Best Western Gonville Hotel  

The rooms are fine. Simple and comfortable. Big beds and clean shower.

We were rudely greeted when we arrived and were given a disabled twin room on the ground floor that smelt of damp and was very dark. We complained and then got a double room (what we paid for!) on the 1st floor looking out on the carpark! People could also easily see into the room so not much privacy. The hotel is dull, lacks any charm and 100% not work the £162 I paid!

It had everything I needed without having to ask.

Service was sometimes a bit slow but we did arrive quite late so may be understandable.

You can always rely on a Best Western to provide a professional relaxed service. Excellent as always

Very friendly efficient staff. Asked for a room with a view and they gave us one. Room was very well appointed. Only little niggle was absence of a minibar. Would definitely stay again.

Within easy walking distance of all Cambridge main attractions. Parking was free on site. Room had been recently refurbished to a high standard. Breakfast and dinner were good quality. Hotel public areas well maintained. New swimming pool just along the road.

Being a Cambridge person my wife and I were quite impressed with this hotel. The room we had was large and the bed was huge. Clean with a nice bathroom and shower, Stayed for three nights with breakfast which I found the breakfast cost a little high, but on holiday who cares.Good selection menu.Breakfast room was immaculate with tables covered with two bright white table cloths and nice cutlery Another bonus was the car park which was FREE. .So an overall score out of 10 I like to say 9

Perhaps in the summer when it is sometimes hot. No mini fridge in room.

Extremely convenient and comfortable.

Having a car parking spot under a tree and then finding my car was totally covered by bird droppings the following morning. This must happen to every visitor that parks in that spot so why is it retained?

Food good and service in restaurant excellent. Room cleanliness very good.

Had to change rooms as the first provided had inadequate clothes-storage provision (said to be satisfactory for 1 night stays!) Alternative room provided was very satisfactory. We were investigating the possibility of bringing a Rotary Club to Cambridge for a weekend.(needing about 30 rooms)

It was very clean and my room was just as nice as in the pictures if not nicer.

the room we stayed in had noisy heating/air con system which made a slight clicking noise when switching on and off.

The room was very cold and the heating system was extremely slow to respond .....one and a half hours to two hours ..... and then only after an under-manager came and gave a 'cock-and-bull' explanation which to someone who taught heat transfer did not make sense! His answer to the problem was to turn the thermostat up from 25degrees C to 30 degrees C and the temperature was well below 20 C in the room with the heating duct blowing cold air! His attitude was "You haven't given it enough time!" 90+ minutes!!!!????? On a freezing cold day, one would expect the room to be warm on entering!
