This Hotel was fantastic for our needs on a 3 night city break. The location is excellent, I have never been to a london hotel that was so close to the Underground. It is litarally 2 minutes from Queensway station but because it is in a side street off of Bayswater Road it was very quiet. Our room felt as if it was brand new but yes I do admit that it was small but we are talking about central london so if you can find bigger, better and cheaper please let me know! The bed was very comfortable and we had fresh towels everyday and plenty of tea bags and biscuits. I really can not give any negative remarks at all and look forward to staying again.

The Hotel reception and bar very old theatre world look. The cleanness of the room and the facilities in the room, great shower very modern.Close to underground station and a walk in Hyde Park. Paying as soon as I walked in the door if this had been a special treat for my partner I may like to pay later, its a bit vulgar and indicates the hotel or room may not what you are expecting which rings alarm bells. The hotel staff on arrival where a bit standoffish and as above seemed only interested in taking payment, I was not asked if I would like to take breakfast in the morning and not really clear if it was included in the price. Whilst the room was clean warm and modern I was more than gutted to find that LG was not just the TV in our room but where the room was Lower Ground! I have to say you need to make this clear on the web sites when booking, mine was booked as a Superior Double Room this in no way I have to say indicates- basement- no view trapped!

Location This hotel is pretentious. We booked a superior roon, which turned out to be on the lower groud floor. With the widow below ground level, which was obsured by bags of rubbish. We complained, and was offered a room on the ground floor. Still below ground level, with damaged shower rail curtain holder. Although reported, never was repaired. No tv remote in the room, this proved a problem for them, since the only one they had a t reception had no batteries, and finally I suggested that they may have one in another empty room. Finally one arrived. All in all, an over priced shambles..

There was a particular female staff whose name I unfortunately can't remember who was very rude. Also I was kept in a very horrible room with a tiny bathroom that I had to request to be changed. Then I was moved to an okay room the next day.

We stayed here for the first time as we were in London for birthday celeberation/theatre etc. Staff very friendly and helpful without being intrusive, also provided complimenatary wine. Excellent breakfast. Very clean, well-appointed rooms as was hotel generally. Exceptional value not usually associated with this degree of quality.Would highly recommended and will stay again Windows didnt open. No radio/music.

While the hotel was clean and the staff were lovely we did not like the position of the room being 2 levels below ground floor it was very clostraphobic and we felt as though we were not part of the lovely hotel.

The location which is perfect. The reception staff who were friendly, helpful and efficient. The staircase which is astounding. The deal we got which made it amazing value. The room was a little cold, draught from amazing old window, but in many ways that is better than overheated hotel rooms?

This hotel is a 3* basic hotel not a 4*!! the food was of a poor standard there was no room service. The bar was bare and uninviting. Alot of the staff hadn't been trained properly. We moved rooms after the first night because the room was so cold. The water never got hot just warm. Bit of an overall disaster.

The history was an added bonus, the rooms were quite small but very comfortable and well furnished, really clean everything you would need, bathroom was a bit of a squeeze but otherwise really lovely. The breakfasts are exeptional value for money in beautiful surroundings and a superb choice of food. The staff were very helpful particularly the young man in the bar nothing was too much trouble for anyone we checked out at 10am but could have stayed until noon our train home was not until 8pm and we were able to leave our suitcases at the hotel at no charge and collect them at 6pm on our way to the station. I find this outstanding service. I would choose this hotel again without doubt and recommend it to anyone coming to London. The location is superb. Can't praise the Grand Royale enough.

We were on theatre break and had booked another hotel of which 1 night was paid. We love character hotels and saw this 4 good price and booked. On arrival we were sent 2 another hotel in chain. We were v upset and disappointed as we were celebrating special occasion. I phoned hotel chain who arranged 4 us 2 go back next day. The delay meant we missed what had been planned. If t hotel was overbooked further bookings should not have been accepted. We were given complimentary breakfasts but had not planned bfasts

Nice lobby, nice old building with original elements Unfortunatly too many things to come back...we booke deluxe room, which was supposed to be spacious, but is was very very small.. After telling that on the reception they did not borther to give us another room.......personnel was not supportive at all, we have asked to book a taxi, but they did not, and did not even tryed, or said that they don't have it as a service. The wifi in the room was very unstable, was not possible to work. There is no minibar in the room.

The hotel is very well located - honestly only a couple of minutes walk from the tube station which is only three stops to the West End. The building must have been a beautiful house in its heyday and the downstairs is very picturesque. Bedrooms are smallish but it is always the same in city hotels and they have been newly refurbished. Two nice touches - they still supply biscuits on the tea tray in the room and there is a bowl of apples on the front desk. Surrounding area is good - plenty of restaurants to choose from. Would thoroughly recommend it.

Location The room was extremely small. It was so small that even though a luggage stand was provided there was no place, except perhaps the bathroom, big enough to stand it up--I'm not exaggerating! The superior double room was not at all superior! Breakfast was not included even though the booking site said it was!

Close to underground station. Close to the best Hotels area. Close to good restaurants. Is the smallest room that I ever seen. It´s merily impossible for a couple to stay to that size of room. It was no space for anything. To use the Internet you needed to seat in the bedroom. It was no space to be standing. You could only sitting or laying in the bed.

Excellent location beside Hyde Park, very convenient to the Central Line (underground railway). This connected well via Bank Station to the Docklands Light Railway for London City Airport. Nearby Queensway offers many restaurants and shops. The double room 704 was very clean and had a lovely en-suite bathroom. However, for a double room it was quite small; there was barely space between bed and window to walk around. I would have thought that with the restrictions on size this room would have been more appropriate as a single room.

The location is good next to Hyde Park The size of the room was the smallest we have ever stayed in to the point where we both said we would never stay here again - £149 for the pleasure of staying in a match box! The staff didn't even ask if we had a nice stay ... never again!

“Excellent staff and location, the staff are the No1 factor for a stay at this hotel. The location close to the city centre and transport connections is excellent. Oxford Street is within walking distance (15-20 mins) and Queensway is only 5 minutes away for reasonably priced restaurants. ” Gerry, Kilcock |
