Score from 484 reviews Very good
The quietness was great as we had had had a busy day. Parking close by helpful. The bed was very comfy. The TV excellent. The WiFi good. Hair dryer very good.
Only single glazing. Room had not been completely checked as a light bulb was out (reception quickly fixed it). No decaff coffee sticks. No biscuits (as on previous visit). Only 1 chair for 2 people! Odd shower which, on turning off, went cold on me. Then also cold on my partner!
Pleasant public rooms and attractive grounds
Very much a conference hotel. Service very average. Paid discounted rate which probably represented reasonable value, wouldn't pay full rate.
Staff were extremely helpful, and very kind. Good location. Attractive hotel
No twin beds, which we had booked, in the main hotel. However, we were offered a very good alternative twin bedded room in the Lodge, which we took. The double bedroom we were also initially offered looked as though the one double bed was rather small.
bit difficult to find, needs bigger sign... room too hot,had to turn heaters off.
a grand hotel, clean and comfortable
wedding reception took over the hotel, maybe we should be pre warned that a disco , reception and delayed service should have taken over the hotel, felt like an unwanted guest at a party !
Great architecture and lovely food, welcoming real fires in the bar and friendly helpful staff.
It was a little cold in the room.
Newly refurbished bathroom Actually had all free view channels for a change Reasonably large room Got good phone and wifi
The room was cold and dark we were in the lodge part as there was a big music function on before we even got there was told we couldn't eat in the restaurant. We asked for an extra heater as it was so cold it took an age for reception to get back to us by the time we got it the central heating had kicked in. The noise within the lodge of other guests, as well as dodgy plumbing which resulted in a constant whistling in the room which was annoying not great. We didn't have a good night
Willingness of staff to make our stay enjoyable. Felt really personal. Real value for money.
comfortable room dedicated employee nice Hotel and park
room close to backyard kitchen and delivery of stock, noisy
Nice and calm environment
I really only slept at the hotel so,I can't really make a full appraisal. Suffice to say I loved the location and my room was quiet and comfortable. I think I was in a basic room in the annexe
No lift normally not a huge problem but I have fractured ankle bones so the stairs were a real struggle despite my booking request to have a room that was easily accessible
Good choice evening meal menu Slow cooked beef was delicious and the deserts. Staff helpful and friendly
Clean and standard appointment of room. Basic standard breakfast.
Had to walk out to separate building to my room. Had to walk two flights of stairs which is fine with a small overnight bag but not ideal if I was with my family.
The WIFI did not work and the TV signal was not great
Staff were helpful
Did not like having to walk so far from the Lodge in the rain for breakfast. No mirror in the room to be able to see to dry hair. The only one was 10 ft from any electrical outlet!
friendly staff, good service, excellent food and good night's sleep
over bath shower, and carpet in dining room needs replacing
Not a lot
Tiny tiny bed.
Lounge and bar facilities
Given a 1.2 meter bed on a standard double room value deal! Only one pedestal! Sleep impossible and worst double hotel bed we ever slept in anywhere in the world.
Very quiet location nice big house
I booked a room expecting to stay in hotel instead we stayed in room in building at far end of hotel called lodge wot we believe staff was living in as was woken at 5 am with shower starting upstairs and as room was near stairs was loud coming down to early also shower was to powerfull wen turned on the jet went all over the floor was dangerous my girlfriend nearly slipped over getting out of bath no net curtains on window in room had to leave shut as was looking out on main rd everyone could look in
Looked good on approach, bags carried to room, first room poor, rusty bath... £208 for 2 nights so unexceptable in my book, moved, better room nice view of garden TV viewing OK as not anything else to do, WiFi very on and off, breakfast slow and had to ask for butter, bread, to make my toast, milk to go with the pot of tea ! News paper knew I was pushing my luck there and it was a no. Checkout, am still checking if extra money was drawn on my card !!! So all in all did have a great weekend but that was due to seeing family and not so much the hotel visit/accommodation.
The bed was super comfortable, staff did try hard to please, breakfast food good, exterior very nice and surroundings.
Nice room comfortable bed, quiet. Lovely breakfast.
Wow, after not sleeping well for sometime the bed was very comfy and I had a good nights sleep
Room was small for the money, waiter tried to clear plates while still eating, food wasn't the best
The single room was way too small
