Set in a restored Tudor building, The Grasshopper Inn is surrounded by picturesque Kent countryside and offers free on-site parking.
Score from 111 reviews Very good
Only 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the heart of East Grinstead's town centre and just 5 miles from junction 10 of the M23 motorway, the hotel offers comfortable, great-value rooms and free parking.
Score from 151 reviews Very good
Sleep Boutique is 6 luxury boutique-style rooms in a 15th-century mill, The Wiremill, which also has a leading gastro pub with local cask ales.
Score from 189 reviews Very good
With oak beams and open fires, this charming 17th-century inn features a leafy garden and traditional restaurant. The Roebuck sits on the A22 road, on the edge of Royal Ashdown Forest.
Score from 345 reviews Very good
The room was exactly what was required for our stay and the restaurant was also ideal. Good service all round.
Lack of fuss free car parking facilities and furniture or the like being dragged around (in the downstairs area) in the very early hours of the morning.
Good but small room, nice view of the church, very good bacon and egg .
Well positioned in town centre.
Window opens onto pub outside drinking area which could be embarrassing in the summer with late drinkers sitting outside
lovely quiet, clean and bright room, right on the High Street with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops just outside the property.
Parking was difficult. We paid to park in the church car park until 6pm and left the car there overnight. We had to move the car by 8 am and you cannot return for an hour. Made life difficult as breakfast is not served until 10am when CJ's opens.
Room and staff, plus the breakfast were very good.
The accommodation is over a Wine Bar and music can be heard in the room. We were told that the bar would close at !0.00 p.m. but some form of music continued for some time afterwards, although not too bothersome. Behind the bedroom, and on the same level, is a big outside seating area and I would not like to be in the bedroom at any time when this was being used because of the subsequent noise which would be present.
Excellent location. Very good breakfast.
Superior double room at front was well decorated and bathroom superb.
My wife thought bed was uncomfortable but I thought it okay.
Quirkiness and style of building and room, central location in East Grinstead. Breakfast was good.
Although it did not bother us on this occasion because of the time of year, the window of the room immediately overlooks an outside patio area and potentially customers using this outside drinking/eating area would be inches from you. Impossible to pull the curtains back or open the window. Would not stay again in that room for this reason. This facility is actually a few rooms above a cafe/restaurant and it would seem no staff are there over night. I would not really call it a "hotel".
that there were no staff available past 7pm
Lovely location friendly staff and excellent food
Shame the cafe closed early, I would have liked to try it out.
Spacious and elegant bathroom. Regal bedroom with period furniture and decor
We did have the breakfast experience of other other hotels and B & Bs we have stayed at. Will give a 4/10 score
Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good and tasty!
Charming little gem, full of character and nicely furnished. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious.
The main reception and restaurant are located in the bar next door, which means you may have to wait to be checked in when it is busy.
Period property, staff friendliness, nice Vegetarian breakfast, good place to stay on Halloween
The location was perfect for a very early morning start to catch a coach to dover. And arrive back late on our return. Continental breakfast was excellent and one member of staff who looked after us extremely helpful. Décor of room was pleasant and the entry hall and stairs were very nicely decorated. Next to a graveyard but not scary. Church bells ringing in the evening but stopped before we went to bed. Quite nice really. They had large dispensers for Shampoo, conditioner and bath wash. The only place to actually have conditioner on this trip to the uk and France.
Disappointed not to get the four poster bed. Not too noisy even on Saturday night with the pub downstairs. Shower could have done with a better clean.
All round good stay
I'm over 6ft 4 so the bed was a little short for me railings both ends
Room was very clean and I liked the quirky furnishings. Staff very helpful. Great breakfast also :)
The staff were very helpful, great breakfast and located right in the middle of the town. Very nice place to stay.
The only parking is across the road for 6 UK Pounds per day, and the inspectors do check.
handy to Heever Castle
Traffic very heavy on street, lack of parking
Quiet room at the back of the hotel; attentive staff; excellent choices for breakfast; characterful rooms; location on High Street.
Creaky bed; outdated TV (used laptop instead); used earplugs for church chiming every quarter hour.
We had a meal in the restaurant which was lovely. The staff were really helpful and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
I did not dislike anything.
Interesting building with history. Above CJ's bar so handy for food/drink. No excessive noise heard
The staff were very good. Location very good. Very good tray full of tea, coffee etc. bed comfortable.
The room could have been cleaner. Thick dust on head board, nothing smelt fresh. Toilet bowl stained and shower was full of black mould. Breakfast poor, rock hard mushrooms and funny shaped poached eggs, stained tea cup.
