The late checkout time of 11am was handy. The inland room was quiet, with just the hum of the heat exchangers outside, despite the hotel appearing to be fully booked up. An evening drink in the glass fronted conservatory with beach view was very pleasant. The hotel car park was full and the closest alternative was £25 per day at the NCP nearby. This was not made clear before arrival. At breakfast the filter coffee was disgusting, even instant would have taste better. The radiator heating was switched off and it was slightly chilly to begin with but did warm up overnight.

Lovely communal areas, excellent staff, great breakfast and super position. Valet parking expensive but very easy and efficient (you get what you pay for). Very quiet. The room was pretty small and basic for the price.

We found the Hotel of excellent quality, with friendly and efficient staff, The restaurant provided very good food and service. We would use The Grand again The Reception area was small for the size and standard of the Hotel and It can take a long time to Check in and out.

All meals excellent, service good, position good. Our stay completely ruined by a very very noisy room caused by generators outside our window that went in to turbo at around 4am. Too much effort at that time to get dressed and packed to request a room change. What made the situation appalling was that on checkout we were told they were aware of the problem for certain rooms - so why take our money and put us in them! Sleepless night.

From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we had a fabulous time. Our stay at the hotel was exceptional,We were greeted by Colin who straight away put us at ease he supplied us with a map of Brighton and continued to do everything he could to make our stay perfect. The reception has a well organised team and checking in and out was dealt with very professionally. The food was fantastic. The pianist was great and the ambience of the hotel is wonderful. This was our 4th visit to the hotel and standards remain high. I did not like that you had to make your own toast and believe that a toast rack is part of the table furniture.

Breakfast was served with hard working staff the reception staff were friendly I booked this hotel in the knowledge of there being swimming pool and spa facilities as that is how it is advertised still on the internet. When we arrived( I was treating my daughter as she has been unwell) found that the pool has been closed for 3 years I will not be coming back because of this fact. We were both very disapointed. And I am already thinking of booking to stay in either the Hilton or Metropole on my next visit. I think it would be in your interest to spend money on revamping your hotel as well as opening the pool as like me some people will not be returning and you will lose a lot of valuable customers.

Problem with entrance to my room. Key not programmed correctly. 3 times I had to go down to Reception to request I gain access to room. My friend, in next room, had no problem. It was annoying because they kept insinuating it was my fault - not the key'S. Once I was given another key it was ok. Was very frustrating though.

I loved the victorian architecture and the old fashioned service. I enjoyed the comfortable bed and the air conditioning. The room was clean and towels were changed daily. The decor in the room we had was a little tired especially in the bathroom. The shower was only ok. The wooden bath panel was old and worn.

Staff were very polite, helpful and friendly. The room was nicely located with seaview and it was very big room and worths its price. The lobby of the hotel was very beautiful and relaxing with a number of tables that have seaview. The restaurant was luxury and the service was very nice from the staff. The toilet was not clean enough with some brown spot in the ceramics. The pilows were thin and not cofortable enough. Some the furniture need to be improved to fit the price of rooms. Only a few TV chanels were available and there is no variety of choices. I did not like The breakfast served in the restaurant as there was not variety of dishes and food. Generally, these things that I did not like, did not badly affect my stay in the hotel.

The location was ideal, opposite the beach and within a short walk of the lanes and shops. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough to help you. I have stayed at the Grand before and thought that the room and hotel were over priced. The rate the I was offered this time round made it very good value for money. The hotel is now slightly old fashioned compared to other hotels in the area but I guess this is also part of its charm.

The huge comfy bed was fantastic! Location brilliant and staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was excellent quality and the choice was the best I've encountered. The furniture in the room was a bit 'tatty' and there was very little on the service tray so no second cup of tea or coffee was available.
