Friendly efficient staff. Fabulous hotel with great character and history in a superb location.
Entrance and lounge, bedroom
Utter chaos regarding the booking, shower screen so narrow water went everywhere, room not made up when we went back on the second day of booking at 2.15 and had to wait an hour in the lounge for it to be made up...very, very poor communication.
Friendly staff. Room was ready despite arriving before agreed check in time. Perfect location. Rooms are complete (thank you for the chocolates and the wine!). Building has a lot of character and the rooms look nice. Would definately consider coming back (again).
The size of the rooms are, how to say this correctly, really small. Rooms look nice though. Also the bath room is the size of a standard restroom and it's amazing that they fit a shower, toillet and sink in this space but it's all there and it looks quite nice too.
I like the location very much. We walked from the hotel through Hyde Park to Harrods and it is a nice walk I like how they decorated the the hotel it makes you feel in London
The rooms are not that big, but i expected that from London Wifi reception was a bit slow We had a room in the back which does not have a nice view at all, in fact the lack of daylight coming through made it a bit less comfortable
Apologies were given re staff not understanding basic English. However, the same person was still on duty.
Reception staff didn't appear to understand basic English.
The way our complaint was handled
The first room we got was terrible
Wood floor is super annoying
Lovely theatre bar excellent bar staff
Room too small and too hot
Hotel is on the corner of Queensway underground: great! Nice quiet location and a beautiful hotel with all those old details. Rooms are nice, VERY clean with a good comfortable bed. WiFi is working good. Rooms are indeed a bit small but . . . you are not visiting London to stay all day in a hotel room!!! There's plenty of space to walk around the bed etc. I will stay in this hotel again.
Friendliness reception needs an upgrade! Bathroom is clean but can use a shower shield/curtain because floor gets very wet. Breakfast is expensive; around the corner is a pub who serves a very good breakfast for less. However I will stay here again!
Conveniency of the location
Too small rooms. Photos on the web site do not reflect the size of the rooms.
Entrance and welcome was very good and location wasn't too bad
Room too small for what we booked and payed way too much!
Size of room, no double glazing so noisy and no shower screen/curtain
The staff very friendly and was happy that we could leave our luggage for the day
The only problem i had was the niose outside as our window wasnt sealed and you could hear a lot of niose. The room service we ordered to some time and the salmon sandwich was stale.
Reception and lobby in nice old dark wood. If you like old style English, it's a good choice. Room was fine, not too small, which in London is always an issue.
Bathroom was a bit tight, with the door swinging inside you had to worm your way in. Also taking a shower results in flooding the rest of the bathroom...
Location is the only thing we liked.
We booked 2 rooms here. Rooms a really tiny maybe it is normal for London, but they were the smallest I have seen. I traveled in London 3 or 4 time, and haven't seen such small rooms even in budget hotel. Window in the room was too old, it had huge holes with cold wind blowing from them. It was really cold. I woke up few times during the night because wind blowed to my back. We were unable to switch on air condition to compensate temperature, because then you switch it on after few minutes you do not have air to breath (temp was set to min). It is noisy, you hear everything. Well hearing neighbors is normal for a hotel, but here is much worse. Upper floors have old wood flooring which was creaking, plus very noisy ventilation (or canalisation) sound outside. Do not worth money we paid.
The reception area and breakfast room interior as well as the staircase is lovely the photographs do not do it justice But sorry to say there's nothing else that would make me go back!!
Booked a superior double room on arriving hotel reception exactly like the on site photographs Went to our room what a disappointment it was a box room with a double bed at the side do the bed you could not walk to. Get into the bed there was so little space you had to climb on at the bottom of the bed! Complained no other rooms that night moved the following day to a fair side club room again disappointing ! Not value for money and certainly not what we expected in need to repairs ! Had to keep blinds closed as view from window was rubbish bins !! Reception Staff not the best help stated that they did not work with booking.com so had no influence over the room descriptions / photographs!! Not interested at all !! Asked for a taxis to be booked they did not bother until I asked again after waiting 10 minutes they eventually picked up the phone by which time we left and flagged one down outside! Not a good experience! Will not recommend it and will never go back !!
was very surprised how small the room was and that was after being upgraded. We do this trip once a year at the same time for 4 nights, and feel for the money we should have been more comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I think the rooms were slightly on the small size.
The hotel was beautiful , excellent breakfast
I paid for a Superior room but could not see any vast difference from a standard room . The rooms were extremly small not worth their price
Location is great
The sizes of the room are tiny Bed size is also tiny for two people although we had an upgrade from deluxe room Shower is far too small for a tall person Reception is not interested in hotel guests - poor service
Breakfast was excellent, although I believe it is overpriced. Perfect location.
Windows: single glazed windows and with many drafts, sleeping just under it was not pleasant.
Bed was very comfy, had a very grand entrance, bar and lounge area. Very good location. And once you managed to get down the stairs in the dark to the en-suite, the en-suite was actually very nice.
Once past the amazing entrance the room didn't have anywhere near the same wow, floor boards very squeaky from floor above. Room was very hot. Window didn't open and the room was tiny with a staircase in the bedroom to go down to the en-suite.
Great location and friendly staff. Wifi was free in the room even if a bit slow. Free fruit on arrival is a nice touch.
Room was very small. Bed only just fit and was so close to the wall that some kind of weird shuffle was required to get in and out. Face the wall, hands out and shuffle sideways.
very nice staff, location
cold at night
I enjoyed the stay and the staff were very helpful, the hotel reception and adjoining rooms were very nicely presented
Our bedroom was very small with about 6 inches room at each side
