Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly the hotel had alot of character and beautiful scenary. The room we stayed in was tired and damp/cold - there wasnt alot of room for the camp bed (which cost £28 extra) for my 11 year old son but it was that cold and damp in the room he had to sleep in bed with me and his dad which wasnt ideal. This hotel needs alot of money spending on it to get it up to its standard and I thought the price tag of £128.00 for the night was not good. We will not go back or recommend this hotel to anyone we know. sorry.

Our stay was just fabulous. We booked for one night and stayed for two! The staff were absolutely terrific - upgrading us on our first night and finding us a room for our second night. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing - we had scallops and turbot - both cooked to perfection and indeed the presentation and quality was equal to that of a Michellin starred restaurant not too far away!! All in all this is a wonderful place for a break away from it all - roaring fires, afternoon teas, cask ales..... In one word, heaven.

We have visited The West Arms before. This last short break that we had was far far better than our previous stays. The atmosphere was good the staff were good and the food in the Restaurant was second to none. The room was clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was quite delightful. I think that if the Dining room and the main reception/lounge area were re-decorated in lighter colours the whole would look far more welcoming. The snug which has recently been re-furbished looks so much better than it did. These comments are my personal taste and what suits me,would not perhaps suit others. These comments in no way reflect our stay at The West Arms which was excellent.

Great staff, apart from the Manager, top quality food and lovley location The room we booked was described as featuring a separate lounge, a sleigh bed and a luxurious bedroom . The room we were given was very small and basic, had a normal, not very comfy bed, no separate lounge and a very small, basic bathroom that was in no way luxurious, in fact both rooms were quite worn and tired looking. On speaking to the Manager we were informed that Booking.com had put the wrong description to the room and that you had done this before and the hotel was going to contact you to complain. The Manger was also far from helpful. Although there were no other rooms available we decided to stay as we had been travelling for a large part of the day and were very tired. We were very disapointed by the room though as it was nothing like what we expected from your description and also not worth the price of £85, even though the hotel is a lovley old building with beautiful suroundings. The Hotel did however redeem itself with it's very friendly and helpfull staff, apart from the Manager and the wonderful food seved there. We have used your booking service before and have always been happy so we hope that this was a one off mistake that you have looked into as we would hate to be as disapointed again.

friendly and great staff and owner. food brilliant, cosy the ensuite was described as bath/shower, it had no curtain around the bath so you were afraid of getting the carpet wet, I am unable to have a bath and therefore needed shower facilities. the room was described as garden, it was below the level of the carpark, so all you saw were car wheels. but otherwise cosy clean bedroom

We had 3 nights and enjoyed our stay.We had a problem with our beds being too soft on our first night but they were very sympathetic and found us an alternative room. The bar food was excellent so we never tried the main restaurant! The staff were very friendly.
