Best Western Plus The Gonville Hotel  

When we arrived early and my wife was ill, the staff immediately organised an early check-in. Forced to stay in, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent standard of room service. The next day, when my wife had recovered, we had a great day exploring Cambridge, while the staff looked after our bags. At all times, the service was extremely obliging.

One night was not enough!

I liked the compact layout of the rooms and the fact that they were modern and clean. I liked the cooked breakfast! I liked the free parking.

The shower design meant that the water leaked into the main floor area of the bathroom...not v intelligent!

Great location for visiting Cambridge: car parking and an easy walk to the city centre. The decor felt fresh and the bedroom very comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Friendly staff, great location, reasonable prices = value for money

The Staff were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. Rooms were of a good size with very comfortable beds, a well stocked hospitality tray and chairs. The shower room was newly decorated and very modern.

Would have liked a fridge in the room.

Very friendly service; professional but also homely atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable and space is very efficiently used. Bathrooms in excellent condition.

A nice quiet location, rooms are very comfortable and a nice breakfast.

Free car parking. Excellent breakfast choices. Comfort of bedroom. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff.

Room remained too hot despite efforts to alter control settings. Opaque bathroom door. Lack of wardrobe and drawers (the 'coat rail' on the wall idea looked good but wasn't in practice).

Close to down town and all restaurants & pubs, swimming pool and park

Breakfast is meagre and not very appetising. Air-conditioning fans outside generate a lot of noise

Nothing - couldn't fault it

The staff was great, professional and friendly. Food was very good. Great location and very comfortable. I took notice that it is eco-friendly as that is VERY important to me. I will stay here again.

The shower floor. The floor is not slanted enough towards the drain so every morning the bathroom floor flooded even with a short shower. It came out past the glass separator wall and went towards the toilet and basin area and headed out toward the carpet.

Recently refurbished room, are clean and well presented. Breakfast was good.

Location excellent. Huge room with very comfortable bed. Breakfast cooked fresh to order.

Despite size of room-not a cupboard or drawer to be seen.Clothes had to be left in suitcase or strewn around room.Only hanging space was a rail by door- on a rainy day would have to hang wet coats next to fresh clothing. Booking was for two but only one towel, one shampoo, one drinking glass etc.When more requested the receptionist (seemingly reluctantly and after some discussion) agreed to "speak to housekeeping".We were supplied with one more towel but no other supplies.Guest directory also listed other items which could be requested, one of which was face cloth.I Requested this but was told they did not supply them and the directory was wrong. Generally thought the hotel pricey for what it was.

The location is excellent

My room did not have the ability to have a stand up shower. It only had a hand shower, and a bath too short to have a bath in. Very disappointing.

We would have preferred a bath with a shower to wet floor shower!

Good location, recent investment.

1.Given a "new" room but it was a Disabled room which is not our preference. 2. We found metal clip between the bed sheet and mattress, my wife rubbed up against them and this caused her to wake up. She stripped the bed in the middle of the night to remove the clips and still has a mark on her leg as a lasting memory. I reported this issue to reception before breakfast and asked that it be brought to the attention of the hotel management. As we left I asked for the management response and was told that they were thinking about it and would get in touch; that was Sunday and today is Thursday and we have not received a response. Very poor!

The restaurant staff. and food.

The receptionists, dialling 301 for reception to get milk for an hour, then was told that wasn`t the number, but still didn`t tell us what it was, breakfast was a sad affair really, and was very depressing being in the small breakfast room, with curtains closed.

Location was good, with parking facilities.

We were in a room set up for disable people - no problem with that, but the shower head was so low it couldn't be used standing up and there was virtually no water pressure in the shower. Probably wouldn't recommend on that ground.

The quality of the breakfast was excellent and the beds were comfortable.

No drawers in the bedroom, couldn't really unpack the cases. It was certainly a room suitable for a single business man and we were away on holiday. Felt a little depersonalised too, particularly as it was very expensive.
