Location is good for Brewery Centre and local shops Comfortable bed Large room Breakfast was good with plenty of choice Manager very knowledgable about area and very helpful
Good parking, friendly welcome, value for money excellent breakfast, quiet at the back of the hotel
pool table needs levelling
Excellent service from Brian and his staff. Couldn't do enough for us. Booked / arranged our taxis, let us use his fridge for storing some proper oatcakes!! Already booked for next year.
Nothing really. Suited what we needed.
Friendly service Good Location (for our purpose) Free parking
No air conditioning ( did not bother too jmuch as the days were not super hot)
The breakfast was a good sized portion unlike the small plates you tend to get at most hotels or bnbs. Staff were bright, friendly and chatty genuinely made you feel welcome. Dining/pub area had nice decore.
There was loud music being played from somewhere during night. Was hot so had to have window open and unfortunately listen to it.
I really enjoyed my stay its the best service and most welcome ive been made in any hotel ive stayed in the uk. Only beaten by 5* resorts in new zealand. Service was better than 5* places ive stayed in birmingham.
The hotel was very central to where we needed to be. The rooms were comfortable & the staff were pleasant.
Manager was really friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Room was spacious. Bed was spacious and comfortable. Wi-fi was welcome. Well situated for nearby attractions and town centre facilities.
The room was dated and dusty, needed a good clean in all the areas outside the main traffic-way. The bath had not been properly cleaned (old soap stuck to it) and the outside panel was broken (fixed with gaffer tape!). Shower fitting provided but would only be possible to use it sitting in the bath as there was no fitting or shower curtain fitted. The existing photo of the hotel is nothing like it's appearance now!
location to town
no hot water in room.lights not working.cold shower
Manager very helpfull
The doors into rooms very low kept banging my head lol. Then again people were smaller back in 1835
Friendly staff Good traditional food & good portions
Pleasant old world feel
Tinned tomatoes at breakfast not appealing
Staff tried their best.
This is actually some type of residenltial hotel with tenants who have mental problems. One of them stared out his room at us. Breakfast featured bread which had mold on it and canned tomato. We were there to see Sudbury Hall and should have stayed in a different village. This one has nothing to recommend it.
Friendly efficient service
No hand wash in toilet No proper area for tea making
This is a simple old fashion inn - it is very traditional and straight forward. If you are expecting luxury and modern facilities, this is not for you. If you are after a friendly welcoming approach, simple comfortable rooms at a very reasonable price, then you will find it here.
Nothing really - I got what I had expected!
The service here is always top notch. Food is excellent. If I am ever back in Burton this is where I'll stay. Excellent value for money.
Rooms quite basic, but still quite comfortable though.
Friendly ness of staff
Refurbished room!!! Bed creaked every time either of us moved. Decor poor - basic, very few items matched. Shower very weak.
Had to wait over 1/2 hour for breakfast, and this was not a busy morning....
Food was good
excellent value for money with friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent
We were in room 23 where the door frame was very low
Very good value for money, Free parking. Free powerful wi-fi. Close to shops.
The staff made up for any misgivings about the hotel. They were friendly, accommodating, professional and helpful beyond some of the best hotels i have stayed in. The new manager was faultless. Shame for an independent hotel who won't have deep pockets. The staff were so nice it was difficult to leave with a bad overall feel. It was clean, tidy just tired and not modern decor and old facilities.
Wasnt worth £55 per night. I was moved from the first one which was dated and old. The second one had a chemical toilet which smelt fumey and a very weak shower.
Staff were excellent food superb great value
Tiny space for toilet seat
Wifi was good and food was nice and wasn't far from anything you needed such as shops.
