The location and public rooms and grounds were excellent.
The standard rooms in the courtyard were very poor, tired and with NO outlook. The shower over the bath was lethal with a very slippery bath surface and no grab handle.
we have used the venue 3 times very peaceful setting with lovely walks close by
Elegant building set in lovely grounds. Good sized bedroom and bathroom.
Can be very busy when a wedding is in full swing. Check when booking.
The staff were wonderful, breakfast great and gardens beautiful. We will definitely stop there again
the rooms were very warm over night
Great, nice and cozy place to stay. Hopefully someday I would come here for days.
I really enjoyed the hotel.
Too much noise from the other wedding guest
Access to coffee etc Staff very accomodating Grounds very relaxing
Bathroom floor not clean and lots of hairs on it!
Excellent staff. Clean comfortable room. Plenty of parking space.
Room a bit warm and not much ventilation (or daylight) from small window at one end.
- Staff - comfort, food, service, location, facilities
Did not look for or find anything to dislike
Staff were friendly. Room was clean. Food in the bar was good.
No lift, no porter service and no offer of any assistance by employees who saw 70 year old lady struggling to carry a case up two flights of stairs. Restaurant closed for a function. Were directed to bar for a meal but felt awkward dining there when room was being used for wedding photos. Gave reception car registration details on arrival and was disappointed to find notice stuck to windscreen when I left for car to be moved. They might have just called and asked rather than leave a poorly worded and misspelt notice.
The hotel was well maintained an the rear beer garden was tranquil and well set out.
Everything was good so nothing to add to this section
My whole experience was made by the standard of service from their staff. From booking in to my meal it was excellent.. Look past the reviews, this place is lovely. Thank you for my experience and see you again soon.
I managed to get a special deal on Booking.com otherwise the cost would have stopped me booking the room...
Very polite staff. Food was Good in the bar too.
Left a feedback card in the room, still awaiting contact from the manager. Room smelt of damp on entry. The shower head did not stay on the wall and hit my boyfriend on the head twice as it fell. The plug didn't sit in the plug hole and therefore didn't function - we fixed it. The bathroom floor tiles become completely lethal even when slightly wet. My parents who also stayed in a separate room at the same time as us were given a room where the staff (including maintenance) knew the shower wasn't working, not helpful!!!
Staff couldn't be faulted
The shower in the room we were allocated was known not to be working, but we were not informed at the time of booking in. When I spoke to the maintenance man after our first night's stay, he replied 'didn't they tell you??, it was already known not to be working'. In addition, two of the taps were leaking. When I spoke to the receptionist that evening, she offered to move us, but as we were only staying one more night, it was agreed not to charge us for breakfast the following morning.
Pleasant grounds and building, friendly staff. Decent breakfast.
Room 36 had no AC so stifling hot in summer heat so unable to sleep. No lift in building so had to haul bags up two flights of stairs. Shower tray drain blocked causing flooding of bathroom. Tiny room barely big enough for bed.
Restaurant was expensive.
Lovely gardens, private and tucked out of the way, great price and value for money. Would like to return but on a less busy event filled occasion perhaps (or when they have more staff).
Venue was being used for a wedding and a corporate function and so no outdoor seating was available (on a hot and sunny day at a venue that we had booked for the lovely grounds). Even though I had called before booking to see if would be OK to eat outside that day. Bar wasn't open until we asked and the staff were very preoccupied with the wedding and other events. I paid cash on arrival but then later on the system was down and no-one could see fi I had paid or not... It was just a bit disorganised. The bar was also very overpriced. Lovey setting, great price but not enough staff from what I could tell and would be great for their business if they could be more competitive on food and drink prices. Not cheap but just more reasonable.
The garden was absolutely gorgeous!!
Lovely looking main building. Ample car parking. Lovely grounds around the main house. Very clean internally. Nice sized bathroom with a heated mirror.
The Bar was unmanned until 5.00pm on the Thursday when we arrived. The bathroom window was clear i.e. nothing to stop any one looking in unless you pull the blind down (our room was on the ground floor). Shower flooded the bathroom every time it was used and floor was extremely slippery when wet. Could do with a better (larger) shower screen or different shower head and some grab handles. Only one bedside cabinet in a double room. No full length mirror provided. No sockets by a mirror for hair drying. It seems a shame to turn the tennis court into a car park. A little untidy around the Lodge area where our room looked out onto.
Standard double room very very small, if I had paid full price I would have been very disappointed.
staff were very apologetic but that did not resolve the problem
booked 3 months ago and only got e mail1 week before saying there were wedding functions on both Friday and Saturday nights and the restaurant would be closed for guests.what it did not say was there was only one small bar that would be taken over by the wedding party and the band would be playing in the adjacent room with the door open to that room. we were unable to get a seat and if we did could not speak because of the noise we had to sit outside to speak to our family who were also staying.
Beautiful architecture and surroundings, comfortable room.
Would be good if toothpaste is provided.
Unable to score as phoned half hour before arriving, after two hours of travelling, that they did not have a room for us but had booked us in at another of their hotels which was not near where we had to be in the morning. Awful experience.
Room was dark. Drinks very expensive for what they were. Food OK but could have been better
