only a shower no bar open after 8pm
Everything. I needed to work very late and the chap was more than amenable to that. He left me downstairs in the bar area and I simply turned the light off when I went to bed.
There was nothing negative at all.
bathroom and tea coffee facilities
Dining room. Location.
Bedroom & bathroom fixtures & fittings badly fitted (e.g. toilet roll holder hanging off wall). Shower / sealant badly discoloured and cracked. Some repairs had been attempted but were very crudely carried out. Bedroom walls / ceiling poorly decorated. Carpet dirty. Window difficult to open. I have stayed in many hotels all over the world and this was by far the worst.
Friendly staff, relatively cheap tariff. Fairly quiet inside and out.
At breakfast there was no fresh fruit, no healthy cereals. The shower cubicle was not clean and was too small. The fittings looked old and tired in the bathroom. The bottom sheet on the mattress did not fit. The room was not big enough to fit a chair.
quiet peacefull setting
couldn't get any hot water in morning!
The gardens provided a very good setting for the hotel.
Everything was tolerable.
The room smelt of smoke
The new chef at breakfast was excellent and the only decent thing about our three night stay!
The hotel was over booked so we were moved to Alder House which was the sister hotel owned and run by same staff. Alder house truly is a disgrace as a hotel, extremely dirty bathrooms and tatty run down rooms; the only rooms that were to a satisfactory standard were the 'luxury' ones. The owner was defensive and unhelpful, however the other staff were very helpful in trying to rectify problems.
Bed was good and clean Price was best in area Service very good
Needs more work in room no lights bulbs in bed side lamps toilet floor not nice the door to the room just fit and was not very well locked
The beautiful garden.
Poor facilities, incompetent manager, noisy neighbours, payment taken twice from my card and still not paid back
They had no record of my booking which i had done online and kept me waiting for 40 min before i was shown to my room!!!
