room was comfortable
reception staff a little unfriendly, been using this hotel for several years and have seen the standards gradually go down.
Hotel was clean & staff very helpful.
Had to stand in a queue for breakfast as only 1 member of staff showed people to there table and you had to wait for them to come back to see to the next. Quite a queue formed. Also would have been nice to not have had to pay for the car park whilst staying at the Hotel
We had a good sized room with a balcony and views of Hythe. A huge comfortable bed and great facilities.
Brilliant location for cruise terminals gets holiday off on a "high"
The venue was brilliant, best decorated room and very efficient staff, they served a three course meal very quickly a were very polite, we were most impressed with all the staff from going through to check in until we vacated. Just that
The only thing we found wrong was the fact we were given a room with a window that would not close propley. It was really cold in the room. But the maintenance man told the duty manager and we were moved to another room, so all worked out well in the end.
door staff. heat in room?. cgeck in staff not at desk in behind closed door, had to get their attention each time. not told about extra charge on credit card. heater in room not working. bed on wheels.
The bar food was terrible I ordered the burger. Not sure what the meat was, luke warm chips and old salad
Location.Bed. Bar food. Great breakfast.
Dinner not great
I like the room style and size same with the wash area. Good views,
I didn't like how the staff share the price of the stay or the food price at the restaurant so openly, it was ment to be a surprise so I'd rather not let my partner know the cost! The fish and chips at the restaurant was very bad, it tasted like it had been re heated up although it was 21.00 pm, but a restaurant with such a good reputation should be much better. The room was cold as there was a big draft from the closed window.
The bed was too small and too hard. I did not have a good night's sleep. When the room costs well over a £100 per night I would have expected a bed I could spread out in - not a 2' 6" single. I was also extremely surprised to receive a £2.50 surcharge for using a credit card. As a business traveller I use a company credit card and so did not have an option
The hotel was close to the Red Jet and to the Mayflower Theatre. Food was excellent as were the staff
Considering the price of the room we had, we expected our room to be perfect and it wasn't! The small toilet was constantly running water and smelt damp and musty. Plugs not working. Making drying your hair etc impossible. Portable heaters ( in this day and age!). And the shower was awful! Very small bath with overhead shower that even at 20 degrees was too hot and no power to the water at all. Hairs left in the bath (yuck) Lamp next to bed not working. We did complain to reception and another room was offered but as we were only staying the night we didn't feel that we wanted to move. Another person was also complaining at the same time. As it was my birthday and a very special occasion we were bitterly disappointed.
service was good.
My room was so cold I had to put a warm towel on my bed and sleep with a sweater on. No amount of adjusting the thermometer made any difference.
Loved the hotel, food good value ,leisure facilities good ,staff were very friendly which was lovely, and being close to the shops excellent .
The only criticism I have is the pool could have been a bit warmer.
We had excellent 1 night stay pre cruise. Our evening meal was very good(great value if you book inclusive), good breakfast too. Pleasant attentive staff. Lovely room with large TV. Great pool. Transport to cruise terminal was just £6.
Excellent co-operation for the provision of taxis etc. Heating malfucntion but supplementary room heater was provided promptly. Very satisfied
Check-in busy and a little slow
The refurb has been great. Hotel now worth its star rating. Excellent location with great views.
Prices at the bar a bit steep.
Breakfast was very good, pool was good.
Felt the room upgrade was not as good as rooms I have stayed in at the Grand Harbour in the past, very disappointed.
Great location for a pre (or post) cruise stopover. Clean, comfortable with excellent staff. Good food in the a la carte restaurant.
The a la carte restaurant. It is perfect for breakfast but lacks ambience for an expensive dinner. Kitchen & staff not very well organised
Location Size of room Warm relaxing ambiance
Poor crossing the T's & dotting the I's on customer service Specifically requested any red roses to be placed in the room for arrival as explained clearly on booking it was a very special occasion however staff forgot :(( Rust in the bathroom !!!!! Disgusting I selected this hotel for prestige and ellegance and being what I thought was the best hotel in southampton however the finer details room condition and staff of a high grade hotel were lacking Hopefully these will be looked at and resolved as am appreciative of the hotel and hospitality trade as know the depth involved to run a hotel engine however that doesn't excuse dropping standards of excellence This is from a true respectful guest who wanted to make this hotel a annual relationship however now not sure and disappointed
Good looking hotel. Great location for us as we wanted the Isle Of Wight Ferry. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Our room smelt terrible (stale cigarette smoke). Not a very inspiring menu for dinner, sounded like everything was possibly coming out of the freezer so we ate out. When we got back our toilet had leaked over the floor so we were moved. The next room was very nice.
It is very convenient for the Docks at Southampton, and makes for a really good Launchpad, for cruisers.
