Once we had been offered a "bar meal" on tables not much bigger than a round garden table, or a table set up in our room, I guess that the staff realised how unimpressed we were.
Into action came Hannah, who sensed our disappointment, who then contacted Adam, head chef, who came personally to apologise for the lack of communication, and bearing a small plate of canapes. He then offered a table to be set up in the lounge in front of a, soon to be lit for us, open fire, and a promise that we would be well looked after.
We were then both treated to an example of fine catering, served by Hannah and Adam, who I will mention again, as hospitality at its best. We had a superb meal, and discrete but attentive staff who rescued the entire evening for us both.
The situation should never have arisen, but it just shows how you can turn a complete disaster into something so very positive, with just a little thought and attention to detail.
Hannah Kear and Adam, you are both a credit to the De Vere Venues group, and I believe your hotel and the entire group should be very proud of you both.

Before arriving i called to affirm our arrival, and to book a table for the evening in restaurant. Assured all would be ok. On arrival, and once booked in, again requested the table for around eight. Assured there would be no problem. Coming down around 19.45, we were told that there was no restaurant that night.One party in one room and a conference in another. Once I explained the reason I had pre-ordered a table, (it was our 39th wedding anniversary). we were offered initially a "bar meal" then possibly a table in our room. Not what I had wanted, nor did my wife! Not in the least pleased with very poor communication between hotel and ourselves. Now please read the points we liked.
