Graineag Bed And Breakfast  

From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, Barbara and Ian succeed in creating a "feeling at home"-experience. Nothing is for sale but everything is available upon simple request. Or even without asking: Barbara and Ian just seem to know what you want. There are definitely more boutique-type B&B's (that cost twice as much), or B&B's that could earn a designer award (that hopefully match your own taste), or B&B's with bigger lounges (and more rooms of course), or B&B's with even more homemade products for breakfast (where you wonder where they grow the oranges in the homemade orange juice) but I doubt whether there are B&B's where the concept of being a guest is so deeply fulfilled as at Graineag. I'm quite sure that when I return to Graineag (and I certainly will), it will feel like I've only been away for a while, almost as if I came back from a trip instead of beginning one. The location is also excellent: Loch Ness is 10 minutes away; South Loch Ness 20 minutes; Glen Shiel 30 minutes; Inverness , Affric, Culloden, the Whisky Trail, Skye, Fort William between an hour and an hour and a half, even the Cairngorms, Applecross, Torridon, Glencoe are hardly over 90 minutes away. Doing all of this from Graineag-"home" is much easier than changing beds every day.

Nothing.

This is perfect for a quiet time in a natural environment but with a cafe next door. Our room was modern,spacious, clean and charming. The location is ideal for travel to the Inverness area in the E., to the west up to Skye and to the beautiful Glen Afric area in the N. The host is genuinely warm, friendly and very helpful.

What I liked most was the staff couple been very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean, spacious and tidy. Truly enjoyable.

The weather. But this is something that you must take for granted

We liked and enjoyed the whole experience of our stay at Graineag. Barbara and Ian are very friendly and helpful owners. The quality and cleanliness of their home is first rate. Superb breakfast! My husband and I had a wonderful time there in our Easter holiday. Ian and Barbara are amazing hosts. Very nice people, super friendly, they really make you feel at home. It was our first B&B experience and we don`t regret going...the B&B is in a very good location although it is not inside Inverness and to be honest that didn`t bothers us at all because we wanted to explore the Highlands and it is impossible to do it without renting a car anyway no matter where you stay. All the bedrooms were immaculate clean and the breakfast was our favorite part of being there, I have no idea how Barbara can keep everything so good especially when she had a broken arm. They give a lot of attention to the details, we always had bottles of water in our room as well as chocolates, tea bags, hot chocolate in packs and fresh milk... They even remember to give us Easter cards!! Those little details make a big difference in everything. Oh and the landscape is superb! It really feels like you`re in a small Scottish farm like in the movies:)

I didn`t like to leave and now I miss Barbara`s perfect scramble eggs.

Really friendly hosts, very comfortable room and splendid location.

Barbara is a wonderfull woman. Everything was just perfect during our stay. Nothing was missing at all. The room was so beautifull and comftable. Barbara really takes care of her guests wondering at each time if we had everything we needed. She was alsow so helpfull about our trip, telling us the best places to go... I loved staying there! This is 5 star luxury in a B&B. I have stayed in many hotels that were not so well appointed . Big room - huge bathroom (with proper sized towels) - all the extras you need including a fridge and a huge bean bag so that you do not have to sit on the bed to watch TV (unless you want to of course!) The breakfast was fab and the welcome so warm it didn't feel like a 'business'. Loved it and I am already thinking about how to fit it in to a return visit to Scotland

Everything! This was my first B&B experience and I loved it. Barbara was a wonderful hostess, very kind and helpful, and the house was beautiful and very comfortable. It was one of the cleanest places I have ever been in, also! I wish we could have stayed longer.

Everything. The room, hosts, breakfast, location, and all the little things were perfect! Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in the Highlands! We will be back on our next vacation! Thank you again!

Breakfast was lovely cooked to order with great choice and friendly service. Nice selection of yoghurts and fresh fruit salad/cereal aswell as full cooked breakfast. We were on our honeymoon and were so flattered to recieve a gift from barbara who looked after us very well. Her knowledge of local area helped greatly with our sightseeing of loch ness. Our room was immaculate and warm, the bed was right size and comfortable and had all facilities we needed including a fridge with fresh milk and bottled water for our stay. These little touches made it perfect the ensuite bathroom was large with seperate bath and shower which was nice after long day sightseeing could both relax at same time with plenty of hot water.We will happily stay again if up in Scotland again. Room and bathroom spotless and modern.

Lovely large and comfortable bedroom and ensuite bathroom.. The owner, Barbara, was very attentive and helpful and the breakfast was arranged for a time of our choosing. The setting was rural and very peaceful.

Friendly People and a lovely B&B, highly recommended.

This B&B was the best of our whole holiday. It is very good located (near Loch Ness), the room is lovely and the bath is wonderful and you are directly in the nature (very beautiful garden, little stream). You get everything for breakfast what you want, continental and cooked and all infos about scotland what you would like to know (thank you Ian for the kilt explanation). Our stay at Graineag was probably one of the most relaxing short breaks we've had in a long time.Our accomodation was second to none. Barbara was an excellent host , nothing was too much trouble from telling us where to go ,which local pubs/restaurants to use, even providing candles when we sat on the patio one evening. Amazing breakfast each morning did'nt manage to sample everything. Just one comment Barbara from James ! BEANS MEANS HEINZ.!!! Would definately stay here again,
