The staff were excellent as was the food. However the bed was very uncomfortable and the shower did not work in our room which was a disappointment.

We liked the feeling of indulgence. We had a sharp welcome at reception when there was a problem registering, but otherwise the staff were friendly yet efficient and nothing was too much trouble. We were treated with respect especially as I am in a wheelchair and needed extra help. The only complaints apart from the mix up at reception on arrival was that the hot breakfast buffet was not very hot, but rest of the breakfast was delicious.

Although I booked on line and received a discounted rate for the room, I was expecting a deluxe room with an inland view as confirmed on the booking form. I did not expect to look out over the roof and ladders of the hotel, so yet again another disappointment. The hotel is very grand but the room was a huge disappointment!

Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. Gave a card for our 35th Wedding Anniversary and a free upgrade to a suite! How's that for service. Not enough light in bedrooms.

It is a fantastic hotel with wonderful staff, rooms, view and position facing the English Channel. It is a proper 5 star hotel with all of the service expected of this type of establishment So it is not cheap - but you cannot buy a Bentley for the price of a Fiat. Overall a wonderful short (but too short) stay. Here's to the next time. The restaurant menus did not offer a lot of choice, On the previous nights befor coming to the Grand we stayed at the Millstream at Bosham, near to Chichester, Dare I say that the menu and quality of the food was better than the Grand ? It was !!!

Wonderful service from all members of staff, in truly grand surroundings. A great place to relax. Rather limited parking that involves a degree of 'faffing' to cope with.

Location close to beach, promenade, shops and railway station. The staff were excellent and knew their jobs well. The room was very clean and a comfortable bed. Lack of air conditioning in our room,it was very stuffy and we had to ask for a fan which was promptly supplied. The furniture and carpet in the lounges were tired and need to be updated. For a 5 star hotel the band were poor.

The swimming pool areas, including steam room and saunas were excellent. Even the outdoor pool was heated. This was an expensive Hotel which I expected. However we would have liked at least a 5ft double bed in our room instead of a standard 4ft 6 double. The room that we had was comfortable although very noisy as it was overlooking the kitchen area and there was the sound of fans going all night.

The Hotel's location in Eastbourne could not be better and its original grandeur could not be better presented. Both features are ideally suited to and surely much enjoyed by the mature clientele that this South Coast resort town attracts, both town resident and visiting. A trifle perhaps but I thought that the extensive brass furnishings to the lift architraves and corridor fire doors were in need of attention/polishing at intervals during the day to remove inevitable unsightly fingerprints

The gentle, calm atmosphere in the Mirabelle Restaurant - and the food was delicious too! Being able to walk around in such a beautiful building and rest in each lounge or hall. The afternoon teas ......mmmm..... And not being hurried along. It was a very restful stay We had a lovely big bed that was so soft I nearly slipped off twice as I went to sit on the edge of it!

The Victorian style, you are in a world of old classic style in the good way. Staff was so professional and service orientated, best of class. Breakfast was magnificent. Swimming pool, steam, sauna, spa was magnificent. Hotel room and service was excellent. I even got upgraded on arrived to a room with view. The location right to the beach with some nice walking area was also perfect. I will return to this hotel again :) Unfortunately I didn't have a jacket or tie so I couldn't dine in any of the restaurants in the evening - coming from Denmark this is no costume so I didn't know that from home - maybe this could be highlighted on the internet.

Staff give you a friendly welcome and make you feel relaxed from the moment you walk through the door. Service is always with a smile and staff put themselves out to make sure you enjoy yourselves. Afternoon tea in the great hall is hard to beat but Sunday lunch in the garden restaurant comes very close. A walk along the sea front just finishes the whole Grand experience off perfectly!

Quality of the service we received from staff and the attractive setting and appearance of the hotel. Spa and changing rooms could go with improvement. Also lack of Wi-Fi in a 5* hotel was slightly disappointing.

Everything. The staff were extremely well trained and pleasant. All the meals and facilities were excellent. The front desk were very obliging and helpful and it was obvious that lots of guests were having a most agreable time. We will go back in 2012. We could not eat in the evening either night becuase I had thought that it would be quiet after Xmas and the hotel was full.
