The room was great for a one-night stay. Very comfortable. The only thing we found missing from our room was perhaps a little mini- bar/fridge. The air con unit was also a bit temperamental at times. It seemed to go from one extreme to the other.

Friendly reception, good location and quiet rooms near a busy road. Very good breakfast. Room was very cold when we first went in. Hotel charged full amount at the time of booking, which we did not know about and which was about a month before visit in spite of saying no deposit required.

The room was very cold and the heating system was extremely slow to respond .....one and a half hours to two hours ..... and then only after an under-manager came and gave a 'cock-and-bull' explanation which to someone who taught heat transfer did not make sense! His answer to the problem was to turn the thermostat up from 25degrees C to 30 degrees C and the temperature was well below 20 C in the room with the heating duct blowing cold air! His attitude was "You haven't given it enough time!" 90+ minutes!!!!????? On a freezing cold day, one would expect the room to be warm on entering!

Ideal location, friendly and informed staff. Relaxed atmosphere, good updated furnishings and good car parking facilities. Size of hotel (medium size) allows for a personal and welcoming atmosphere and offers a safe environment for those travelling alone. Also very suitable and pleasant in terms of an 'away break' for my husband who accompanied me on my business trip this time. Only problem was the use of fixed hangers in the wardrobes. They often fail to support heavier coats/jackets which subsequently cause problems with clothes falling on the floor of the wardrobe. Possibly this is a 'wear and tear' issue and common in most hotels who have fixed style coat hangers. Just a small thing but worth all hotels revising the use and quality of these hangers as one gets a bit fed-up with re-hanging clothes over and over again !!

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband as he had just returned home from being away. The location was spot on, 10 minute walk to the shops and a nice roll back from The pubs! Room nice and comfortable, clean fresh towels daily. Staff very helpful and polite. Breakfast expensive, however a nice cafe is just around the corner, which is cheap and has a wide range for breakfasts. Amazing curry house also round the corner called the ghandi. Overall a very nice stay, a little pricey, but then again it is in the middle of Cambridge city center x

I was delighted by this hotel and it is not often I can say that these days. Staff on the desk were delightful and caring, all other staff very good apart from grumpy breakfast ones! Lovely atmosphere, well maintained, quiet room, clean, comfortable. I have stayed at Best Westerns before and they do vary but I will be back to this one in January. Absolutely no complaints from this jaded weary solo female worker! Breakfast staff could have been more smiley and not touched the tines of the forks when laying the tables but apart from that small observation, nothing.

“We were very impressed with the University Arms. It was centrally located so ideal for shopping and for eating and drinking. We booked early and got a good deal. The parking below the hotel was ideal as we had a lot of gear with our baby. We would love to come back and make the most of the bars in the hotel.” Robert, Stowlangtoft |
