Full English breakfast was good and staff were friendly. Room not cleaned every day. Towels not changed daily. Several items broken in bathroom. Strong smell of dog in upstairs lounge.

A really friendly hotel full of character - it does not have the clinically clean look of a faceless chain hotel but is still very clean and clearly well cared for. It feels very much like staying with older relatives with a really homely look and atmosphere. The communal areas are particularly nice as they are private enough so you can relax away from the bar but give somewhere to go so you do not feel couped up in one room all the time. It may look tired in places but for the price you cannot beat the warm and friendly atmosphere. Some people might think the carpets and bedding have seen better days in the cheaper rooms but they are exceptionally clean - if you like modern clinically clean hotels this might not be for you unless you go for the best rooms.

We found the owner to obtrusive, intrusive and down right rude.i booked this room and under special instructions requested an en suite. When we arrive we were placed in an en suite when we came down from the room I asked if I could book for the next week whne I told her what I paid I was told that I was in the wrong room and should have been in a standard room. I explained that that should have been made clear when I booked or she should have known when she put us in the room. Anyway she wwnet on and bloody on so and even told me that I should have know what room I was getting for my money, the descripotion I got on the booking form was "room" we checked out next day and went elsewhere

The staff were friendly and welcoming.Overall the hotel is very good, the room that we stayed in was small but clean and comfortable. I think the only thing that spoiled our stay was the banging of fire doors by other guests at night.which woke us up.

Pat the lady owner is the loveliest lady.....northern hospitality at its best...I Can't think of a better place to stay if you want a warm homely environment!! If you want 5 star go find a five star hotel..Grains bar is not five star, you get what you pay for in a 3 star hotel, but a hug and a kiss on the way out from Pat is worth 100 stars. Thanks for a lovely weekend Pat, will be back in March after your holiday xxxxxx Rachael and Oli...Frankfurt xxx

Staff ignored us on arrival. Stayed in room 6, don't know if it was underneath the kitchen but the noise from above was really annoying. until about 1am. No soundproofing between our room and the next - could hear every word spoken. Also sounded as if the bins were right outside our room, and they were in constant use till about midnight. Got up and left ay 6am, not going back.

I loved the fact that, although so close to Manchester, it had a nice country atmosphere. I also liked the Indian restaurant nearby.

Good location for a family event at Saddleworth Golf Club. Staff were helpful and pleasant and found a safe place to house my husband's bike. Walls and ceiling paper thin. We were kept awake most of the night(until 6.45am!) by noisy, selfish guests above us. Also curtains were very thin and the outside lights of the hotel lit up the room, making it difficult to sleep (as well as noisy guests)!

Good location for me, and reasonably priced rooms. It's a bit dead in the evening/night. I got there at 9.15pm and I had to scare up the owner to get checked in. The bar was already shut down. Sunday was the same story. It felt a little like a haunted house (although from the bookings and the car park it looked as if it was full).

Lovely hotel - very quaint - Fabulous countryside views especially on a slightly misty morning! Nice friendly staff. Great value for money. I had a shared bathroom which was very clean. TV and tea making facilities in the room - comfy bed - what more can you need after a long drive! Would definitely stay there again. The road at the front is quite noisey because cars speed past - you probably can't hear this if your room is at the back.

“I think that when you book a premier inn you book it because of the brand and this was what it said on the tin! A comfortable, clean room to stay in with a good breakfast the next morning. We did not want any other facilities so this was just ideal and we got what we paid for.” Helen, Newcastle-upon-tyne |
