Room was large, clean, very light with big windows, really nice! We were made very welcome by all staff. We took our large dog which was also really welcomed and she could go anywhere including the bar, other than the restaurant. Hotel is right near the river Esk and was perfect for a walk with our dog. We were on the front of the hotel and the road was a little noisy if we had the window open, but that isnt the hotels fault.

We had a lovely big room, in an end turret, with four windows giving us views of the Scottish and English countryside. Staff very polite and helpful. Although billed as dog friendly there were no facilities for dogs and we had to walk 1/4 mile to find a patch of grass.

Staff, and the fact that for a single room it was better than most.Breakfast was great. Shower took a while to heat up but was fine when it did. I need to learn patience!

Polite staff. Clean room. Good value. Noise from the smokers at back part of the pub (covered area) went on until midnight - fortunately earplugs eventually aided sleep. Take earplugs!!!
